  1. [21:55] * visceralVanguard [VV] began conversing with jocoseZirconium [JZ]
  2. [21:56] <@visceralVanguard> Zach? Are you available at the moment?
  3. [21:56] <jocoseZirconium> Oh hello.
  4. [21:56] <jocoseZirconium> Yes, I am.
  5. [21:56] <jocoseZirconium> Turns out flying takes quite awhile when its between planets.
  6. [21:56] <@visceralVanguard> Oh? You were able to acquire a mechanism of flight? Excellent!
  7. [21:56] <@visceralVanguard> I must say it really is quite useful.
  8. [21:57] <jocoseZirconium> Well I already had a mechanism of flight.
  9. [21:57] <jocoseZirconium> Just this one is...
  10. [21:57] <jocoseZirconium> Manpowered, I suppose
  11. [21:57] <jocoseZirconium> Rather than drakepowered.
  12. [21:57] <@visceralVanguard> Drakepowered?
  13. [21:57] <jocoseZirconium> My drake, Lizzy.
  14. [21:58] <jocoseZirconium> She's so nice.
  15. [21:58] <@visceralVanguard> How were you able to acquire an alternate method of flight?
  16. [21:58] <@visceralVanguard> Do you have wings now too?
  17. [21:58] <jocoseZirconium> I uh.
  18. [21:58] <jocoseZirconium> Died?
  19. [21:58] <jocoseZirconium> God Tiered.
  20. [21:58] <jocoseZirconium> Its somewhat difficult to explain.
  21. [21:58] <@visceralVanguard> Oh dear.
  22. [21:58] <jocoseZirconium> I died on a certain rock.
  23. [21:58] <jocoseZirconium> And suddenly i can fly.
  24. [21:59] <jocoseZirconium> As well as many other things.
  25. [22:01] <@visceralVanguard> Ah. I was hoping that was not the mechanism you were referring to. Someone in my game also had the same thing happen to them.
  26. [22:01] <@visceralVanguard> I am sorry that you perished.
  27. [22:01] <@visceralVanguard> I hope it was not too much of an ordeal at least.
  28. [22:01] <jocoseZirconium> It was a suprisingly un-unpleasant experience to be honest.
  29. [22:01] <jocoseZirconium> Lizzy had the worst of it.
  30. [22:01] <@visceralVanguard> It is quite a relief that this game provides some sort of revival mechanism.
  31. [22:02] <jocoseZirconium> She did see me drink alchemical water then impale myself, then show up and steal my own corpse.
  32. [22:02] <jocoseZirconium> Yes indeed.
  33. [22:02] <@visceralVanguard> You killed yourself
  34. [22:02] <@visceralVanguard> I was not expecting that.
  35. [22:02] <@visceralVanguard> Why?
  36. [22:02] <jocoseZirconium> I was convinced
  37. [22:02] <@visceralVanguard> Did Lyra talk to you?
  38. [22:02] <jocoseZirconium> My "session"
  39. [22:02] <jocoseZirconium> Or whatever, is dying.
  40. [22:02] <jocoseZirconium> I was chased by a horde of black Dersites, then almost killed by them.
  41. [22:03] <jocoseZirconium> It was nearly my only choice, and my informants hadn't lied to me about anything yet.
  42. [22:03] <@visceralVanguard> Your informants?
  43. [22:03] <@visceralVanguard> Trusting informants with the fact that killing yourself is a prudent course of action is quite a step of faith.
  44. [22:03] <jocoseZirconium> From what I can understand, they're acolytes or projections of some dark god.
  45. [22:03] <jocoseZirconium> Yes, I thought so.
  46. [22:03] <jocoseZirconium> And yet I did, for the good of everyone.
  47. [22:03] <@visceralVanguard> Why did you do it then if it was such a risk?
  48. [22:04] <@visceralVanguard> Acolytes of a dark god informing me that everything is dying and telling me to kill myself does not seem very convincing of a reason to commit suicide.
  49. [22:04] <jocoseZirconium> Oh, they didn't say they were acolytes of a dark god.
  50. [22:04] <jocoseZirconium> But the evidence was there pretty muich.
  51. [22:04] <@visceralVanguard> Still, my point stands.
  52. [22:04] <jocoseZirconium> Came from some necronomicon lookalike, energy projections, etc.
  53. [22:05] <jocoseZirconium> I did it because it was calculated.
