  8. Summary
  9. --------
  10.
  11. Monstro is a character of the boss from The Binding of Isaac of the same name, taking his sprites from Rebirth. While mostly accurate to his appearance in that game, Monstro also has a few "custom" attacks to better adapt to a 2D/fighting game environment (and because a character with three attacks would be fairly boring to watch). Intended to not be that tough but still posing a challenge, Monstro is a character that can be challenged by newbies and veterans alike.
  12.
  13. ---------
  14. Mechanics
  15. ---------
  16.
  17. Monstro doesn't have that many bells and whistles, being one of the first bosses that one encounters in Isaac. He does, however, have two special mechanics...
  18.
  19. - Ministros
  20. Monstro can summon Ministro monsters to help him mess with the opponent. Summoning two at a time, Monstro can only have those two out before he can summon another batch. Ministros have very low HP - only being able to take around 30~ damage before dying - but can be a crucial annoyance/distraction for Monstro to make use of. Enemies won't directly target the Ministros, so as to avoid scams or whiffed supers, but Ministros WILL directly go for opponents.
  21.
  22. - Palettes/Champion Monstro
  23. Monstro's higher palettes, 11p and 12p, mimic the "champion" variants of Monstro in his home game...
  24. 11p mimics the "black" champion variant. Monstro is bigger than normal, and has increased health (or rather defense). However, on this palette, Monstro cannot summon Ministros or use his "big jump" attack. All other attacks are useable.
  25. 12p mimics the "pink" champion variant. Monstro is smaller and has only 75% of the health/defense he has in his normal form, but there's two of him to compensate. No summoning Ministros on this palette, either.
  26.
  27. -------
  28. Moveset
  29. -------
  30.
  31. Monstro doesn't have a very big moveset, so it's all listed here.
  32.
  33. x - Short Hop
  34. Monstro leaps towards the opponent. This is his only option of movement beyond leaping high into the air and directly targeting his enemy.
  35.
  36. Down + x - Rock Hop
  37. Monstro leaps on the spot. When he lands, a short rock wave will appear on both sides of him.
  38.
  39. y - Big Bounce
  40. Monstro leaps high into the air and offscreen. When he comes back down, he'll try to target the opponent's position. Upon landing, a few blood shots will spray out.
  41.
  42. z - Ministro Summon
  43. Monstro breathes in, and spits out two Ministros. This attack can only be used when there aren't any Ministros on the field.
  44.
  45. a - Rolling Rampage
  46. Monstro leaps back and rolls across the stage.
