- Rolling his eyes, Dave pocketed the mobile and returned to the ironically chocolate cupcakes in the oven. Christmas was quickly approaching, and John had taken it upon himself to invite Rose to the shared apartment and celebrate. Dave had to admit, he kind of missed the flighty broad, but he wasn't especially looking forward to the air of psychoanalysis and therapy that tended to follow her. Then again, he had a few hours before she would arrive, and John would be home from the last work shift before Christmas before long. No doubt the tubby boy would be able to buffer some of the inevitable rivalry, which meant Dave could relax for the time being and focus on his-oh what the fuck is that Rose pulling into the driveway?
- "God damnit." Shuffling into his familiar coolkid posture, he focused his attention on the cupcakes as Rose made her way into the apartment. The Seer had certainly grown somewhat since Dave had last seen her; it was clear she was on her way to inheriting her mother's striking legs, and the curve of her petite frame was more pronounced. As she closed the door behind her, she turned to Dave, giving him a glance with those rich purple eyes. "Good afternoon, Strider. I apologize for arriving before the scheduled hour, but I was fortunous enough to find myself with an early plane departure."
- "And here I figured you just bribed the pilots." Turning, Dave noted with muted delight that he was still the taller of the two siblings. Rose was catching up, of course, but as long as he could at least say he had a height advantage, he had an edge on the intimidation factor.
- Rose stepped forward, crossing her arms and tilting her head upwards at Dave. "I suppose this is the part where we embrace and wish each other a successful experience in the coming year." She paused slightly, glancing around. "Is John not here? I was led to believe you were still rooming."
- Dave scoffed and glanced at the oven behind his sunglasses. "Of course he's still here. When has anyone of his caliber been able to break away from the unsurmountable chill of a Strider?" Replaying the sentence over in his head, he grimly realized that Rose's sesquipedalian loquaciousness was beginning to rub off on him. "He'll be back from the office in a few minutes."
- Apparently content with such an answer, Rose took to perching on the couch, quietly tapping away at her laptop, while Dave stealthily finished the batch of cupcakes and slid them under the cupboard, away from her prying eyes. As he closed the rickety cupboards, he heard the front door open behind him and the familiar thumps of heavy footsteps.
- "Hey!" John was slightly red-faced, exhertion clinging to his brow from the chilly air outside, and his round body was wrapped in a warm coat. Despite the brisk walk from the bus stop, he bore a wide grin as was typical of the boy. After tossing said coat in the closet, he waddled forward and grabbed Dave in a squishy hug, the taller boy sinking slightly into John's pillowy body. Dave remained stoic, responding with a simple "sup", although John knew him well enough to tell he enjoyed such embraces.
- As he broke away the hug, John turned to sit in the living room, only to stop when he caught sight of Rose. "Good afternoon, John." She gave a small smile at the chubby teen, which was enough to give John the energy to bound over and engulf her in a similar embrace. Dave watched from the kitchen doorway, eyebrows lowered slightly under his glasses, as John very nearly squished the poor girl under his bulk. He sighed to himself, before pulling the cupcakes back out of the cupboard. No sense in hiding them with John around, anyway.
- ---
- As the sun lowered beyond the horizon and darkness swept over the small house, Dave chewed idly on his second cupcake as he sat at the kitchen table. Across from him, Rose nibbled elegantly on her first confectionary, while John messily devoured his eighth.
- "I have to ask", Rose said once she was content John's attention was off the cupcakes for a moment, "does anybody know when Jade is scheduled to arrive?"
- "Hell if I know." Dave licked a speck of ironic pink icing from the corner of his mouth. "I don't even know how she plans to get from a shittly island in the middle of nowhere to the mainland."
- John gave a wide-eyed glance towards his boyfriend, mouth full of cupcake. "I thimph she shaid she was..." He swallowed. "I think she said she was being picked up by one of her grandpa's friends." Sucking bits of icing from his chubby fingers, John reached over and grabbed another cupcake. "She'll find a way though, don't worry!"
- "John, please try not to make yourself sick." Rose gazed at the mostly-empty platter of cupcakes that had been brutally devoured by her friend. Sheepishly, he giggled, slowing down slightly as he bit at the pastry in his hand. "But they're just so good! And I knew I could teach Dave to cook better!"
- Rose smirked. Dave rolled his eyes.
- "I'm gonna run down to the store and pick up some more root beer," Dave said. "For some reason, we're out of the stuff." As he stood to leave, John gave what sounded like a muffled thanks through a packed mouth. "I'll be right back."
- ---
- Rose sat in a chair in the dimly-lit living room, idly working away at a skirt. Dave had taken his shoddy car to the store to ensure that they had enough junk food to last seven teenagers (apparently, John counted as four), and while he would be back before long, she wanted to use the brief moment of silence to brush up on her sewing.
- Suddenly, she paused. Why was it so quiet? Glancing around, she noticed John was absent from the couch; he must have stood and left when she was too caught up in her work. Placing the cloth and needles aside, she stood and glanced into the kitchen. No John, although a lonely cupcake sat on the crumb-covered platter. She was about to chalk it up to a simple bathroom break or him checking his computer when her thoughts were interrupted by a soft yet audible whine from the bedroom.
- Popping her head through the doorway, she found John lying on the single bed, clutching his tummy and shuffling in discomfort. His face still bore the crumbs from his pastry-eating session, although he seemed less focused on his lips and more on his belly.
- "Is something wrong, John?"
