  3. We'd like to clear the air about a couple of recent network bans.
  4.  
  5. The bans are against; Necrai, CarnivaL and Sleep
  6.  
  7. I will talk about the events that happened in the order they happened;
  8.  
  9. Session ID Hacking;
  10. If someone gets your Minecraft Console Log, they are able to hack into your account using your Session ID. Never share your Minecraft Console Log with anyone.

  14. Hack #1;
  15. Necrai asked a xSpencer (Mineplex staff member) for help. He said that his Minecraft client was broken, and requested for xSpencer to send him a copy of his Minecraft Console to help fix it. xSpencer (being an awesome and helpful guy) obliged.

  17. Necrai didn't even use this log to 'fix' his Minecraft.

  19. xSpencer suggested that Necrai reinstall Minecraft, which 'worked'. Necrai is a smart guy, and if his Minecraft was actually broken, reinstalling is one of the first things he would've tried.

  21. Less than an hour later, xSpencers had his account hacked into, and the hackers went on a banning spree.

  24. Hack #2;
  25. Sleep asked ChuckNorris (Mineplex staff member) for help. This is pretty much the exact same thing that happened with the first hack. Sleep pretended that his Minecraft was broken, and asked for a copy of Chucks Minecraft Console Log. ChuckNorris (being another awesome and helpful guy) sent it to Sleep.

  27. Again, this did not help Sleep in any way.

  29. I spoke to Sleep about this, and he denied that he had any involvement in the hack on ChuckNorris. When I asked sleep why he thought these console logs would help, he said “i don’t know, i’m not very good with computers”.

  31. Less than an hour later, ChuckNorris had his account hacked into, and the hackers went on a banning spree.

  35. Network Bans;
  36. In both of these situations, we feel that there is enough circumstantial evidence to ban both Necrai and Sleep. It is important to us to protect our staff team and community from dangerous people.

  38. As a programmer, the concept of needing someone else’s console log to ‘fix’ Minecraft makes absolutely no sense. As soon as i heard this, i immediately knew it was just a phishing scam to get into their accounts.

  41. Confession #1;
  42. CarnivaL made a wall post on his Mineplex profile, admitting that Sleep, Necrai and himself intentionally hacked the staff members accounts.

  45. Shortly after posting on his wall, he deleted the wall post and both videos from YouTube (we suspect that Necrai or Sleep asked him to remove it).

  47. Luckily we took a screenshot, and managed to record one of the two videos;

  50. This video shows them inside xSpencers account, banning people.
  51. Many of our staff were able to identify that one of the voices is definitely Necrai.

  53. After seeing this evidence and confession, we have no doubt that these three partook in the intentional phishing and hacking of staff accounts.

  55. Theft from Mineplex Store;
  56. Shortly after all this took place, we found out there was an exploit in Enjin which allowed people to ‘buy’ any item without paying.

  58. Upon investigating, it was found that it was Sleep doing a vast majority of these transactions.

  60. The fraudulent purchases were made through his Enjin account, and the IP address matched the IP address that he was using on Skype. There is no doubt that he was doing this.

  62. We suspect that Necrai and CarnivaL were also involved, but lack proof.

  65. Confession #2;
  66. Some people have been accusing me of 'blackmailing' Sleep. Here's what actually happened.

  68. As i mentioned earlier, after Hack #2, i had long conversation with Sleep. He acted very polite, and denied having any part in it.

  70. After the theft from the store, and CarnivaLs confession, i went back to talk to Sleep to ask him to leave our community forever. Here is the non-edited logs;

  73. I know i come across as a bit snarky here. But i was frustrated, and felt very betrayed by him. I spent an hour of my time being polite to him and giving him a fair chance - and all he did was lie to my face.

  76. Aftermath
  77. Since being banned, they seem to be on a personal vendetta against Mineplex. They are spreading rumors, attacking staff, and trying to cause controversy.

  79. We suggest that everyone break communication with them, and ignore everything they have to say.

  82. I hope that sheds some light on the situation, and why these three were banned from Mineplex and Enjin.
