  57. An inventor named Flint Lockwood who is often regarded as a failure suddenly invents a machine that can turn water into food. When he accidentally shoots it into the sky, it rains food everywhere in Swallow Falls. But when the machine has a mind of it's own and creates a food hurricane, Flint finds he may have bitten off more than he can chew.
  58. Flint Lockwood thinks he's a genius. But none of the things he invented are things that make sense or are useful. However, he has the support of his mother but when she dies, he's left alone with his father who thinks he should give it up. When the community that he lives in is in an economic crisis because their primary source of income, a sardine cannery, was shut down, Flint decides to try his latest invention, a machine that can turn water into food. But something goes wrong and the machine ends up in the atmosphere. Later it starts raining food. The shifty mayor tries to use this as a way to help their community, but when Flint senses something wrong with the machine, the mayor convinces him to ignore it. However, as Flint predicts, chaos ensues.

First, my personal favorites are the lion king and the little mermaid (and the lady and the tramp).. that was the old this is the new! cool story line and fantasy for kids growing up these days. if i was a kid today, i would absolutely be fantasizing about food falling from the sky. I don&#39;t usually enjoy kids&#39; movies but this one is a must see. i found myself falling in love with the characters and the story. <br/><br/>The voice over is brilliant. i can see that the cast was focused and into the making of this film. Nothing will ever be perfect but this is about as close to a perfect kids&#39; movie there is going to be. Enjoyable for the whole family. (even old grumpy over there ;)<br/><br/>Favorite moments = the visuals, the violence, and the visually violent dialog. it was like watching old popeye and bugs bunny cartoons again. but in 3D. loved it!<br/><br/>down sides = none really. (maybe the big head characters.. it&#39;s not as elegant &quot;looking&quot; as a Disney flick but who cares! enjoyy :)
  60. Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs is the story of Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) an inventor who has yet to invent a successful invention. All this changes when his invention that goes haywire at a big event in the island town of Chew and Swallow causes it to rain any kind of food that a person could think of. This also brings weather girl Sam Sparks (Anna Farris) to Chew and Swallow to cover the raining food. We also are treated to great voice performances from the following people: James Caan as the father and voice reason to Flint, Mr. T as the town&#39;s only policeman and Bruce Campbell in an hilarious role as the town&#39;s mayor. As the food begins to fall the story becomes a tiny bit predictable but the writing is brilliant with lots of bits that tie up nicely by the end of the film and the ending I related to somewhat and nearly had a tear in my eye because of it.<br/><br/>Animation wise Cloudy is amazing and I really think it&#39;ll help in giving it a shot to &quot;Upset&quot; &quot;Up!&quot; this year at the academy awards. I&#39;ve read in a couple other reviews that the 3D version of Cloudy is even more amazing animation wise so if you have a theater with 3D projection defiantly check out Cloudy in 3D.<br/><br/>All in all I have to say I enjoyed Cloudy a lot and while I didn&#39;t give it a full 10 out of 10 or 4 out of 4 stars on IMDb.Com and FlimCrave.com I still think that it has a really good chance to upset Pixar&#39;s run of Academy Awards for best animated film based mainly on two simple facts: Great story with lots of brilliantly written bits and amazing animation that I look forward to watching on Blu-Ray when it&#39;s released. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs a very filling movie appetite wise.

Unfortunately, Flint&#39;s machine has a mind of its own, and Flint must stop it before it destroys the world. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is a 1978 children&#39;s book written by Judi Barrett and illustrated by Ron Barrett. The book was adapted for the animated movie by Philip Lord and Christopher Miller who also co-directed the film. It is followed by <a href="/title/tt1985966/">Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (2013)</a> (2013). Yes, in fact as early as 1965 American scientists held an experiment in which, for 4 months, they fed 24 men nothing but synthetic chemicals created in a lab (amino acids, vitamins, glucose, salts, and the fat ethyl linoeate), in the form of a tasteless goo. But food made in a lab is much more expensive than food produced in the normal way. However, Flint&#39;s methods as presented in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs are not meant to be taken seriously: more than water would be needed to create synthetic food, and making it into something that looked like real food would be extremely difficult. However the plot was heavily changed: (1) Changed from fantasy to slight science fiction; (2) They never actually try to stop the food weather; (3) The weather was isolated to the island without any part of the world knowing about it, whereas in the movie, it becomes a tourist attraction and the food even spreads around the world; (4) Flint Lockwood, the girl meteorologist, the corrupt mayor, and most of the other characters in the movie don&#39;t exist in the book; (5) The island had no association with sardines, it always rained food at the island; (6) There was no mount leftovers; (7) They never ever come back to the island; (8) The kids don&#39;t get excited with the no school; and (9) The book plot had nothing to do with many themes in the movie i.e. fame, family, individuality. a5c7b9f00b
