  1. Concrete Jungle's society is extremely fascist and brutal, where individual rights are stifled by an all-encompassing government that seeks total domination and control. Much of this can be attributed to the origins of the Nyutai, who were an insectoid race modified and warped by the Kaat, a race of monolithic, Vytis Inorgana, Silicon-based lifeforms which had unparalleled mastery over the inorganic technologies, and used them to warp and modify the race into foot soldiers specifically intended to be used in occupation and conquest. Long after their masters were destroyed in the Avanari War, the Nyutai (Kaat for Iron Claw) remained, still pursuing the instinctual objective literally programmed into their very being, seeking to conquer and enslaves. However, their lack of genuine technological on their own made it so that they were poorly skilled, and had to copy and work off other races' technology in order to advance their society, as their Thinkers had minds generally geared to manipulating the resources given to them. They had a small edge due to the Katt technology they gained, especially when it comes to cybernetic modification of other races, but had to start stealing technology that belonged to others in order to advance their crude society, and for a long time they functioned as a pirate race, creating their disturbing, mishmash technology. Eventually however they had become powerful and widespread enough to attack Animalia, and they conquered the Shard with great effort, finally having a culture to occupy and slaves to force to work. In particular, they took the various intellectuals of the conquered Shard to endlessly work on improving their science, even if they were skilled in other things such as history or the like, killing those who failed to produce results. Those who remained of the non-intellectual population were forced to live in megacities separated by vast distanced and connected only by subterranean tunnels, and were not allowed to move outside the city. Every element of their life was made to be dependent on the Nyutai, ranging from food production, to energy, to clothes, and the like, and they were made to work daily and savagely oppressed and beaten whenever they refused to work. The armed forces of the Shard were for a time demilitarized, before being reinstated as the Statekeepers, a police force intended to maintain the oppressive conditions while also allowing the Nyutai to focus on their exploits outside the Shard. Unfortunately, most Statekeepers enjoy the relative position of power they have over the rest of the citizens of Concrete Jungle, and act abusive and cruel regularly, especially using their dangerous nature to bully and coerce inhabitants into handing over the rare belongings they have, such as rations and the like. Citizens who are shown to have promise in the intellectual fields are taken to be worked as scientists for their slave drivers like the original academics of the Shard, and are forced to help aid the development of technology, often in sickening ways such as more efficient torture methods, horrible weapons, and even attempting to turn Animalians into cyborg races like their masters - though this has all been met with failure, as a young, enslaved race of humanoids could not possible compare to the prowess of the Kaat that created the Nyutai. The Nyutai regularly attack other Shards in hopes of expanding their empire, but they usually fail, leading them to further abuse and harm their scientists and citizens, believing them to be at fault rather than the crude intellectual processes of the Nyutai, which think only in strict terms of conquest and occupation. Cells of rebel Animalians both exist outside the megacities and inside, and the Nyutai offer a token effort to fight them, even if they mostly sic the Statekeepers on them in the end. They see no reason to deal with the Sect and New Race outside their borders since they are not interfering with what they believed to be the central sources of value in the Shard - precious ores and the citizens, with the megacities being built in such a way to allow tunneling throughout the earth as they please, usually forcing the citizens of the various megacities to work as miners in frankly absurd and unsafe conditions. The aesthetic of the technology of the Nyutai is extremely jumbled and piecemeal, being cobbled together out of various scientific methods they researched and assimilated, but without completely understanding what exactly they had taken from, thought here are undeniable Kaat influences such as heavily geometric designs and in particular the hexagonal corridors. Even their weapons appear this way, being needlessly complicated, and their robotic armies are so disparate almost every individual model type looks completely different from other model types. Their ships are often vaguely pod or tube like, with large wings which can face any angle covered in small turbines and a single large turbine at the back of the ship's main body. Their mother ships however are more like massive, floating "jellyfish" in design. Their megacities are full of concrete and metal, hence the name of the Shard they occupy in popular parlance. They speak an alien language and only have rudimentary understanding of 108 Standard. Their slaves generally do not know their language, not even the academics, as they never attempt to teach them it or its intricacies. The Nyutai are not friendly with any major faction or group, and have ongoing wars with Karabis and the Chirate Empire of Cosmos, and generally estimates indicate their regime is not long for this world - the only problem is their unfortunate slaves are unlikely to find a benevolent savior when the Nyutai are finally destroyed, but rather another slave master.
