Left ignores certain racisms

Notice: This post isn’t trying to paint any group of people as racist as a whole. It’s just to demonstrate that the Left ignores racism when it’s exhibited members of historically oppressed minorities.

African Americans ([13%](https://archive.is/37jVr/) of the population) were over-represented in hate crimes in the last decade, committing between a fifth and a quarter of them (2011-2020: [20.9%](https://archive.is/2PTwX), [23.3%](https://archive.is/K6Ela), [24.3%](https://archive.is/BhumW), [23.2%](https://archive.is/9hTET), [24.3%](https://archive.is/PhmIU), [26.1%](https://archive.is/wip/BMea7), [21.3%](https://archive.is/GGJ3p), [24.0%](https://archive.is/Poso0), [23.9%](https://archive.is/b6ujG), [20.2%](https://archive.is/OOGmq)), compared to whites who’ve fluctuated between fifty and sixty percent (59.0%, 54.6%, 52.4%, 52.0%, 48.4%, 46.3%, 50.7%, 53.6%, 52.5%, 55.2%), which would be disproportionately low as their share of the total population has only just become [60%](https://archive.is/37jVr). And that’s with prosecutors like Chesa Boudin who [decline to prosecute](https://archive.is/hUsBu) black folks who [whip old Asian men](https://files.catbox.moe/4oe8hb.mp4) while saying “I hate Asian people.”

If you look at NYC’s 2018 Crime Enforcement Report:

> Hate crime suspects are most frequently Black (55.0%), White (23.6%) or Hispanic (20.0%). Asian/Pacific Islanders accounted for (1.4%) of the remaining suspects.

African Americans make roughly a [quarter](https://archive.is/7qhOw) of the NYC population, but commit the majority of its hate crimes.

In fact, African Americans were the single largest offender category that violently victimized Asians pre-pandemic per the 2018 NCVS data at 27.5%, which was more than double their percentage ([13%](https://archive.is/37jVr)) of the population.

Same thing with those [NYC reports](https://www1.nyc.gov/site/nypd/stats/reports-analysis/crime-enf.page). They started and discontinued reporting hate crimes with the 2018 report (released in 2019).  The hate crime category is noticeably absent in the [report on 2019](https://www1.nyc.gov/assets/nypd/downloads/pdf/analysis_and_planning/year-end-2019-enforcement-report.pdf) and the [report on 2020](https://www1.nyc.gov/assets/nypd/downloads/pdf/analysis_and_planning/year-end-2020-enforcement-report-20210721.pdf).

In LA:

> Anti-Asian crimes were committed most often by Latino/as (42%), followed by whites (32%) and blacks (26%). This represented an increase in the percentage of anti-Asian crimes committed by Latino/as and blacks and a slight decline in those committed by white suspects.

Which is all well and good until you consider LA’s demographics:

- Hispanic or Latino (of any race): 47.5%

- Non-Hispanic Whites: 29.4%

- Asian: 10.7%

- Black or African American: 9.8%

A tenth of LA’s population but a quarter of its anti-Asian hate crimes.

Just 15% say it refers only to discrimination by white people against minorities.
