  1. Examples of important Pressure Piping QA/QC documents
  2.
  3. This document introduces some of the important QA/QC documents that are typically used in the industry. The aim is to explain their definition and purpose and also point out different types of information they provide to the reader.
  4.
  5. List of Important Piping QC Documents
  6.
  7. Inspection Test Plan (ITP)
  8. Request for Information (RFI) /Non-Conformance Report (NCR)
  9. Welder Qualifications
  10. NDE Procedures/Qualifications/Results/Log
  11. Weld Procedures(WPS/PQR),Weld Map/Weld Log
  12. Pressure Test Procedures/Records
  13. Calibration Records
  14. Torque Procedures/Records/Maps
  15. Material Test Report (MTR)
  16. Line Designation Table (LDT)
  17. P&IDs/As-built drawings
  18. Punch Lists
  19.
  20. Inspection Test Plan (ITP):
  21.
  22. List of logical progression steps for inspections and tests
  23. Must be approved by owner prior to start of construction.
  24. Typically includes witness, review, hold, etc. points.
  25. Signed by Contractor, Owner and ABSA if applicable
  26.
  27. Material Test Report (MTR)
  28.
  29. MTR certifies:
  30. ASTM standards,
  31. Applicable dimensions,
  32. Physical and chemical specifications.
  33. Provides material traceability through heat numbers
  34. Tracking must be done upon receiving and during construction to ensure right components are used
  35. MTR can be useful for failure investigations
  36.
  37. Line Designation Table (LDT)
  38.
  39. Shows piping parameters such as line class, design pressure and temperature, test pressure, material, percent of NDE, etc.
  40. Lists all the lines in the project and is a valuable and quick reference for QC activities
  41.
  42. Piping Materials Classification
  43.
  44. Indicates line class and associated service, material, corrosion allowance and design parameters limitations for that class
  45. Lists description and rating of pipe, flanges, fittings, valves, etc. based on size of the item
  46. Must be traceable to Bill of Material and LDT
  47. Weld Map
  48.
  49. Weld map shows welded joints, joint number and welder ID on an isometric drawing. It can include date, repair or cut-out and NDE information such as RT or MT report number.
  50.
  51.
  52. Weld/NDE log
  53.
  54. Lists welding procedures. heat numbers, drawing numbers, size, etc.
  55. Weld log and weld map need to correlate and be traceable with supporting documentation.
  56. Welding Procedure Specification (WPS)
  57.
  58. Provides direction for making sound welds
  59. Shall be implemented to obtain required mechanical properties (Strength, hardness, etc.)
  60.
  61. Torque Sheet
  62.
  63. Documents torqueing of flanges
  64. Specifies fit-up checklist and torque values required
  65. States torqueing method and tool’s calibration information
  66. Identifies flange and gasket ratings
  67.
  68.
  69. Pressure test report
  70.
  71. States code of construction, type of test and line information
  72. Specifies test pressure and duration of hold time
  73. shows gage calibration information and test medium
