  1. On Monday February 27th, 2012, WikiLeaks began publishing The Global Intelligence Files, over five million e-mails from the Texas headquartered "global intelligence" company Stratfor. The e-mails date between July 2004 and late December 2011. They reveal the inner workings of a company that fronts as an intelligence publisher, but provides confidential intelligence services to large corporations, such as Bhopal's Dow Chemical Co., Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and government agencies, including the US Department of Homeland Security, the US Marines and the US Defence Intelligence Agency. The emails show Stratfor's web of informers, pay-off structure, payment laundering techniques and psychological methods.

  12. Sending straight to alpha because no WO on. Replying to this thread
  13. because it's in reference to the bias we should be aware of from Ma'an
  14. News Agency, whose story Mikey just pasted in response to the insight on
  15. what's happening at Pal camps in Lebanon. Source is new, just met him on
  16. my trip. He's a journalist who works for Ma'an. Insight below is his
  17. response to my questions about wtf his boss was saying in the article I
  18. pasted below the insight ('Palestinian editor says Jerusalem will be
  19. liberated with "military honor"'):
  20.
  21. Nasser [Ma'an editor in chief Nasr al-Lahham] is the man but he's a nut.
  22. I know him well. Israelis know him too, he used to report from the
  23. Knesset and interviewed I think their president once at his home.
  24. His point here, seems to me, is Abbas' strategy of building institutions
  25. and restoring security, rather than violently resisting, is key to
  26. liberating Palestine. He's telling the recruits they're just as
  27. important and valuable as Hezbollah and don't let anyone tell you
  28. otherwise
  29. Here's the inside scoop on Nasser and the key to understanding how Maan
  30. remains the only truly independent news source in Palestine: He's a
  31. decades long supporter of the Popular Front, was president of the PFLP
  32. at Bethlehem Univ. and went to jail six years for it.
  33. As a PFLP supporter, he detests organized religion and its mixing in
  34. politics (Hamas) just as much as he hates
  35. materialism/capitalism/corruption (Fatah). (On that second point, he's
  36. probably the most beloved media personality in the country and has huge
  37. influence, yet he never thought to move out of the refugee camp where he
  38. was born. Badass.)
  39. The other important thing to know about Nasser, more important than
  40. anything else I just mentioned, is that he is batshit insane. Really do
  41. love the guy but something is off up there, trust me. He will spout out
  42. the craziest theories every once in a while **
  43. ----------------------------------------
  44.
  45. Palestinian editor says Jerusalem will be liberated with "military
  46. honor"
  47.
  48. Ma'an News Agency reports at 0429 gmt that its editor in chief Nasr
  49. al-Lahham, delivered a speech to a group of 600 Palestinian security
  50. personnel at Jericho's Palestinian Academy for Security Sciences, also
  51. known as Al-Istiqlal University. The event was attended by several
  52. high-ranking security figures such as Tawfiq al-Tirawi, head of the
  53. university board of management, and Nayif Jaradat, the academy's acting
  54. president.
  55.
  56. The report says that Al-Lahham "spoke about the occupation and how most
  57. of the young Jewish people do not know the meaning of the word
  58. occupation, because they have been brainwashed by the Israeli military
  59. and media establishments."
  60.
  61. He praises Palestinian [National] Authority (PNA) President Mahmud
  62. Abbas, and likens him to Palestinian figures such as Yasir Arafat and
  63. Khalid Mish'al, explaining that "all of them refused to give up on any
  64. right."
  65.
  66. Al-Lahham calls for an end to the criticism of Palestinians via
  67. satellite television and urges the media to respect the "conscience of
  68. the Palestinian youth," adding that such criticism is tantamount to
  69. "criticizing a whole generation's will of resistance and defiance." He
  70. continues: "You are the future. I stand before you, and I see no
  71. difference between you and Hezbollah fighters in south Lebanon. They
  72. liberated their homeland and you will liberate Jerusalem, God willing."
  73. He concludes his speech by saying "I swear in the pure blood of your
  74. father that we will pray in Jerusalem and you will liberate it with your
  75. military honour."