- John's eyes shot open as he noticed Rose's prescence in the doorway. Pushing himself back up into a sitting position, his face tinted red as he pulled down his shirt over the expanse of his gut. "Ugh, no, I'm...I'm fine. Don't worry!" He smiled, only to wince when another spike of pain shot through his body.
- Walking into the room and sitting on the side of the bed, Rose gave John a knowing glance. "You had too many cupcakes."
- "N-no, not really, I mean they're good and Dave makes them all the time!"
- "Would you like me to fetch you antacids?"
- John opened his mouth, closed it again, and shuddered. "I don't actually know i-if we have any-mmph!" He bit down on his tongue and clutched his stomach, trying to ignore the sharp pricks of indigestion. Rose easily picked up on this and opted to lean forward, now sitting next to the Heir.
- "Would it help if I comforted you physically?"
- It wasn't the most straightforward way of suggesting it, but John apparently caught on quickly, and only nodded slightly in response. Rose reached forward and gingerly brushed the top of his gut with her hand; she could actually feel the rumbling and churning as his body tried to digest the influx of sugary cupcakes. As he gave a slight sigh, Rose began rubbing in slow, round movements, attempting to soothe John's tummy.
- She leaned onto the headboard, now lying next to John, as she continued to massage the Heir's angry stomach. John was still visibly in discomfort, but her smooth fingers stroking the taut skin were doing well in their fight against the tummyache. She was surprised at how warm his flab was; it was clear he possessed ample insulation against the December chills, and briefly entertained the concept of snuggling against his body. "Dave's cooking may not be as refined as you think, John."
- "Like hell it isn't."
- Rose very nearly flinched, before managing to hold onto her composure and turn to face Dave's stoic expression. She hadn't heard him returning, and judging from John's embarassed squeak, neither had he. Dave simply cocked an eyebrow, and the next thing anybody knew he was on John's other side, arm slung behind the fatter boy's head.
- Rose gave a sharp glance at the coolkid, over John's gut. "It would certainly explain why John is suffering from such indigestion." As she reached her hand back to John's stomach to resume her rubbing, she was met with Dave's own calloused hand, firmly placed atop the bubbling gut.
- "This? This isn't anything serious, Lalonde." Leaning closer to John, Dave gave the belly a firm pat. "So he had a few too many cupcakes. Shit happens."
- Rose's eyes narrowed. "Well then, if you would rather I leave it up to you, I would have no qualms with returning to my sewing." She glanced down at the red-faced John. "Although the choice is ultimately his."
- John had been silent for most of the exchange, quickly realizing how heated the rivalry was threatening to become. He knew that both Rose and Dave meant well, and while her hands were amazingly comfortable, he didn't want to just shoo away his boyfriend like that. Coughing nervously, he paused to find his voice. "I...I don't really mind if you guys stay! I-I mean, you're both doing fine, a-urk," he paused to stifle a bubbling pain from his midsection, "and you don't really have to fight over this...!"
- There was a long pause, the only audible noise being the groans and gurgles from John's belly, as both Rose and Dave stared each other down. Even with the sunglasses, Rose could see straight through to Dave's firey glare, and Dave stood his ground firmly during the silent exchange. Finally, with both sides ready for a fight, they descended upon John at once.
- Rose slid in front of the bloated boy, both hands now on his gut. Slipping under his shirt, she felt the slight shudder of his skin as she began massaging the pained tummy. The noises coming from John were monsterous, deep gurgles and loud groans, and as she sunk both hands into his fat she could feel the entire mass of pastry shifting like a water balloon.
- Behind John, Dave had hitched the boy's shirt up, and was furiously working on the top of John's gut, near his moobs and ribs. His hands were rough from years of swordplay, but he knew John's bloated body like he knew his sunglasses, and he pressed downwards on the curve of the stomach. The firmness below his hands shifted, and he could both feel and hear the muffled belch that forced it's way up the Heir's throat.
- Below, Rose slipped her hands underneath John's stomach, fingers deftly slipping to his fly as she unzipped his pants to remove some of the pressure on his gut. His entire belly seemed to expand outwards once freed from the confining waistband; Rose took this as a sign to continue, and she slid her hands around the sides of John's midsection as she gently squeezed and slightly shook his tummy. The movements were doing a good job at sending bubbles rising throughout John, slowly crawling to where Dave's hands were working furiously.
- Dave responded in kind, fingernails digging into the soft skin of John's gut and forcing the painful gas out of his body and into his throat. As John hiccuped and moaned in pleasure, Dave allowed himself to palm his soft breasts, before returning to his midsection and giving a firm squeeze.
- John was in complete bliss. His stomach had felt like it was tearing itself apart mintues earlier, but with the combined work of both Rose and Dave, relief was spreading through his body. As he let out an invountary burp and shifted his weight backwards, he could feel the movements of his friends slowing down, before being reduced to mere strokes and pats.
- Both Rose and Dave had sidled up against John's body, taking in the warmth of his fat. Rose's head was nestled in the nook of his arm, face resting on his pillowy moob, whereas Dave rested his chest against the rolls of John's back and allowed one hand to idly play with the boy's lovehandles. With John's indigestion fading rapidly, the battle between the two siblings had petered off into a mutual pleasure, at both John's happiness and the comforting softness of his warm body. As John began to slip into sleep, closest friends at his sides and stomach in bliss, he could faintly hear the sound the door opening...
- "Hey guys! I brought the-oh! Oh, jeez, I'm sorry!"
- At once, all three content teens opened their eyes to catch a glimpse of Jade, slipping back out of the bedroom doorway and closing the door behind her. An awkward silence befell the room, before John coughed awkwardly.
- "I...told you she'd make it!"
