  1. [17:34] Alesia Elisheva says, "...I-I'm sorry I'm late, uncle Cal..."
  2. [17:34] Calael Kang says, "Oh don't worry, I've just been watching the waves."
  3. [17:34] Calael Kang says, "This might best be learned outside so... we will attempt it in the sand."
  4. [17:35] Cordelia I. Avitus says, "....."
  5. [17:41] "So the technique known as the flameslide..." Calael said as he stepped out across the beach. He took put one foot in front of the other before continuing and held this stance for a moment. "...is where a fire magi kicks themselves forward while leaving a burst of flames in their wake. The idea comes from a build up of heat and adrenaline from the fight and releasing it all in one quick--" The demiangel shot forward, skidding across the sand as orange flickers danced along his way.
  6.
  7. Smoke ascended from where the sand was kicked up but given it wasn't flammable, it was all out within moment. "Slide!" he grinned at the dryad girl.
  8.
  9. "Now just as most fire magic we've determined comes from emotion rather than a direct focus, so too does the flameslide. It's one that you use when the there's enough pressure that has built up, and you focus it down. Personally I aim and envision it along the heels of my boots and that's how I get it to manifest. It's when you need to get close and personal to land a quick one-two across your opponent, and then you continue the slide to get right back out of range so you can use the rest of your spells."
  10.
  11. Cal put his hands on his hips and nodded to Alesia. "Alright. So go ahead, you try."
  12. (Calael Kang)
  13. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  14.
  15. [18:32] The ivory dryad does her best to mimic Calael's stance as he presents it, one planted in front of the other.
  16.
  17. The flameslide is performed by kicking against the ground, and leaving an explosion of fire behind you...
  18.
  19. That kind of makes sense.
  20.
  21. She takes a half-step back as the flames burst out in-front of her, surprised by the suddenness of the heat.
  22.
  23. Nodding as he explains that it works similar to how she's been using the rest of her fire magic, she takes a step forward, and tries to take the stance she saw her uncle take, one foot in-front of the other.
  24.
  25. Her eyes close as she focuses, calling upon her flames. Orange embers spark up along her arms, and within her hair, before spreading to enwrap her entire body.
  26.
  27. A flash of uncertainty crosses her face, as she begins to gather fire in her hands. She's never been overly physical...can she launch herself far enough...?
  28.
  29. Uncle Cal seems to have faith in her, though...so she needs to try, right?
  30.
  31. Even if she falls flat on her face.
  32.
  33. The small girl leans forward slightly...then presses her foot down against the sand, attempting to launch herself forward.
  34.
  35. Gathered fire in her hands bursts out behind her, sending her flying forward with basically no modicum of control.
  36.
  37. But she does leave a trail of fire behind her, even though it's uncontrolled.
  38.
  39. She runs out of gathered flames pretty quickly, and ends up tumbling head over heel before landing face-down in the sand.
  40. (Alesia Elisheva)
  41. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  42.
  43. [18:45] "That was good!"
  44.
  45. Cal clapped his hands together as some other people arrived at the beach throughout the course of the lesson. He gave Alesia a supportive grin and put his arms behind his back. "Take care with this one, as it can leave you open for a counter from your opponent."
  46.
  47. The demiangel tilted his head. "It'll take some practice to master, and I would recommend doing it in places where... well.. where your environment won't catch on fire, given this one is somewhat explosive. But yes.
  48.
  49. Good job."
  50. (Calael Kang)
  51. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  52.
  53. [19:14] Cordelia looked between the pair of them, still squinting. She took a step forward, speaking up,
  54.
  55. "Calael," She said, with a tone that betrayed her impatience. She had been waiting for a while and if she had been allowed to simply live as a person, she wouldn't have been as frustrated. But she was stuck on the beach.... With Children coming to bother her. Daily.
  56.
  57. More than just daily, it was all the time.
  58. (Cordelia I. Avitus)
  59. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  60.
  61. [19:19] It takes about a minute before the tiny girl brings herself to her feet, turning to look at her uncle.
  62.
  63. The embers surrounding her fall to the earth, gaze cast down slightly, hand rubbing her elbow.
  64.
  65. She speaks quietly, and without much confidence behind her words...but she's clearly glad she succeeded, even if it was...unrefined.
  66.
  67. "...w-was it really?"
  68.
  69. The dryad shifts around in place, then nods...
  70.
  71. "...I-I'll be careful, uncle. And...practice a lot...
  72.
  73. ...t-thank you...for teaching me..."
  74.
  75. And now her gaze goes to Cordelia, and she somehow manages to speak quieter than before.
  76.
  77. "...I'm sorry for taking my uncle's time...
  78.
  79. ...g-good luck..."
  80.
  81. Then, if unimpeded, the tiny dryad would begin to walk away slowly, gaze stuck to the ground.
  82. (Alesia Elisheva)
  83. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  84.
  85. [19:21] Calael Kang exclaims, "Yes, if you need more help I'll be here. BUT remember! Isaac's classes too!"
  86. [19:21] Alesia Elisheva says, "...he still hasn't posted when they're happening..."
  87. [19:21] Calael Kang asks, "Mm... maybe you should ask him personally?"
