Chapter 2: A promise of honor
Jax awoke to the sun shining onto his face through the balcony windows, he still remembered the sight he saw in the showers last night of Miss Fiora but he tried to forget about it, it only was a small accident. He stood up from his bed opening the curtains of the giant windows before walking towards the closet to put back on his robe.
A knock on the wooden oak door filled the room as Fiora walked into the guestroom, "Hmm looks like Sir has woken up already." She said non suprised since the time of day was already around 11AM.
"Just barely." Jax replied still a bit sleepy while grabbing his mask from the pillow next to him. "So when will breakfast be ready?" He chuckled slightly seeing the house of Laurent as a very expensive Bed and Breakfast.
"Excuse me? This isn't one of those cheap establishment. You were only staying here for some kind of request you wanted to tell me." Fiora answerd a bit irritated by the comment Jax gave her. Thinking that this was some kind of hotel how dare he.
"Oh yes ofcourse. Is there some place we can discuss this in private?" Jax walked past Fiora looking through the hallway and down the railing of the stairs. "Maybe something like a Dinning hall?" Jax asked as his stomach started to rumble
Fiora sighed hearing the sounds of Jax's stomach. "Fine. We'll discuss it with breakfast." Heading down the curved stairway and over the giant middle center of the house, entering a gaint room in length. Only filled by a 15 Feet long table with atleast 50 chairs. Fiora took her seat at the end of the table pointing to a seat infront of her.
Jax was suprised by how large this house actually was, he had only seen it in the dark last night not getting a full view of it, but the room he was standing in with the giant table in the middle of it was enough to see this wasn't an average house someone would live in. He saw the gesture Fiora made towards the chair infront of her and took seat in the chair. Fiora clapped in her hands as five people came walking into the room all holding a plate of food with a cover over it. He felt his taste buds go wild by only looking at the food the men place on the table, a perfectly grilled steak was put on the table as one of the men poured gravy ontop of the meat. The smell of the steak filled Jax's nose, this would probably be the best thing he had eaten in months.
Before Jax could stick his fork in one of the pieces of flesh Fiora stopped him sticking her own fork in the same piece. "Ah-ah-ah." Fiora shaked her head and moved Jax's fork out of the steak. "First you will tell me what you want from me." She said with a stern look on her face. She had giving a place to sleep to a total stranger while she doesn't even know him. Jax was about to open his mouth to explain what he wanted from Fiora before Fiora shushed him. "Introduce yourself first." She leaned back in her chair and took a bite from the steak.
Jax laughed a little placing the fork back down next to his plate. "The name is Jax nice to meet you miss Laurent." Jax answered before sitting up straight in his chair. "The thing that I want from you is for you to accompany me as a partner. I will be needing your help to drive away monsters from beyond who took over my home land." Jax stated looking Fiora right into her eyes waiting for an answer.
Fiora put her hand on her chin thinking about it for a little bit. "And what would there be in for it for me? Because I'm not helping for free." She answered
"Honor." Jax replied simpily. "The honor of your family has dropped drastically I have heard. If people will hear about the Head of House Laurent having slain monsters from beyond. It will bring a lot of honor to your family."
Fiora looked up a little suprised the stranger knew about her family and what kind of deed her father had done to dishonor her family. "How do you..?" Fiora asked confused but shaked her head right after it. "Alright. I'll help you take back your home land." Fiora answered with a small smile sticking out her hand to close the deal.
Jax grabbed Fiora's hand and shook it closing the deal between the two of them. "That is settled than. We can leave over a couple hours, or next morning. It depends on how much time you will need to prepare Miss Laurent."
"We shall take our leave after breakfast than, much preparing I will not need." Fiora answered before taking a piece of the steak cutting it on her plate. "Eat up before it will get cold."
Jax nodded slightly and took a piece of stake from the dish and put it on his plate. Lifting his mask up just slightly so he could eat, but not high enough to show Fiora his face.