  54. [22:05] <@visceralVanguard> What do you mean?
  55. [22:05] <jocoseZirconium> Either I risk it now and die, or I die later beneath a horde of Dersites.
  56. [22:05] <jocoseZirconium> Now, I can change this session for the better, and win.
  57. [22:05] <jocoseZirconium> And save the planets, the lizards.
  58. [22:06] <@visceralVanguard> So essentially you were trapped in a situation of near certain death, so you had little to lose.
  59. [22:06] <jocoseZirconium> Essentially less.
  60. [22:06] <jocoseZirconium> I thought out my choices, and chose this one.
  61. [22:06] <jocoseZirconium> It paid off, luckily.
  62. [22:06] <@visceralVanguard> What do you mean by you can change your session for the better?
  63. [22:06] <@visceralVanguard> I am afraid that I am woefully underinformed when it comes to this revival process.
  64. [22:06] <jocoseZirconium> I intend to convince my fellow players to repeat the process, with less suicide.
  65. [22:07] <jocoseZirconium> It was a jarring experience to be honest.
  66. [22:07] <@visceralVanguard> The only sources I have on the matter either refuse to provide me details or are incredibly unhelpful.
  67. [22:07] <jocoseZirconium> I'll find them, then kill them.
  68. [22:07] <jocoseZirconium> I can inform you, If you'd like.
  69. [22:07] <@visceralVanguard> I would not pressure them into something so drastic if I were you.
  70. [22:07] <jocoseZirconium> It's our only choice.
  71. [22:07] <jocoseZirconium> The session ends in 12 hours, probably less.
  72. [22:07] <@visceralVanguard> Yes, you may see it as a reasonable course of action, but pressuring everyone into letting you murder them is not something you should dive into lightly.
  73. [22:07] <@visceralVanguard> You have a time limit?
  74. [22:08] <jocoseZirconium> Yes.
  75. [22:08] <jocoseZirconium> Normally I'd never take such drastic measures.
  76. [22:08] <jocoseZirconium> But I overheard some plans, and my informants corroborate.
  77. [22:09] <@visceralVanguard> Forcing death upon people, even if for a noble cause, it not without repercussions.
  78. [22:09] <jocoseZirconium> I fully understand.
  79. [22:09] <@visceralVanguard> You were very clearly in a situation where you had little choice, but others may not feel the same way.
  80. [22:09] <@visceralVanguard> Be careful.
  81. [22:09] <jocoseZirconium> Yes.
  82. [22:09] <jocoseZirconium> I've found one willing volunteer who will hear me out.
  83. [22:09] <jocoseZirconium> A troll, who is apparently feudal as I am.
  84. [22:09] <jocoseZirconium> Did you know there is another sentient race?
  85. [22:10] <@visceralVanguard> You have not met all of the members of your game yet?
  86. [22:10] <jocoseZirconium> No.
  87. [22:10] <jocoseZirconium> I only sent a memo.
  88. [22:10] <@visceralVanguard> Oh dear.
  89. [22:10] <jocoseZirconium> Face to face, I've only met one still.
  90. [22:10] <jocoseZirconium> This is going to be difficult, I will concede that.
  91. [22:10] <@visceralVanguard> I am no longer surprised your game is facing such difficulties if everyone has not even met the rest of the players.
  92. [22:11] <@visceralVanguard> It is a game of teamwork after all.
  93. [22:11] <jocoseZirconium> Indeed.
  94. [22:11] <jocoseZirconium> I didn't even realize this until recently.
  95. [22:11] <jocoseZirconium> Luckily my "God tier" powers give me some advantages for grouping my players.
  96. [22:11] <jocoseZirconium> I should be able to remotely locate them,.
  97. [22:11] <@visceralVanguard> This is a point of interest that I have been curious about.
  98. [22:11] <jocoseZirconium> Oh, I'm apparently a "Knight of Life"
  99. [22:12] <@visceralVanguard> My sources have been incredibly unhelpful on this topic.
  100. [22:12] <@visceralVanguard> We have one player who has revived in this manner, and he calls himself an "Heir of Hope"
  101. [22:12] <jocoseZirconium> Oh?
  102. [22:12] <@visceralVanguard> He, as you know, has gained the ability to fly
  103. [22:12] <@visceralVanguard> But he has not been very communicative on the topic of any other consequences of his revival.
  104. [22:12] <@visceralVanguard> He is actually quite atrocious at being communicative in general.
