  1. Albine watched Alistair with visible concern, remaining silent. True, she had given herself to Zevran, but Alistair was still very important to her. She had been completely oblivious to Alistair's true feelings for her, though. She was used to people giving her lurid stares. Alistair was too much of a gentleman to look at her that way. She felt a bit guilty now. "Alistair..." She fell silent and said nothing else. It would be best to let Alistair be alone for a while. She honestly didn't know his feelings for her. She desired his warm embrace more than anything else from him. He had been there for her, both to comfort her and to help her keep her head on straight. Her eyes momentarily wandered back to Zevran. What had he given her? He was exotic, dangerous and devilishly handsome. He was a ruthless and efficient killer, and a talented and passionate lover. He had awakened a sensuality in her she never knew was there. He had also tried to kill her when they first met. He was a sketchy sort who, she had to accept, might betray her at any moment. She kept her eyes on the elf as she continued to think deeply, and in silence.

  3. Her thought process was interrupted by Wynne, who had approached her with a look of mixed concern and admonishment. "Albine, did you put any sort of thought into this? You're being rather selfish, you know." Albine stepped back from the older mage, crossing her arms and leveling her eyes with Wynne's. "Of course I did." Wynne's expression remained unchanged, and she did not back down. "It doesn't look that way to me. You're a Grey Warden now. Ferelden cannot afford to have one of its last Grey Wardens following her every emotional whim. And besides...look at what it did to Alistair." Albine teetered on her good leg, bearing her weight on it. "So because I'm a Grey Warden, I should know only suffering and sacrifice?" She uncrossed her arms and lightly tapped one hand into the palm of the other as she spoke. "I've got Darkspawn to deal with, Loghain's men after me on one end, the Crows coming from the other...I could die tomorrow. I could even die tonight if we're not careful enough. From now on, I'm going to take my pleasures where they can be found." Zevran was able to hear her from where he sat, almost echoing something he once said to her. Wynne narrowed her eyes a bit, briefly glancing to Zevran and back to Albine. "Grey Warden is more than just a fancy title you can swing around to get people to serve you. You have a responsibility, Albine. That responsibility calls for great sacrifice." Albine very nearly looked offended, giving Wynne a slight scowl. "More confinement. More restraint. More control. I joined the Grey Wardens to get away from the Tower and be able to have a life without a Templar lurking about every corner. I don't need you bringing that here." Without giving Wynne another opportunity to speak she stormed over toward Zevran and sat down next to him.
