  17. ((Ethnicity, besides being part cat, I think of him being southern-Korean, the southern part because of his Texas daddy. Sexuality, in my opinion, I think that Keith would probably be pansexual, more focoused on peoples' personalities rather than looks or gender when seeking out a partner, but he'd be pretty damn deep in the closet about it, stubbornly feigning being straight to even his closest of friends. And in case you were wondering why I put Korean, it's because of his Asian ass name, and he's pretty damn white. I actually had the headcanon of Korean Keith before I read Dirty Laundry, believe it or not.

Ethnicity really doesn't mean much in the long run unless it's something important to you, and with Keith as an orphan from a young age, it's very unlikely that he'd have that strong of a connection to his culture, but again, this is your character, I just want to let you know that it's not like every character needs to be of a different ethnicity as a rule. ))

I don't really see Keith having much chemistry with the other Paladins, he seems to get the most interactions with Shiro and Lance, and I see Keith and Shiro's relationship as Shiro being the brother/father that Keith never had. And I also kinda lowkey ship Kidge cos it's kinda cute.

"It's BORING to have two Japanese characters in one RP" "They look alike so they must be brothers," "I can change his ethnicity because I'm willing to bend over backwards to make these two Asian characters related even when my partner specifically mentions not being comfortable with it," and the kicker, "They have to be related because LOOK AT THEIR NAMES!"

You've gone from lumping two unrelated East Asian ethnicities together, to making no distinction between the etymology of Japanese and Korean names, to arbitrarily changing the ethnicity of your character because """it seems kind of monotonous to have two characters japanese.""" Do you hear yourself? You're saying they have a good chance of being related because of their last names??? One of which isn't even confirmed canon??? Does Shirogane and Kogane look like the exact same to you? Do you think that two dudes named Jackson and Johnson have to be brothers, too?

What does your Japanese friend (awesome tokenism, by the way, very "I have a black friend" card of you) have to say about you trivializing a character's cultural background and treating East Asian identities as if they're interchangeable? What does your Japanese friend have to say about your unfortunate assumption that any two characters of the same ethnicity MUST be related because it's too unlikely for there to be two Japanese characters as friends?

Maybe now is the time for you to critically examine why you assume certain things to be the way they are and why you're trampling on the comfort of another roleplayer just so you can get your "cute big brother/father figure!!!" dynamic. Maybe now is the time to be a little more conscious of the kind of language you use and how it has the potential to reflect VERY poorly on you as a person. Maybe now is the time to stop saying, "I'm not racist :(((( Check out this Asian friend I have, they totally give me a free pass to say whatever I want!"