  105. [22:13] <jocoseZirconium> Perhaps I could speak with him?
  106. [22:13] <jocoseZirconium> Another of his abilities might help.
  107. [22:13] <@visceralVanguard> I have tried to sift through his nonsensical babbling, and I have gleaned some nuggets of information, but not enough to anywhere near fully understand what happened to him.
  108. [22:13] <jocoseZirconium> I can give you the precise information.
  109. [22:13] <@visceralVanguard> He isn't crazy or anything, he is just really really awful at expressing verbally what is in his brain.
  110. [22:14] <@visceralVanguard> Yes, that is what I was hoping for.
  111. [22:14] <jocoseZirconium> Excellent.
  112. [22:14] <@visceralVanguard> I have a couple specific questions as well.
  113. [22:14] <jocoseZirconium> Let me outline the process.
  114. [22:14] <@visceralVanguard> My understanding is this
  115. [22:14] <@visceralVanguard> Perhaps it can save you some time in explaining everything.
  116. [22:15] <jocoseZirconium> Sure.,
  117. [22:15] <@visceralVanguard> There are these slabs of rock that exist on each players world, and it is implied there is only one per player though I have not had any way to test the veracity of this. If a player dies while on this slab, then they are revived on the battlefield on Skaia with new attire and the ability to fly.
  118. [22:15] <jocoseZirconium> Precisely.
  119. [22:16] <jocoseZirconium> With some gaps, of course.
  120. [22:16] <jocoseZirconium> The slabs are called Quest Beds.
  121. [22:16] <jocoseZirconium> They are rock recta.
  122. [22:16] <jocoseZirconium> Wait.
  123. [22:16] <jocoseZirconium> You are a human yes?
  124. [22:16] <@visceralVanguard> I suspect that there are other side effects that accompany this as well. Our player has mentioned some odd things happening to him that seem unexplainable through other means, and his dream self has vanished which I believe is correlated to his revival considering it disappeared around the same time.
  125. [22:16] <@visceralVanguard> Yes, I am a human.
  126. [22:16] <@visceralVanguard> Why does that matter?
  127. [22:16] <jocoseZirconium> Excellent.
  128. [22:16] <@visceralVanguard> Does the revival process work differently for different races?
  129. [22:17] <jocoseZirconium> Apparently, the Beds take the form of whatever is the cultural norm.
  130. [22:17] <@visceralVanguard> I was under the impression that troll biology was relatively similar to ours.
  131. [22:17] <jocoseZirconium> So for humans they are rectangles.
  132. [22:17] <@visceralVanguard> Oh, that is the only reason you asked?
  133. [22:17] <jocoseZirconium> Apparently so, but their Quest beds are circles.
  134. [22:17] <jocoseZirconium> I have no idea why, but yes.
  135. [22:17] <jocoseZirconium> It was.
  136. [22:17] <jocoseZirconium> Anyway.
  137. [22:17] <@visceralVanguard> That seems a reasonably insignificant detail.
  138. [22:17] <@visceralVanguard> But continue please.
  139. [22:17] <jocoseZirconium> I;d like to be through anyway.
  140. [22:17] <@visceralVanguard> Better thorough than lacking.
  141. [22:17] <jocoseZirconium> When it comes to randomly offing yourself, one cannot be too careful
  142. [22:18] <jocoseZirconium> Exactly.
  143. [22:18] <jocoseZirconium> Anyway.
  144. [22:18] <jocoseZirconium> There is actually an analogue to the quest bed on your moon, Derse or Prospit, called a Sacrificial Slab.
  145. [22:18] <jocoseZirconium> They provide the same purpose, but are difficult to find within your moon.
  146. [22:18] <jocoseZirconium> In my case, they were destroyed by dersite agents shortly after I Woke.
  147. [22:19] <jocoseZirconium> Now, these slabs are of a certain color and have a symbol of another color.
  148. [22:19] <jocoseZirconium> As a Life Player, mine was grey, with a a green symbol on it.
  149. [22:19] <@visceralVanguard> "Life Player"?
  150. [22:19] <jocoseZirconium> The symbol seems to be like two tentacles, or squiggles of some kind.
  151. [22:19] <jocoseZirconium> Yes.
  152. [22:20] <jocoseZirconium> I'm not sure what these "aspects" as the acolytes called them, really are, but I'd guess they dictate what domain we control.
