- +nationalparksign __ When the English speakers attempt to speak Russian it is very cringe-worthy (they do not seem to make an effort to pronounce it like a Russian).
- They also only ever speak simple things (and usually just one or two words) that are easy to pronounce. Something they could have learned/rehearsed before the "video". I've collected a few samples of this. The only "astronaut" who I have heard/seen speak the most Russian at a time has been "Chris Hadfield" - but when he spoke it was EDITED/CUT! It could have taken an hour to get his 15 seconds of Russian right.
- This is one of the reasons I would like to "test" them on their Russian. I don't believe they have anything beyond rudimentary Russian language acquisition.
- For a long time I've paid close attention to "native English speakers" who "claim to speak Russian" and what I see are mostly fakes or people who know a small vocabulary that allows them to "wing it".
- I can show you some videos on this - but you'd need to know some Russian to know just how bogus they are.
- The problem is - to a Russian - if you make the right sounds it can seem like you know Russian. Just as if someone who doesn't know English makes the right sounds.
- And you have to be a native English speaker who is also learning Russian to know just how full of sh!t these people are. FRAUDS.
- The fact they are so full of sh!t about it lends weight to the idea it is all bogus.
- In fact - that might be a good strategy when communicating with "normal people" to ask them about their beliefs about how "everyone must learn Russian to be an 'astronaut'" etc.
- A few days/weeks ago I wrote a post where I was going to make a video on this - I'll eventually get around to it and it will be undeniable how fraudulent they are.
- (For what it's worth: the Russians definitely know [at least some] English - but that is not surprising. Just as it's not surprising that "Chris Hadfield" would know [at least some] French.)
- Of those who I have come across who are "winging it" with their Russian they all fail when it comes to READING in Russian. They can't do it.
- I would like to show these "astronauts" something written in Russian and get them to read it out loud and then explain it. ))
- *Just how the f_kc can they pilot a "Soyuz" - which we're told is entirely in Russian [hence why they must learn it] - if you cannot even do that?!*
- Who would allow a person who does not know much of the language to be in control of something that is purportedly worth tens of millions and risk everyone's life?
- That is absurd. *MIND BLOWN!*
