  1. Whispers Of The Dark Mother (Style, • To •••••)
  2. Prerequisites: Mind ••, Occult ••, Completed Scrutiny And Deep Revelation On A Beast Within Its Lair
  3. You have thoroughly studied one of the Children of the Dark Mother, who is known to the Awakened as a Goetia roughly on par with the Aeons. This entity represents and embodies all of the fears of humanity, from the most primeval to the most abstract. This analysis can sometimes result in significant alterations to your Pattern. Some Mages try to explain this by saying that the Dark Mother is a Fallen reflection of the Raptor or equivalent Exarch. Therefore, such alterations are supposedly a sign of Resonance with said Supernal Symbol. Regardless of the cause, this Style has the following effects:
  4.
  5. (•): Active supernatural phenomena that are related to fear trigger your Peripheral Sight, and you know exactly why. It is not enough for the phenomenon to be scary in itself: it has to directly interact with fear and equivalent emotions as its main effect. Covert or passive supernatural phenomena do not trigger your Peripheral Sight, as usual. Furthermore, you are considered to have an additional Obsession for the Primordial Dream and all adjacent phenomena, which goes beyond the usual Gnosis-based limits.
  6.
  7. (••): You may deliberately flare your Nimbus to inflict the Frightened Condition, in addition to the usual Nimbus Tilt. Spend 1 Mana and roll Gnosis + Mind + [Style Rating] vs Resolve + Composure as an Instant Action. This is indiscriminate and affects everyone within your immediate vicinity, unless you also spend 1 Willpower, which does not add +3. This can only be done once per scene.
  8.
  9. (•••): You do not need to cast a Mind Shielding spell against supernaturally induced fear and adjacent emotions. You are considered to have a pseudo-spell with a similar function on you at all times, which triggers a Clash Of Wills against your Gnosis + Mind + [Style Rating].
  10.
  11. (••••): For any spell which incorporates at least one Yantra with strong semiotic resonance for the Temenos Realm known as the Primordial Dream (i.e. the Yantra must be worth at least +2 and related to fear), the roll to Contain Paradox benefits from 8 Again. If said Yantra gives +3, the roll to Contain Paradox benefits from Rote Quality instead.
  12.
  13. (•••••): By spending +1 Reach and 1 Mana, any Mind spell may receive the [Primordial] Tag. This means the spell does not take effect immediately upon a Success, but instead is triggered when the target next goes to sleep. This allows the spell to move along with the ebb and flow of the dreamscape's symbolism, thus automatically bypassing Withstand and benefiting from full Potency. Through Conjunction with other Arcana, the Mind spell causes psychosomatic effects on the sleeping individual which result in abnormal and chimerical Conditions and Tilts.
  14.
  15. These effects follow the dreamer into material reality upon waking up, but are based on nightmare-logic, and therefore may stretch the usual limits of what the spell can do. When Resolved, the Conditions and Tilts give Arcane Beats, so Mages often afflict themselves with such nightmares to deepen their Gnostic insights. At ST's discretion, if the Mage analyzes the dreams of the target beforehand, he may have finer control over what Conditions and Tilts he will cause. This can be done via Mind Knowing or Unveiling, or with mundane methods if the Mage wants to be more discreet.
