- Shadow Warrior 2013 is an amazing game. I only got to chapter 14(out of 17 total chapters)in my casual playthrough, but I decided to do a review nonetheless because I love the game.
- Combat:
- Obviously as it's a first-person shooter, there's combat involved. The combat in this game is very satisfying to do as it's basically Doom-like with a katana. The swordplay in particular is very cool and the katana/melee weapon is probably my favorite weapon in the game. An added touch to the combat is the game gives you a rating out of 5 shurikens when you beat an enemy battle. I liked that a lot because it added to the style of the game.
- Plot/Humor/Easter Eggs:
- As stated earlier, this game is Doom-like. Not only in combat, but also in the story. The basic story is you play as this guy named Lo Wang who fights demons and gets 3 parts to a mystical sword to eventually save the Shadow Realm(the equivalent of Doom 2016's Hell)from destruction. The main protagonist,Lo Wang,is a bit more vocal then Doomguy, and the wit that he and his companion character,Loki, have as characters made me love them as protagonists. The game has some neat callbacks to the original Shadow Warrior from 1997 as well as other shooters like Hotline Miami and Hard Reset(a previous game from the developer,Devolver Digital). The game also has a funny easter egg in each level where you can encounter anime girls(yes, you heard me right),and there's occasional fortune cookies with funny text.
- Music:
- The music is absolutely amazing. The music fit the ninja/asian warrior style it went for really well, and it was so good and epic-sounding it was like music from a movie.
- Overall, very good game. I will probably speedrun this game because it's not too long(1 hour or so),and has some sick out of bounds-type skips.
