  9. Chapter 2.
  10.
  11. Over the years since they had graduated Luna Nova and gone out to pursue their own lives, Akko, Sucy, and Diana had all become more hardworking in their own ways.
  12.
  13. Akko was almost always busy with her performances and demonstrations traveling the world, Sucy had a lot more responsibilities with her freedom making potions, and Diana have more work than ever running her medical facility and caring for all the staff and patients who walked through its doors.
  14.
  15. All three witches put in good, honest work every day, and earn their days off more than anyone. Though of course there are often weekends when one or two or even all three of them will unavoidably have to get something done or respond to an emergency. And even if there wasn't anything going on to make them get out of bed, Akko and Sucy would often face a bit of a struggle with Diana in that regard anyway.
  16.
  17. Today is one of those mornings. It's very early on a Saturday, so early the sun has barely peeked up over the horizon yet.
  18.
  19. As is typically the case due to her line of work and her personality type in general, Diana is the first of the three to wake in their shared bed, and she doesn't miss the slight chill in the air. Judging by the lighting in the room alone, she can ascertain there might be a bit of flurry going on outside.
  20.
  21. To her left side is Akko, who is splayed out halfway under the blankets and halfway out in a haphazard position, draped partially over Diana with her head on her shoulder and one arm around her stomach. No matter how many times Diana wakes up to the sight of her like this, it never ceases to amuse her.
  22.
  23. "Some things never change." Carefully, she frees her arm from Akko's limp grasp and does her best to adjust the blankets over her sleeping girlfriend more properly.
  24.
  25. On Diana's other side, Sucy is curled up facing her as well. Initially, in the first few months since they had all gotten their own place together, she had slept on her back with her arms crossed in the traditional style of a mummy. But over time, Sucy had eventually opened up to a more relaxed sleeping style, and she would even cuddle up to Diana on rare occasions.
  26.
  27. Diana smiles fondly down at her now and strokes her other hand through Sucy's hair.
  28.
  29. For a few moments, she simply enjoys the warmth of their company, Akko's little snores and Sucy's mutterings about plants. Diana pats each of their heads softly, savoring the rare moment of quiet.
  30.
  31. It's a bit odd for her though, because even on her days off she still feels like there is so much she needs to get done. Even if she knows it isn't the case, her body and mind simply seek to find out excuses for her to get out of bed and get moving.
  32.
  33. But she knows exactly how her two girlfriends are going to react if they wake up and catch her. She could always transform herself into something small in order to slip away from them and not disturb them, but even that might not work.
  34.
  35. Akko and Sucy were heavy sleepers, all with the exception of Diana trying to get out of bed. The moment she so much as budged, the other two would wake and moan in protest to keep her there. It's very endearing, really.
  36.
  37. So this morning Diana stays with them a few moments longer, enjoying the stillness and the milky colors of morning. Though it is beginning to feel a bit chilly, considering most of the blankets had been torn off of her by Akko in the night.
  38.
  39. As far as Diana can recall, she shouldn't have anything dire to attend to today, even though she feels like she needs to get up. So she tries to keep a level-headed mindset.
  40.
  41. Perhaps I can spend some more time like this today.
  42.
  43. She certainly wouldn't be opposed.
  44.
  45. Keeping an arm around each of her girlfriends, Diana gives them both a light squeeze to her sides before making a move to reach for the blankets to readjust them over herself as well.
  46.
  47. But the moment she moves that much, both Akko and Sucy wake with dissatisfied sounds. They've instinctually come to recognize when Diana is getting up, to the point where they now naturally wake up as well, either to wish her goodbye or to protest and beg her to stay.
  48.
  49. Of course, today it's the latter.
  50.
  51. Before Diana can even explain herself properly, Akko has her by the waist, holding on tightly.
  52.
  53. "Mmn, Dianaaaaa…"
  54.
  55. "Akko." Diana pats her head gently. "Good morning. I was just-"
  56.
  57. "About to leave?" Sucy guesses, lifting her one eyelid open a crack. "It's Saturday, you know."
  58.
  59. Diana turns to her.
  60.
  61. "Yes. I was simply-"
  62.
  63. "Rejected!" Akko whines. "Diana, you don't have anything to do today! For real! You should just stay in bed! Plus, it's too cold!"
  64.
  65. Diana chuckles.
  66.
  67. "Indeed, it is a bit chilly this morning. Which is why I was only getting up in order to-"
  68.
  69. "Go to work?" Sucy groans. "Take a load off, Diana. You work more hours than every one of your staff combined."
  70.
  71. "I wouldn't go that far-"
  72.
  73. "No, Su's right!" Akko throws herself fully onto Diana's lap to prevent her from moving so much as an inch. "You're always working too much, but it's the weekend now! As a healer, you should know how vital it is to your health to take a break!"
  74.
  75. "I am well-aware," Diana says, trying to pacify her disgruntled girlfriends. "Which is why I was only-"
  76.
  77. "Nope!" Akko denies her. "I've decided! Su and I aren't letting you get out of this bed until at least noon! Right, Su?"
  78.
  79. "Sounds good to me."
  80.
  81. "Eh? But I was only-"
  82.
  83. "No buts!" Akko protests, leaning her weight more fully onto Diana's stomach to push her back down onto the bed. The second she lands, Sucy is waiting like a mandrake to wrap her arms around Diana.
  84.
