  1. I just want to say, if this was an alt of someone who's reading this, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Nevertheless, names have been changed to protect the identities of the accused, etc etc.
  2.
  3. ===================
  4.
  5. (Hallifax): Goober says, "Hi."
  6.
  7. (Hallifax): Yarith says, "Hello."
  8.
  9. (Hallifax): You say, "Greetings, Undergraduate Goober. Are you proceeding well?"
  10.
  11. (Hallifax): Goober says, "Proceeding?"
  12.
  13. (Hallifax): You say, "Yes, your studies within the Collegium. How are you faring?"
  14.
  15. (Hallifax): Goober says, "What collegium? I am sorry everything is so...chaotic. I am still trying to figure out what is what."
  16.
  17. You rub a platinum wire tiara and it begins to glow with a pulsating light.
  18. Within the enchanted item, an image forms of Goober at the Aetherplex Chamber.
  19.
  20. (Hallifax): You say, "I see. Perhaps I will be able to assist you."
  21.
  22. You incline your head politely to Goober.
  23.
  24. You say to Goober, "Greetings. Please, follow me."
  25.
  26. Goober begins to follow you.
  27.
  28. You say to Goober, "Welcome to the Collective of Hallifax, your new home."
  29.
  30. Undergraduate Goober says, "Collective?"
  31.
  32. Undergraduate Goober says, "That sounds a mite creepy."
  33.
  34. You say, "Not at all. We refer to ourselves as a Collective because we believe in the philosophy of utilizing all members of our society in a productive manner, as according to their talents."
  35.
  36. You say, "By promoting such a social policy, we ensure that every new member that joins us adds to our strength."
  37.
  38. Undergraduate Goober says, "I don't have any talents."
  39.
  40. You say to Goober, "You may believe that, but many come to us with such a belief."
  41.
  42. You say, "That is why your early efforts within the Collective will center around exploring your own abilities."
  43.
  44. You say, "This is the University of Cosmic Understanding, the Collegium of Hallifax."
  45.
  46. Undergraduate Goober says, "What is a collegium?"
  47.
  48. Undergraduate Goober says, "I do not know this word."
  49.
  50. You say, "It is an establishment formed to facilitate the education of newly-arrived individuals within the city."
  51.
  52. You say, "Heading up these stairs, you will find that various levels of the spire are populated by the collegium professors."

  59. =======================================
  60.
  61. Tidings, and welcome to the Collective!
  62.
  63. The University of Cosmic Understanding has a curriculum that is
  64. specifically designed to introduce you to the culture, history, and
  65. responsibilities involved with being a Hallifaxian citizen.
  66.
  67. COLLEGE STATUS will provide a list of courses available: Geography,
  68. Healing, History, Influence, Planes, and Power. CGHELP <course> will
  69. provide a thorough explanation of each course's requirements. Each
  70. successful completion of these courses will noteably shorten your time
  71. in the University.
  72.
  73. Depending on what guild you are in, you have a guild-specific lesson
  74. plan that will aid you in your future endeavours as a novice.
  75.
  76. Read CGHELP AEROMANCERS if you are part of the Aeromancers.
  77.
  78. Read CGHELP RESEARCHERS if you are part of the Institute.
  79.
  80. Read CGHELP SENTINELS if you are part of the Sentinels.
  81.
  82. Read CGHELP SYMPHONIUM if you are part of the Symphonium.
  83.
  84. CGHELP DIRECTIONS provides a helpful list of places you will need to
  85. reach for the University courses. You will notice certain numbers
  86. appearing in other CGHELP scrolls as well. These numbers indicate
  87. locations. PATH FIND <number> will give you directions to a desired
  88. location, while PATH WALK <number> will quickly bring you there.
  89.
  90. When in doubt, do not hesitate to ask questions: CGT <your message> will
  91. allow you to speak on the University aether and our professors will be
  92. able to help you.
  93.
  94. Fair winds in your endeavours, student. We expect great things of you.
  95.
  96. You say, "Have you read and reviewed CGHELP WELCOME, yet?"
  97.
  98. Undergraduate Goober says, "I am not fond of reading...goes in one eye and out the other. I learn hands on."
  99.
  100. You say, "Understandable, though you may wish to read the scroll at the very least. It contains written instructions on how to undertake various tasks that will be important for you early on, such as details on how to navigate the city, as well as the lesson plans that have been established for you, based upon your guild that you have chosen."
  101.

  103. He has approximately 19 hours and 58 minutes of online experience left before graduating from the University of Cosmic Understanding.
  104. He is currently enrolled as a Student in the University of Cosmic Understanding.

