  1. -Nolan Voss-
  2.
  3. Quite often Nolan wondered if things would have been better off if he had died long ago...

  7. Nolan was born unlike any other child, very ill with not much time at all. The disease would take his legs first, all of his fine motor skills would follow, and eventually his life. Any one old enough would to understand for themselves would bear these side effects paired with immense pain. Nolan's poor mother, widowed, would have to watch with no way to help than to reach out with unanswered prayers. Everything changed one night when she was visited by a creature in the middle of the night. A dark rust colored creature with a crown of horns that stood tall and muscular, and wrapped around his arms what appeared to be hundreds of papers. Abruptly ending one of her prayers he confessed that he could heal her poor son for a price, her most valued possession. Instantly agreeing to the creatures offer, willing to take any route necessary to help Nolan, the demon produced one of that papers for her and told her to sign. He explained that it was a binding contract holding her to her word and that he would let her enjoy the moment and would one day return for his payment. A snap of his fingers, and a crooked smile and everything seemed to be much better! Before the creature could leave, Nolan's mother quickly asked who she had to thank for such a kind deed. Turning back he replied, "Razzeth."

  11. Years would pass, and Nolan grew up a normal healthy human boy and eventually into a handsome young man. He had shaggy brown hair with a well kept beard, average height and build. Eventually he would grow out of his boyhood home and become a farmer in a small remote village. The day he left his mother would leave him with nothing but a hug and a small tarnished gold pocket watch that she claimed would belong to his grandfather. That would be the last time he would see his mother for a very long time. Everything would seem to go perfect for Nolan, an honest living farming, a healthy body, and maybe even a love interest to top it all off. But, one one of Nolan's better nights he would be visited by the same strange creature that made an appearance with his mother years ago. The creature would introduce himself as Razzeth and explain the contract signed by his mother that night. How she sold her most valued possession for his well being.
  12.
  13. "And what if I refuse?" Nolan protested.
  14.
  15. "Than the contract will be void" Razzeth chuckled, snapping his fingers. In that instant 20 years of a crippling disease and all the pain to go with it was forced back upon Nolan. He fell to the ground screaming in pain unable to move let alone try and get up. After a quick second everything vanished as if it had never happened. "I think you'll understand now.
  16.
  17. "She sold my soul for my own well being?" Nolan exclaimed to the demon, jumping to conclusion.
  18.
  19. Razzeth seeing the golden opportunity to come out even further on top gave his crooked smile. "Most valued possession. All you need to do is sign and everything will be okay." He said producing a new contract.
  20.
  21. Nolan quickly jumped up and signed the contract to avoid another moment of pain.
  22.
  23. "You know belong to me. As such it does have his perks. I'll call upon you from time to time for a little help here and there. In return, if you oblige, I will grant you power you could only dream of. To help make your travels a little safer for you and my tasks a little less daunting. That being said you start now. You will no longer need this shack. Forget about this small nameless town and everyone in it, because you will never see them again and they will never think twice about you." Razzeth snapped his fingers, quickly disappearing, and leaving behind a large flame to spread through out the house. Inside Nolan's head he could hear a voice say, "Gather your things quick, you don't have much time." Nolan would escape the blaze that would devour his entire home and farm. Through a few rumors he would hear most people assumed he never made it out of the blaze safely..

  27. Years more would pass as Nolan would travel place to place never staying around for more than a few days. His brown hair and beard would start to show touches of grey. He would lose his farming clothes for some dark leather armor and a black hooded cloak to match. He would wear darker colors to lay low and never try to draw too much attention to himself at any time. His positive demeanor slowly faded to the harsh blunt attitude of an ageing man. Occasionally you may catch him paying a little attention to a golden pocket watch he keeps in a pocket closest to him in his cloak. Whenever he's not running errands for Razzeth you may find him in the back of a bar drinking himself to death or picking up extra work for coin to spend drinking more. Currently Nolan has heard of a town being terrorized by goblins and heard rumors of a noble offering pay for anyone willing to deal with the threat. An easy enough task for himself, he thinks, as he finally arrives ready to deal with the nuisance...
