  1. >Luna shyly propped open the door to peek inside.
  2. >Four girls, a boy, and a... gross meat thing... were inside.
  3. >"Ah! You must be Luna! My name is Counselor Cadence. Come inside, there's enough room for you here next to Meatwad."
  4. >The counselor was this weird pink-skinned person with the most absurd dyejob Luna had ever seen.
  5. >And everyone else in the room was a freak of some kind.
  6. >"Hi, I'm Meatwad. Pleased to meet you."
  7. >The meat thing extended a strange tentacle of... something at Luna.
  8. >"Oh, don't worry, Meatwad's not a disease carrier. He's a completely certified shapeshifter."
  9. >Luna shook the thing's hand-thingy with her thumb and index finger.
  10. >"Yes, alright! Everyone, this is Luna. She comes from the Loud House, and her family sent her here to deal with her soda-drinking addiction."
  11. >"Hi, Luna." the group said in a bored monotone.
  12. >"Hi, loves."
  13. >"Let's get ourselves acquainted with each other and start with a progress report. Meatwad, let's start with you, since you weren't here last week."
  14. >"Ok, then. Uh, ever since the chalk-eating incident a couple weeks ago, I've been outta town and back in jersey by myself, which is why I wasn't here last week."
  15. >"I went back to New Jersey to see where I used to live with Frylock and Master Shake. I had a hard time, cried a bunch. I was so low back then, so ignorant, so useless.
  16. >"I didn't want to go back to those days in front of my kids and wife, so I'm back here with you guys."
  17. >Meatwad gave a smile.
  18. >"Because I love y'all."
  19. >"Thank you so much, Meatwad. I believe it's Luna's turn next. Luna! Tell us why you're here and what you've done."
  20. >Luna had no idea what to think.
  21. >Everyone's eyes were on her, expectant for the failure her life had become.
  22. >"I just like soda, y'know. I just, like, couldn't do alcohol, couldn't get cigs, so I just started drinking tons of soda. I got real sick one day, doc said I was pre-diabetic, mom sent me here. I dunno."
  23. >Luna crossed her arms.
  24. >"Thank you. You've been very open so far. That's the first step on your road to healing, and you've taken it in stride. Star, would you be willing to share with us your progress?"
  25. >And much of the session went on like that.
  26. >Tears, hugs, games, strategies.
  27. >It felt surreal to Luna, seeing one of the toughest-looking guys she had ever seen break down into tears constantly, and to see a weirdo meat thingy be so open and accepting of her.
  28. >But here, no one judged, no one hates, no one felt fake or angry.
  29. >It was calming, to say the least.
  30. >After only three hours, the CAA meeting was over for the day.
  31. >"Hi there, Luna."
  32. >It was the meat thi- no, Meatwad.
  33. >"I'm glad you showed up today, and I'm happy you didn't hate me like everyone else. So here."
  34. >Meatwad extended a business card to Luna.
  35. >"If your house ever needs some insulation, heating work, air conditioning repairs, or stuff like that, I'm your guy, and I'll do it for a discount."
  36. >"Thanks a lot, love."
  37. >"Hey now, don't call me that. I'm married and I'm all hers."
  38. >Luna rolled her eyes.
  39. honk honk!
  40. >Luna's mom pulled in front of the community center.
  41. >"Well, I gotta go now. Seeya, Meatwad."
  42. >"Seeya! Wouldn't wanna be ya!"
  43. >The drive home was mostly quiet, with Rita looking back at her child.
  44. >She was asleep, but she had a smile on her face.