  114. You say, "For example, COLLEGE STATUS."
  115.
  116. You say, "Go ahead and try it."
  117.
  118. Undergraduate Goober says, "So I am forced into a school regardless of where I arrive from the portal at?"
  119.
  120. You say, "For the first part of your career, yes. The lesson plans are designed to teach you basic skills that will become the foundation you will use to discover your own talents and choose your ongoing career."
  121.
  122. Goober shakes his head.
  123.
  124. You say, "There are many opportunities open to you within the Collective."
  125.
  126. You say, "Tell me, what do you desire to make of yourself? Why did you travel through the Portal of Fate?"
  127.
  128. Undergraduate Goober says, "That is not what I meant. I barely recover from slaying myself and being tossed about the realms of whatever the fates rule, and get thrown into a school no matter where I go. I could not choose to be freeborn."
  129.
  130. You look undecided and say, "So, you desire to not be affiliated with any city or commune?"
  131.
  132. You say, "Well, such a fate is possible for you to attain."
  133.
  134. Undergraduate Goober says, "I chose this city for it's neutrality. I did not expect to have books and school thrown into my face before I could even find my feet."
  135.
  136. You say, "Neutrality? What makes you believe that we lie neutral within the political climates of the Basin of Life?"
  137.
  138. You tilt your head and listen intently.
  139.
  140. Undergraduate Goober says, "The fates."
  141.
  142. You say, "Ah, I see."
  143.
  144. Undergraduate Goober says, "Serenwilde and hallifax are organizations of neutrality."
  145.
  146. You say, "Well, to a point perhaps."
  147.
  148. You look about yourself, rubbing your chin thoughtfully.
  149.
  150. You say, "Perhaps it is better if I explain the tenets of our society."
  151.
  152. You close your eyes and inhale deeply, absorbing the scent of your surroundings.
  153.
  154. Undergraduate Goober says, "I think, throwing reading material at me when I am still dizzy from the death of my shadow, and the shearing of my fate, is rather cold and...anti-social."
  155.
  156. You say, "Well, that is why I came to find you and answer your questions."
  157.
  158. You say, "In any case, allow me to explain. We of Hallifax promote the value of Harmony through Law and Order."
  159.
  160. Undergraduate Goober says, "I dont really have any questions. I learned enough in influence and dramatics to be useful when I finish with newton."
  161.
  162. You suck thoughtfully on your teeth.
  163.
  164. You say, "Is that all you have dedicated your available lessons to, thus far?"
  165.
  166. Undergraduate Goober says, "And some planar."

  219.
  220. You say, "How many lessons do you still have available?"
  221.
  222. Undergraduate Goober says, "None."
  223.
  224. You ponder the situation.
  225.
  226. Undergraduate Goober says, "After some more time in Newton I will likely invest in some cosmic and highmagic to improve my combat until I can handle empowering the guards of the city."
  227.
  228. Undergraduate Goober says, "Then I will indulge in some artisanry."
  229.
  230. You say, "Then you may find difficulty in certain things, without the skills you would have learned following the lesson plan. You should endeavour to learn 25 lessons worth of Discernment and Discipline, as well as 4 lessons of Environment. This will provide you with a number of important basic skills you will find much use for."
  231.
  232. Undergraduate Goober says, "Such as?"
  233.
  234. You say, "The lessons in Discernment will allow you to use FIRSTAID on yourself and identify ailments that may afflict you, as well as tell you what is needed to cure them. The Discipline will teach you CURING and allow you to know automatically use to sip your potions to recover health, mana or ego. And the Environment lessons will provide you the ability to SURVEY a location, so Gods forbid, if you find yourself lost, you will be able to tell others where you are and they can come to your aid."
  235.
  236. Undergraduate Goober says, "Sounds like none of them are useful to me."
  237.
  238. Undergraduate Goober says, "I need only bromides, mana and health potions for what I do."
  239.
  240. Undergraduate Goober says, "And getting lost is only half the fun."
  241.
  242. Undergraduate Goober says, "Would be...contradictory if I already knew everything about the basin, to go off exploring what I already know."
  243.
  244. You say, "What will you do though if you, for example, break a bone during while you are hunting?"
  245.
  246. Undergraduate Goober says, "I dont intend to hunt."
  247.
  248. Undergraduate Goober says, "And mending potion works well on that."
  249.
  250. You say, "Well then, let us discuss your other concerns then."
  251.
  252. You say, "You state that you do not wish to attend the collegium, correct?"
  253.
  254. Undergraduate Goober says, "I never said that. However, not being able to choose before being thrown into it, and having books and scrolls flung in my face right out of the starting gate, is quite put-offish. Like the people here have no soul. You cannot choose. Here read this and never have face to face interaction, we are drones we are legion ya dig?"
  255.
  256. Undergraduate Goober says, "Few, if any people I know enjoy having books thrown in their face before they even meet a single person."
  257.
  258. You look skeptical and say, "You seem rather hung up on that point, Undergraduate, despite the fact that you have your Guildmaster standing here before you, taking the time to address your concerns in person."
  259.
  260. You say, "We provide the materials that we provide because there is value in streamlining the process of welcoming new members to the Collective."
  261.
  262. You say, "If individuals require specific care or guidance, then we take the time to provide such to them, just as I am doing for you now."
  263.
  264. Undergraduate Goober says, "You came in rather late. I was already a master of influence, and dramatics, and was setting out to go influence when you pulled me aside. And pretty much the first thing I heard from you is how is your progress? Progress of what? Then we get here and you hand out help tomes...it wasn't until I made it clear I was not interested in that did you talk to me."
  265.
  266. Undergraduate Goober says, "My point is, streamline or no, it's...uncivilized to be so cold and unwelcoming as to smack someone on the head with books before they even know what's what."
  267.
  268. Sternly, you say, "Watch your tone, Serf. It is not your place to question the procedures or intentions of the Collective. If you find us cold and unwelcoming, then perhaps the Collective is not a fitting place for you. Especially so, if all you intend to do is squander the protection that the strength of the Collective provides you to simply influence the guards, day in and day out, and then pursue a career in the arts without ever having bothered to take the time to serve the Collective properly and earn your understanding of what it takes for us to provide the Harmony that allows an artist to create Beauty."
  269.
  270. Goober searches the air in front of him, then tugs upon an invisible strand of force.

  273. TIME - Goober stepped out of the Portal of Fate as a citizen.
  274. TWO HOURS LATER - Goober quit the city.
  275.
  276. You peer at Goober unscrupulously.
  277.
  278. Goober turns translucent and then vanishes, leaving behind a cloud of sparkling motes of light.
