During the morning of the 46th day of the settlement, Preston wakes up to find a letter having been delivered to him. It bears the insignia of his family house, although there is something odd about it. It seems like the wax with which is was made is not the usual type of wax? It looks like a dark wax, but despite dark it is not black, almost as if it is stuck between the two.
At the same time, Taranis wakes up to a neat row of spider eggs (which he does not recall picking) next to him. As he gets up, they seem to form a rather odd shape, almost like a circle with a wave going through it.
Staxyn, who has suffered from nightmares all night, wakes up with a coldsweat, and experiences remembering parts of the dream which did not seem, now, that it was a normal dream
The sentient tree-man, Cedar, finds that his branches have sprouted leaves that seem to make out the shape of words in a language that, despite him not knowing it, makes perfect sense to him. He ponders the reasoning behind these words, maybe not quite understanding why his leaves made words during the night.
Diamond Spider is shouted awake in his tent by Blue Dolphin, who is acting like someone who has seen a ghost, shouting and yelling at Diamond about missing something that was here, in his tent. Something old, ancient, something hidden between the worlds. Diamond wakes up and stares around his alchemy lab, and finds a scroll in the typical fashion of a letter from his Bureay lying on his table, with a small distinction: The scroll is not covered in the normal Halo of light.
Al Ghouti wakes up, and upon inspecting his new accomodations on land instead on the ship, he sees that the giant Egg in the storage house has cracks on it. Upon closer inspection, he feels like there is something really odd about these cracks, and calls for Tordi to help him. While they stand and watch, Akilu and Odhnar walk over too, to look at what is the deal. Odhnar wanted some meat, but there are so many here now that he cant get it. Halgrim keeps an eye on this from a distance, but is otherwise not interested, as something or someone has made intricate carvings on his wooden leg during the last night
Constance, while sitting at her desk doing her daily duties, gets a visit from her aide, who brings her news of all of these events (which have been reported) to Constance, and asks for any advice, or if she wants to do something about it. Melodie does not notice much during her sleep, but when she wakes up, she will find that someone, or something, has made colored patterns in her fur, which closely resembles the ones made on halgrims wooden leg
Metal Man will be found "turned off" near the river, as if he is sleeping. Metalman suffered what can only be described as an Overload of Essence last night, which not only overcharged him, but also parted with memories, or knowledge, or fragments of words and meanings and intents. His mind is reeling to compartmentalize these new bits of information as his interntal clock resets and starts ticking again within half an hour
Despite the Staff of Xbah'pu not noticing anything during the night, Henry Avery has dreams of the settlement, but emptied and dark, yet despite being dark, it is not night. It is bright enough to see by, yet it is not day. During the dream he sees a towering shadow in the distance, and when he focuses of it, it collapses, or sinks, or dissappears into the ground.