  85. "I've got just the thing," she snickers. "The renown Diana Cavendish would never be able to leave the house if she had a bite on her neck, now would she?"
  86.
  87. "Eh-?!" Diana squeaks. "Sucy, I assure you, you needn't-"
  88.
  89. "Too late." Sucy tucks into Diana's neck and nibbles softly. Diana shrieks, and her entire face instantly turns a dark shade of pink.
  90.
  91. "S-Sucy-"
  92.
  93. "Good idea, Su!" Akko praises her. "We should kiss her till she can't even get up anymore!"
  94.
  95. "Akko-!"
  96.
  97. "Here I go!" Akko dives in to start peppering Diana with kisses wherever she can; her face, her neck, her collar, her shoulders. She's like an excited puppy who won't listen no matter how Diana tries to defend herself.
  98.
  99. "A-Akko, please! S-Sucy-!"
  100.
  101. Diana is overwhelmed with all the best feelings at once; Akko's hyperactive innocent kisses and Sucy's slower, more deliberate ones.
  102.
  103. So much attention so early in the morning has Diana's heart doing backflips. Her voice dies away and she loses all motivation to fight back. She can only lie there beneath her girlfriends as they pamper her, which effectively makes her so weak and fuzzy with delight that she loses all motivation to even think about moving.
  104.
  105. In addition to all of this, somewhere along the lines, Akko starts tickling her. And the moment Diana lets out a girlish yelp, Sucy snickers and joins in as well.
  106.
  107. From there, Diana is utterly helpless.
  108.
  109. Her girlfriends softly attack her for several minutes. Whenever Diana slips up and lets out a shrill shriek, it makes Akko and Sucy laugh harder as well. Diana tries to wriggle free but it's just no use. She laughs her heart out in between failed attempts to explain herself, but all of her words fade into strings of giggles.
  110.
  111. Only when Akko and Sucy can physically feel that Diana has been rendered unable to move do they finally let up a bit.
  112.
  113. "Sooo~?" Akko grins down at her. "Still thinking about going to work now, Diana?"
  114.
  115. "She can't," Sucy snickers. "Not with her neck looking like that."
  116.
  117. Diana blushes, panting hard to catch her breath. Akko snuggles up to her and kisses her a little more softly to help her calm down. Sucy joins her in kissing Diana down off the tickle high.
  118.
  119. At last, Diana regains enough of her strength to reach up and cover the spot Sucy had attended to, her whole face still pink and heated with a blush.
  120.
  121. "Honestly… do you two ever listen?"
  122.
  123. "We listen plenty. Right, Akko?"
  124.
  125. "Huh?"
  126.
  127. "My point exactly," Diana huffs. "If you'd been listening, you would have known it was not my intention to get out of bed and go to work, but simply to retrieved the blankets due to the cold."
  128.
  129. Akko and Sucy both lose their smug grins as the understanding hits them.
  130.
  131. "Oh..."
  132.
  133. "Guess that makes sense."
  134.
  135. Diana gives them a compelling look.
  136.
  137. "I'm aware."
  138.
  139. "Whoops~" Akko chuckles sheepishly. "Well, at least now we know for sure you won't be going to work today anyway!"
  140.
  141. "It was never my intention."
  142.
  143. "Right! But now it's for sure!"
  144.
  145. "Honestly, Akko…"
  146.
  147. Diana sighs as the other two laugh.
  148.
  149. "Sorry about that." Sucy leans down and covers the mark on Diana's neck with a kiss. Diana kisses her temple in return.
  150.
  151. "It's quite all right. I didn't particularly mind."
  152.
  153. "Oh~?" Sucy gets a suggestive spark in her eye.
  154.
  155. Diana blushes and looks away.
  156.
  157. "Perhaps a bit later, we could engage in other actives…"
  158.
  159. "Don't mind if I do."
  160.
  161. "Hey," Akko butts in. "Don't forget me!"
  162.
  163. "Sometimes I'd prefer to."
  164.
  165. "Come now, Sucy."
  166.
  167. The three witches share a laugh before ultimately settling back down. Akko throws all the blankets back into place over each of them, laying one out over Diana and Sucy and bundling herself up in another. She then flops down on top of Diana, who catches her a bit breathlessly. Akko kisses her nose, and Diana returns a peck to her cheek.
  168.
  169. Sucy soon pushes Akko aside a little to move in closer to Diana as well. Diana puts an arm around each of them and hugs them by the shoulders. Akko and Sucy each dive into either side of her neck and hug her stomach. Diana's heart flutters with joy, for as much as she loves her work, she loves these two even more.
  170.
  171. After a few more moments, Diana realizes Akko has fallen back asleep and started snoring again. She smiles, running a hand down through her girlfriend's hair.
  172.
  173. "I suppose it will just have to be one of those days, then. Not that I mind."
  174.
  175. From her other side, Sucy lifts her head and leaves a kiss on her lips.
  176.
  177. "Well?" she asks. "Still chilly?"
  178.
  179. Diana shakes her head.
  180.
  181. "Not at all, thanks to you two."
  182.
  183. "Good." Sucy lies back down and tucks into her side, and Diana welcomes her.
  184.
  185. Eventually they drift off as well, perfectly content to spend the rest of their morning cuddled up as such.
  186.
  187. And in spite of the chill of the breeze, not one of them shivers even once anymore.
  188.
  189. ---------
  190.
  191. A/N: Every time the request involves spoiling Diana, I just love it even more!
