  49. Biography
  50. Hassan-é Sabbah, born Hassan Jahangir, was a Persian university student from a well-off family prior to his embrace. He was a devout Muslim and studied English and Arabic in the hopes of spreading the teachings of Islam to nearby countries as a missionary, which garnered the attention of his would-be Sire. One day, on his way back from university he was abducted and put to sleep, only to awake in a cavern somewhere unfamiliar to him. He was briefly informed that had been selected to join the order of assassins and that refusal would mean death, and so he agreed to join the order. After an arduous training regimen spanning over a year, Hassan was eventually deemed worthy and was embraced by the current head of the order, Rashīd ad-Dīn Sinān. This was in 1988. Hassan was 27 at the time of his embrace. He would spend the next seven years training under Rashid directly, and the following seven serving the Assamite Antitribu as a whole. Having given up his former life long ago, Hassan, having now been given the name Hassan-é Sabbah, the name of the founder of the order of assassins, was then sent to Montreal to act as Rashid’s eyes, ears, and mouth in the area, and to aid the clan however he can.

  52. Hassan, despite being an assassin with multiple years of training, does not take any joy in ending the lives of others, seeing it merely as a necessity and a means to an end. He does everything in his power to ensure that only the target is killed, and that their death is as quick and painless as possible. For this reason, he dislikes using the power “Dagon’s Call”, and will avoid doing so whenever possible. Hassan is fiercely loyal to his clan, but questions their methods and harbors feelings of guilt for all the lives he’s taken over the years, although he does everything in his power to push those feelings aside for the sake of living up to his Sire’s expectations.
  53.
  54. At one point during training, Rashid failed an assassination attempt and let the target get away. This would have been shameful in the extreme for him, and so Hassan offered to take the blame, well knowing the consequences. He underwent severe physical punishment, but received the respect and favor of his Sire. Unfortunately, due to his reluctance to killing, his Sire was forced to put a curse on Hassan in order to ensure that he would never willingly fail a mission.
  55. “If ever I fail, may my blood turn to dust.”
  56. Such was the chant that Hassan was forced to recite, and though the sorcery of the clan, the recital turned to reality. Whenever Hassan would fail in the eyes of his Sire, his vitae would painfully evaporate, as though burned away.