  153. [22:20] <jocoseZirconium> As a Knight of Life, I can apparently control life with my... Mind?
  154. [22:20] <jocoseZirconium> I'm not sure how really.
  155. [22:20] <jocoseZirconium> But I can make things grow, or age quickly, as well as minor telekinesis on them,
  156. [22:20] <@visceralVanguard> So you mean to say that this revival process has provided you with additional abilities of some short?
  157. [22:20] <jocoseZirconium> It has
  158. [22:20] <jocoseZirconium> Many extra abilities.
  159. [22:21] <jocoseZirconium> To the point of, with great difficulty on my part, reviving the dead.
  160. [22:21] <jocoseZirconium> But only once.
  161. [22:21] <@visceralVanguard> That sounds quite useful indeed.
  162. [22:21] <jocoseZirconium> It will most definitely prove useful.
  163. [22:22] <jocoseZirconium> I can also do something that i believe is limited to knights, which makes me gain some sort of luck or something.
  164. [22:22] <jocoseZirconium> I'm not quite sure about that.
  165. [22:22] <@visceralVanguard> I wonder why our player has not seemed to experience the same sort of acquisition of new abilities that you have.
  166. [22:22] <jocoseZirconium> Good question.
  167. [22:22] <jocoseZirconium> Could it be that he is an "Heir" while I am a "Knight"?
  168. [22:22] <@visceralVanguard> Perhaps.
  169. [22:23] <@visceralVanguard> We really have very little information on what those titles actually mean.
  170. [22:23] <jocoseZirconium> There are too many gaps, Its infuriating.
  171. [22:23] <@visceralVanguard> It is also entirely possible, knowing him, that he simply is not aware that such new abilities exist or how he can use them.
  172. [22:23] <jocoseZirconium> Hopefully if I recruit more people I can figure out moer about the mysterious revival processes.
  173. [22:23] <jocoseZirconium> And I'm not sure about that.
  174. [22:23] <jocoseZirconium> I seemed to know these abilities intuitively.
  175. [22:24] <@visceralVanguard> I believe you severely overestimate this players intuition
  176. [22:24] <jocoseZirconium> I may.
  177. [22:24] <@visceralVanguard> It seems unlikely, but I would place it squarely in the realm of possibility.
  178. [22:24] <@visceralVanguard> Have you experienced any negative side effects of this revival process?
  179. [22:24] <jocoseZirconium> Not that I've seen.
  180. [22:24] <@visceralVanguard> In most games, being revived almost always carries with it some penalties or cost.
  181. [22:25] <@visceralVanguard> That is worrisome.
  182. [22:25] <jocoseZirconium> From what I know, even my clothes are the same durability as my scale mail, and I can obviously use them as a computer as they did.
  183. [22:25] <jocoseZirconium> And of course, they're supremely comfy.
  184. [22:25] <jocoseZirconium> I highly recommend it.
  185. [22:26] <@visceralVanguard> This is the main reason why I have always myself and recommended others to exercise caution.
  186. [22:26] <@visceralVanguard> Not because of a doubt that the revival process will be successful, but that there may be negative consequences of which we are unaware.
  187. [22:26] <jocoseZirconium> Indeed.
  188. [22:26] <@visceralVanguard> Throwing away extra lives is not something that should be done lightly.
  189. [22:26] <jocoseZirconium> I've only had my powers for... maybe an hour now.
  190. [22:26] <@visceralVanguard> Even if it grants additional boons.
  191. [22:26] <jocoseZirconium> Drawbacks are extremely possible.
  192. [22:28] <jocoseZirconium> For now, its the only option I believe I have.
  193. [22:28] <@visceralVanguard> Unfortunately, not having a choice in matters seems to be quite a trend in this game.
  194. [22:28] <jocoseZirconium> Indeed.
  195. [22:29] <jocoseZirconium> How is your game going, anyway?
  196. [22:29] <@visceralVanguard> Uncertain.
  197. [22:29] <jocoseZirconium> Uncertain?
  198. [22:29] <@visceralVanguard> Not having a choice in matters has been an increasing trend to say the least.
  199. [22:29] <@visceralVanguard> Uncertain in that it is uncertain how our game is going.
  200. [22:29] <@visceralVanguard> I cannot say at the present.
  201. [22:29] <@visceralVanguard> I have, thus far, been able to keep the threats to our game at bay and under control.
  202. [22:30] <@visceralVanguard> But it is very uncertain how long that will be able to last.
