  1. In the west coast of Araby, South of even the mountain Eunuch and west of the palace of the wizard caliph, there is a big city by the sea with tall white walls and spires an emerald green. The city of Alzamaraad.
  2. It's sultan, old. It's princes and princesses, plentiful. Its people devoted to the one true god of Araby and the world, a serpent on the sun his symbol.
  3. The wealth from the city comes from being an important rest and re-supply point for the various merchants that do trade with the lands of the east and in keeping the surrounding countryside safe from beastmen, skaven, and the occasional dark elf incursion.
  4. It's armies love fielding the Janissaries, slaves forcefully converted to the one true god during childhood and brainwashed into becoming utterly fanatically loyal, with only Norsemen convertees having a matching fervor in their worship.
  5. Because the old sultan Al-Fatan Aleasel might be interested in making sure his people don't starve and are knowledgeable enough to not get taken advantage of by the sleek merchants he's still an Arabyan at heart and a bulk of their own trade is with Norscans and corsairs for slaves. Slaves are then made into the main workforce and pressed military service while the citizenry muster with bows. This is in part because the area they live in is pretty remote and hostile, but also because the price gem in the sultan's slaves and harem is a lone dark elf corsair woman that survived a failed attack on his city long ago he then dressed as the same sorceress she envied so much (this corsair was just rank and file chaff after all), attracts retribution.
  6. He also decided to turn the underground tunnels "safe" from the hated rat men by storing his pet monsters inside. Stuff like wingless hippogryphs, a Medusa, some harpies, and other nasty things he tasks his sons with keeping a watch on.
  7. Most of his daughters he married off to other sons of nearby cities to keep a non-aggression pact.
  8. He has decreed that should he die, his prized slave is to buried in the same casket as him. No matter how alive she may be.
