Okāsan (Connections 1, Loyalty 6). Oishi's mother, a kindly old Japanese woman. Her goblinization into an ork pushed her and her daughter to flee the Renraku compound in Japan where they had lived to Seattle. While she isn't very well connected, simply doing odd jobs where she can to help put food on the table, she would do anything for her daughter.

Mr. Sakamoto (Connections 3, Loyalty 3). Mr. Sakamoto is an old blacksmith who lives near to where Oishi and her mother currently live. Focuses mainly on forging authentic Japanese weaponry, and respects Oishi's skill with her sword.

Backstory:
Oishi grew up in a life of privilege, to a Renraku executive on the upswing, and with the pure luck to be born with both the bloodline of an old samurai clan and the Adept ability. Had things not gone so wrong, she would likely have been fast-tracked into the Red Samurai after completing her education, and not wanted for anything in her life. Life has a way of fucking up these carefully laid plans, though. Through pure bad luck, her mother goblinized into an ork and started the chain of events that would send them from Hokkaido to Seattle.

Even though the Emperor of Japan's recent proclamation was supposed to tone down the prevalence of meta-hate in Japan, old habits die hard, and to save face Oishi's father attempted to kill his wife, an attempt foiled by his daughter. With both their lives forfeit should they stay, Oishi and her mother traded information for a pair of plane tickets to Seattle to start their new life.