  203. [22:30] <jocoseZirconium> Nice.
  204. [22:30] <jocoseZirconium> I wish I could claim that.
  205. [22:30] <@visceralVanguard> There are quite a few conflicts that are looming on the horizon that I foresee very little I will be able to do anything about.
  206. [22:30] <@visceralVanguard> At the present I am exploring my land.
  207. [22:31] <@visceralVanguard> Searching for the location of my "quest bed" as you call it is one of the things on my mental task list.
  208. [22:31] <jocoseZirconium> If it isnt too personal,
  209. [22:31] <jocoseZirconium> What do you plan to do once you find it?
  210. [22:31] <@visceralVanguard> I have no intention of using it at the moment, but I believe it would be a very good thing to have up my sleeve in the case of emergencies.
  211. [22:31] <jocoseZirconium> True.
  212. [22:32] <@visceralVanguard> Perhaps I will consider suicide, assisted or otherwise, more appropriate an option in the future, but only after I have acquired more information.
  213. [22:32] <jocoseZirconium> A good choice
  214. [22:32] <@visceralVanguard> As morbid as it may sound, please keep me posted on your murder quest.
  215. [22:32] <jocoseZirconium> I am just a random stranger.
  216. [22:32] <jocoseZirconium> And I will.
  217. [22:32] <jocoseZirconium> It is always pleasant talking to you.
  218. [22:32] <@visceralVanguard> I cannot say I support it, but if you are decided, then at least collecting data is a positive outcome that can come of it.
  219. [22:33] <jocoseZirconium> Indeed.
  220. [22:33] <jocoseZirconium> Alright.
  221. [22:33] <jocoseZirconium> I'm nearing the planet now.
  222. [22:33] <jocoseZirconium> Wish me luck I suppose.
  223. [22:33] <@visceralVanguard> I wish I had luck to wish you, but I hope your efforts prove fruitful.
  224. [22:34] <@visceralVanguard> At the present, I am exploring, but there is a great deal of darkness around me.
  225. [22:34] <jocoseZirconium> Best of luck to you in exploring your land.
  226. [22:34] <jocoseZirconium> Oh, and on a last note,
  227. [22:34] <@visceralVanguard> If you contact me later and I do not reply immediately, it is likely I am occupied at the moment with one of the aforementioned great threats on the horizon.
  228. [22:34] <jocoseZirconium> What is your land?
  229. [22:34] <@visceralVanguard> My land?
  230. [22:34] <@visceralVanguard> It is the Land of Wicks and Bulbs.
  231. [22:34] <jocoseZirconium> Interesting.
  232. [22:35] * visceralVanguard sends jocoseZirconium a file: LOWAB.JPGX
  233. [22:36] <@visceralVanguard> ((http://i.imgur.com/FBm0NgH.jpg kinda like that))
  234. [22:36] <@visceralVanguard> It is a land full of beautiful light above and seas of unending darkness below.
  235. [22:36] <jocoseZirconium> It looks beautiful, honestly.
  236. [22:36] <jocoseZirconium> How do you travel?
  237. [22:36] <@visceralVanguard> It really is quite wonderful, honestly. Barring the murderous insanity in the sea of darkness below.
  238. [22:37] <jocoseZirconium> Ah.
  239. [22:37] <jocoseZirconium> My land is the Land of Reptiles and Shedding.
  240. [22:37] <@visceralVanguard> I have a pair of wings that I use to travel.
  241. [22:37] <jocoseZirconium> Its mostly jungle and all sizes of lizard.
  242. [22:37] <@visceralVanguard> As you can tell, being stranded on top of one of those rocky spires with no mechanism of fight was quite unfortunate.
  243. [22:37] <jocoseZirconium> Oh yes, I forgot about your wings.
  244. [22:37] <@visceralVanguard> I have been able to travel quite nicely since acquiring wings however.
  245. [22:39] <jocoseZirconium> Alright farewell.
  246. [22:39] <jocoseZirconium> It has been great talking.
  247. [22:39] <@visceralVanguard> Indeed.
  248. [22:39] <jocoseZirconium> I'll keep you informed about my whereabouts.
  249. [22:39] <@visceralVanguard> I hope that the two of us are successful in facing our current monumental problems.
  250. [22:40] <jocoseZirconium> As do i.
  251. [22:41] * visceralVanguard [VV] has bid farewell to jocoseZirconium [JZ]
