  1. (In dialogue, the tactician character is called [Tact]. That's the code that makes the game say the player's name they put in at the beginning of the game.)
  2.
  3. ///C
  4. The tactician:
  5. So, about dragons... Do you mind talking about your race?
  6. Kiri:
  7. I don't mind. But vat makes you so interested in us?
  8. The tactician:
  9. Well, It's not every day a human sees a dragon.
  10. Kiri:
  11. I personally haven't interacted vith humans for a long time. I suppose this is a rare treat for me as vell. Fair enough. Vat do you vant to know?
  12. The tactician:
  13. This is something I've always wanted to ask... Are dragons divine beings? Are they really gods?
  14. Kiri:
  15. That is a bold question. But no. Ve're mortal, just like humans are. But I don't think I needed to tell you that. The dracozombies you have fought is evidence enough.
  16. The tactician:
  17. Yes...
  18. Kiri:
  19. Oh, ve live long lives. But ve die, ve bleed, just like you.
  20. The tactician:
  21. The Brauma faith certainly puts dragons on a pedestal.
  22. Kiri:
  23. Brauma did much for humans in the past. It is no vonder.
  24. The tactician:
  25. Although, come to think of it, Brauma herself is the only one called a god. Other dragons were seen simply as kin to the true deity.
  26. Kiri:
  27. Brauma vas... a special case, even among us dragons.
  28. The tactician:
  29. How so?
  30. Kiri:
  31. ... Another time, perhaps. I've said enough for today.
  32. The tactician:
  33. Hmm, very well...
  34.
  35. ///B
  36. Kiri:
  37. As I vas saying, Brauma vas unique even among other dragons. She existed long before all of us did. In fact, ve saw her as a divine mother much like humans did.
  38. The tactician:
  39. So she was ancient, even for a dragon, huh?
  40. Kiri:
  41. It vas uncanny... Even for us long lived creatures, she never seemed to age. She looked about as youthful as... er... Vell from a human standpoint, she looked about fourteen or fifteen. And she could communicate with... things...
  42. The tactician:
  43. Things?
  44. Kiri:
  45. Mages like yourself can communicate vith spirits, correct? It vasn't quite the same... These being vere... deeper, more profound. She gained much visdom from them... Though talking to them vore at her. And she claimed it was hard to decipher vat they were telling her.
  46. The tactician:
  47. ...
  48. Kiri:
  49. Brauma vas as much of a mystery to us dragons as she vas to humans. Ve dragons are not gods... But perhaps she vas one. Or maybe the things she spoke to vere the real thing. Ve may never know...
  50. The tactician:
  51. You solve one mystery and along comes another... That's about right...
  52.
  53. ///A
  54. The tactician:
  55. ...
  56. Kiri:
  57. Our last talk has greatly troubled you, hasn't it?
  58. The tactician:
  59. You could say that. I was hoping to learn all the answers by talking to you. But it looks like I've merely scratched the surface. I need some time to think about some things now. I don't think my mind could process any more right now. So no questions for today, Kiri. But I do thank you for all your help.
  60. Kiri:
  61. Humans really are a special case... You're never satisfied vith vat you have. You always need to push forward and progress.
  62. The tactician:
  63. Dragons aren't like that?
  64. Kiri:
  65. Most of us prefer to be stagnant. Ve don't change or seek greater knowledge. Ve pass down vat ve know of course but that is it...
  66. The tactician:
  67. Seems a bit mundane if you ask me.
  68. Kiri:
  69. Yes. Some of us began to think that as vell... But only after interacting vith your kind. Had it not been for humans, I feel like I'd be sitting on a rock somevhere. Not really thinking, merely existing. ... Honestly, if ve dragons vere more like humans... Maybe I vouldn't be the last one. If there vere more of us, if ve vere more avare... That Maximillian vouldn't have slaughtered us.
  70. The tactician:
  71. ...
  72. Kiri:
  73. Maybe Brauma vanted dragons to learn from humans... She didn't just vant to guide humans but us as vell... ... But humans have their own flaws though. You may end up destroying yourselves in the pursuit of enlightenment.
  74. The tactician:
  75. Hrm...
  76. Kiri:
  77. [Tact], you remind me of a man I used to know a long long time ago. He vas good friends vith both me and Brauma. However... His pursuit of power and knowledge brought forth great destruction. I have grown quite fond of you, [Tact]. I truly hope you do not repeat his mistakes.
  78. The tactician:
  79. ... I'll do my best.
  80. Kiri:
  81. I have no home to go to now... Maybe I'll just stick around and vatch you for a while. And if you fall out of line, I'll consider eating you.
  82. The tactician:
  83. Thanks... I... think?
  84. Kiri:
  85. Haha...