  90. Jund al-Sham and Jaysh al-Islam"]
  91.
  92. Bethlehem, 15 December (Ma'an) - Munir al-Maqdah, commander of the Fatah
  93. movement's general headquarters in Lebanon, denied that Palestinian
  94. forces in the Ayn al-Hulwah refugee camp in south Lebanon are planning
  95. to eliminate operatives from the Jund al-Sham and Jaysh al-Islam
  96. organizations. These organizations have been accused of being behind the
  97. assassination of 2nd lieutenant Ashraf al-Qadiri, escort of Mahmud Isa,
  98. also known as Al-Linu, commander of the Palestinian Armed Struggle.
  99.
  100. Al-Maqdah told Ma'an's radio network that the political leadership in
  101. Ayn al-Hulwah has set up a committee to investigate the assassination,
  102. but not to eliminate any particular operative or individual. He said
  103. that no one is untouchable, no matter what happens, and that anyone
  104. whose name is called should immediately head to the special committee in
  105. the camp, and if that person is found guilty, he will be turned over to
  106. the Lebanese army.
  107.
  108. Al-Maqdah said "there are no operatives from Fatah al-Islam or Jund
  109. al-Sham in the camp, and this was an isolated incident." He added that
  110. there are ongoing meetings in the camp "because there are people who
  111. want to spark clashes in the camps, both internally and with their
  112. neighbours, and undermine the stability and security in the camps."
  113.
  114. Asked about the reconciliation and the latest meeting between
  115. Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas and HAMAS Political Bureau chief
  116. Khalid Mish'al in Cairo, Al-Maqdah said this was a positive step towards
  117. the future Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. He said the
  118. reconciliation is a Palestinian demand and a force to confront Israel
  119. with, and expressed hope that this demand will be fully and clearly
  120. realized.

  138.
  139. A Fatah official has accused members of the militant group Jund
  140. al-Sham of assassinating the bodyguard of Palestinian Armed Struggle
  141. chief Mahmoud Issa, who goes by the nom de guerre of al-Lino.
  142.
  143. The official, who refused to be identified, told al-Liwaa daily
  144. published Thursday that a Jund al-Sham militant opened fire on
  145. 28-year-old Ashraf al-Qaderi at the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain
  146. el-Hilweh on Wednesday, killing him instantly.
  147.
  148. Cautious calm prevailed on Thursday in the camp that lies near the
  149. southern port city of Sidon.
  150.
  151. But the official said that the remaining members of Jund al-Sham are
  152. seeking to create tension after several security incidents, bombings
  153. and shootings at the camp.
  154.
  155. He added that several members of the militant group had been
  156. arrested by the Palestinian Armed Struggle and handed over to
  157. Lebanese authorities.
  158.
  159. The official hinted that al-Qaderi's killing was aimed at taking
  160. vengeance at the arrests.
  161.
  162. Keeping an eye on those cookey Palestinians with their guns and
  163. their shooting. Oy vey! [nick]

  170.
  171. The bodyguard of a top Palestinian commander was shot dead on
  172. Wednesday in a refugee camp in southern Lebanon, a local official
  173. said.
  174.
  175. "At around 10:00 p.m., a masked gunman shot and killed Ashraf Qadiri
  176. at his shop here in the Ain al-Hilweh camp," said Munir Maqdah, in
  177. charge of security at the camp near the southern coastal city of
  178. Saida.
  179.
  180. Qadiri was a bodyguard for Mohammed Abdel Hamid Issa, alias
  181. "Al-Lino," the head of Palestinian party Fatah's police force in Ain
  182. al-Hilweh.
  183.
  184. Maqdah said Fatah forces had gone on alert and deployed throughout
  185. the camp, adding that the shooter had not yet been identified.
  186.
  187. Wednesday's shooting was the second such incident this week
  188. targeting one of Issa's bodyguards.
  189.
  190. Ain al-Helweh, the largest Palestinian camp in the country, is home
  191. to about 50,000 refugees and is known to harbor extremists and
  192. fugitives.
  193.
  194. By long-standing convention, the Lebanese army does not enter the
  195. country's 12 refugee camps, leaving security inside to the
  196. Palestinians themselves.
  197.
  198. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees
  199. (UNRWA) estimates that some 425,000 Palestinian refugees are living
  200. in Lebanon, a country with a population of four million.
  201.
  202. Others, however, estimate the number to be closer to 250,000.

  212. fighting within Lebanon and Syria, not towards Israel (though they
  213. did claim some int'l terror attacks in the 1980s). That is all
  214. very different from the rocket attacks the last 24 hours, not to

  233.
  234. the PA has damning evidence about the intention of the Syrian
  235. regime to cause trouble in Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.
  236. Dozens of Syrian men have in recent weeks moved into major camps
  237. such as Ain al-Hilwa, Sabra & Shatila, al-Biddawi and al-Burj
  238. al-Shimali. The Syrians appear bent of exploding the security
  239. situation in the camps should the security situation in Syria go
  240. out of control. This will be part of the Syrian regime's efforts
  241. to hold Lebanon hostage and to use it in order to negotiate a deal
  242. with the West.
  243.
  244. The Syrians believe that the French are leading the Western
  245. efforts to isolate the Syrian regime. They are also aware that the
  246. French feel they have a moral and historical responsibility
  247. towards Lebanon. Therefore, the Syrians seem to want to use
  248. Lebanon to stop the French diplomatic drive against the regime in
  249. Damascus. The Syrians arriving into camps in Lebanon belong to
  250. al-Saeqa Palestinian guerrilla movement, which is largely seen as
  251. an extention of the Syrian army intelligence.
