  3. I think its time to spice this general up a little bit, so lets hear some controversial/unpopular opinions in this thread about the shows

  5. All the acting and pacing is extremely awkward. I cringe multiple times throughout the show. It's well made, but terribly executed. It's like seeing a middle school drama club playing Shakespear.

  13. Blitzo's "lovable asshole" characterization is incredibly grating. The more you watch him, the more you start to hate the guy.

  19. The sound design in the hazbin pilot is fucking dogsht, even comparing it to the previews they gave, they went way too fcking overboard with it and, until helluva boss episode 1 came out, I thought they would fck up HB just as bad.

  23. I think The Pilot for Hazbin has WAAAAAY too much going on at once. You're introducing:

  26. >Who the important players are, but they're not named (you see flashes of Vox, Valentino and Velvet, but they're never named onscreen, so you don't know who they are unless you check the Wiki) Val's relationship with Angel isn't even touched on.

  28. >Cherri Bomb and her relationship to Angel
  29. >Charlie, the protagonist
  30. >Vaggie
  31. >Alastor, his rise to power, and why everyone is afraid of him
  32. >Niffty and Husk get the short end of the stick where they're just dropped in and they go, 'there are these characters and this is who they are' and that's it.

  34. >Katie Killjoy and Tom Trench as ancillary characters.

  36. It's like they planned out the first maybe 5 episodes and then compressed it all into the 30 minute Pilot. There's ample enough room for episodesabout :
  37. >One about the intro to Hell, Charlie, Vaggie, the news station etc.
  38. >One about Angel Dust and Cherri fighting Sir Pentious
  39. >One about Alastor arriving and deciding to help Charlie run the Happy Hotel and introducing Niffty and Husk
  40. >One about the Overlords as a faction, and explaining Alastor's power and how he appeared
  41. >One exploring Angel and Valentino's relationship, and why he decided to stay at the Hotel (I know it's covered in the comic, but I feel it'll get explored in the show eventually).

  43. There's so much stuff going on, and they just decided to put it all into The Pilot episode. That's easily at least 5 or 6 episodes if the ideas were fleshed out, and judging by the length of Helluva Boss, you've got at least the first half or quarter of Series 1 ready there.

  45. Personally I think the CharliexDoomguy crackship is better than CharliexVaggie since the juxtapostion between the two would be really funny.
  46. Also Vaggie works better paired with Angeldust like Viv originally planned.

  48. For the the Jury's still out on Charlie and Vaggie. I'm hopeful that their could be a juxtaposition between the two (as you said with DoomXCharlie) since Vaggie comes from a life of squalor and hard knocks whilst Charlie comes from a life of royalty and being an immortal hell spawn. Unfortunately we don't have too much to work off of, at least until some kind of trailer for Hazbin Hotel gets released (hopefully by the end of this year)

  50. Alright, ill add in my own unpopular opinions, rather than letting the thread do the work for me
  51. >Moxxie and Millie are for me genuinely unlikable asholes who are just as stupid and morally depraved as blitzo, it just manifests in different ways
  52. >Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss have genuinely bad humor, save from a small collection of witty jokes
  53. >Writing and pacing is also a massive issue in both shows
  54. >The animation quality for Helluva Boss is declining, which was really bad in Episode 3 but has gotten a bit better with 4
  55. >From what we've seen so far theirs almost no tonal difference between Heaven, Earth and Hell which makes the universe seem really bland and same-y

  62. Most people here like to think that Moxxie and Millie are some kind of ultra cute innocent power couple, when to me they just seem to be psychotic asholes who are good at killing people
  63. Fun to watch certainly, but they're fun to watch because they're such awful people

  65. Moxxie is neutral at worst. I imagine that if he didn't know you personally and saw you bleeding out he wouldn't do anything, just leaves you to die because you have no influence over him. Millie would put you down, she obviously has no qualms with killing while moxxie at least hesitantly kills if he believes that the target is truly undeserving. Millie just seems eager for bloodshed.

  75. Wouldn't seeing people dying in hell be a normal thing for demons? I mean when the imps going after stolas saw one of there own die they didnt even blink

  78. And looking back on it yeah seeing someone bleeding out and letting them die is pretty fcked up.

  93. With that kind of attitude you could see Moxxie easily running a blood diamond operation in Sierra Leone or guarding a death camp in rural Poland

  100. They're the cannon fodder of Hell. To them, humans are either just "sinners-in-waiting" (or "soon-to-be anarchic asholes who drive down property values and reinvent feudalism with assault weapons"), or not their priority.
  101. The reason why Moxxie had an issue killing a family and children in episode was because he probably wants to become a family man himself. He's visibly distraught at the end of the episode over the police killing the father and the kids, and wanted the guy to go to prison, rather than offing him.
  102. He's empathic, but not moral - he has no qualms killing teens and tweens at Verosika's concert, and Millie's bloodlust turns him on.
  103. This could be because both of them are from the Wrath ring, and are thus drawn towards violence (they start fcking on the rope while fighting the cherubs).
  104. Plus, since sinners only contribute to the overpopulation crisis, he'd prefer that they'd go to Heaven.
  105. Even Blitzo had a minor hang-up on killing a child in the pilot (not for long, though).
  106. In general, they seem to be on the sliding scale between amoral and immoral, with Moxxie having the most empathy, Blitzo at least being aware of moral and social issues (knowing that global warming is bad, questioning if someone literally wants to kill a kid), but is more pragmatic than to let those halt them, while Millie is just bloodthirsty.
