  8. Opening
  9.
  10. (Location:Macedon Mountain)
  11.
  12.
  13.
  14. Once upon a time, the region of Macedon was a territory under Dolhrian rule.
  15.
  16. A century ago, the dragonkin rulers sent human slaves to these wild forests and mountains
  17.
  18. to excavate resources and to expand their territory.
  19.
  20. Many slaves were forced to work to their limits, barely fed, and then slaughtered.
  21.
  22. A young man stood up against such tragic conditions. Iote was his name.
  23.
  24. He and his companions fled to the forests and fought, astride wyverns, to free their kin.
  25.
  26. After Dolhr's demise, the now free slaves established their own country in these now abundant lands.
  27.
  28. And the hero Iote was chosen as their first king.
  29.
  30. And so was born the Kingdom of Macedon, later feared as the domain of the Dracoknights.
  31.
  32. However, the mighty Macedon
  33.
  34. was stripped of Prince Michalis, said to be the second coming of Iote,
  35.
  36. and is now on the brink of losing Princess Minerva, the so-called "Red Dragoon"...

  48. Kris:
  49. Hah! Hyah!
  50.
  51. Jagen:
  52. I see you train without the need for sleep. Most admirable, Kris.
  53.
  54. Kris:
  55. Ah, Sir Jagen.
  56.
  57. Jagen:
  58. A strong offense and a tough defense are obviously important, but... You cannot afford to neglect your skill. Without the skill to deliver it, it matters not how mighty your attack is if it does not reach the enemy. Speaking of which...

  67. Jagen:
  68. Your skill is most impressive. I have nothing to add. Keep up the good work.
  69.
  70. Kris:
  71. Thank you, Sir Jagen.

  81. Jagen:
  82. Your skill is not bad. But don't fall behind the other knights. The experience you gain from training and combat, will help elevate your skill further. Be ever diligent.
  83.
  84. Kris:
  85. Yes, Sir Jagen.

  95. Jagen:
  96. Your skill is still insufficient... It ought to be better than this. You may or may not have the talent for it, but don't give up. The more experience you gain from training and combat, the more you can refine your skill. Be ever diligent.
  97.
  98. Kris:
  99. I understand, Sir Jagen...

  123. Julian, good news! Catria finally brought the Altean army for us! We're going to join their ranks to help save Princess Minerva. Please take Lena and escape to safety as soon as possible.
  124.
  125. Julian:
  126. No can do, Palla. Lena's disappeared... I'm not leaving by myself.
  127.
  128. Palla:
  129. ...What? Lena as well... Princess Maria is missing too; why is it only clerics...?
  130.
  131. Julian:
  132. Anyway, I'm staying in the village to see if I can't find any information. Sorry, Palla. Give my best to Prince Marth.

  149.
  150.
  151. 1# Woman:
  152. Have you noticed that large drawbridge behind this village? Normally it's separated by the river, but if you use this key here, you can cross the bridge. Just, once you cross the drawbridge, the enemies on the other side will come and attack you at once. If you want to advance safely, you might be better off taking the long detour that goes right around the mountain. Here, take the key. No matter which path you take, do take care of yourself, m'kay?
  153.
  154.
  155.
  156. 2# Old Man:
  157. The pegasus knight trio must be lonely without Est. And I was such a fan of their "Triangle Attack!" too... Oh, Est... Come home already, will ya?
  158.
  159.
  160.
  161. 3# Woman:
  162. You know, a little while ago, a paladin came here; said he was on a journey. He was wearing a mask, but I'm sure that underneath, he was a good person. He was kind, yet wrapped in a veil of sorrow. I wonder if I'll ever see him again...
  163.
  164.
  165.
  166. 4# Man:
  167. ...This is just between you and me, but I heard that the armory is in league with the rebels. If you're going to enter you should be careful not to get jumped...
  168.
  169.
  170.
  171. 5# Woman:
  172. I wonder what's going to happen to Macedon? They say that Prince Michalis is dead, and Princess Maria is nowhere to be found... On top of that, they say that Princess Minerva has been captured and that her life is in peril... I just hope that this country doesn't end up like Grust...

  183.
  184.
  185. Michalis:
  186. Rucke, I'm impressed a spineless coward like you could throw this country into so much chaos. I'll hazard a guess that Hardin talked you into this?
  187.
  188. Rucke:
  189. Wha-! ...Y-you're...! B-but how...
  190.
  191. Michalis:
  192. Thought I was dead? Haha... My death was but a trifle. Hand Minerva over to me, Rucke. I no longer have plans for this country. Do with it as you please. However, I won't rest until I've disposed of "him" with my own hands.
  193.
  194. Rucke:
  195. U-uhh... But, Princess Minerva is barely breathing... Nobody could save her now...
  196.
  197. Michalis:
  198. Do you want me to shove this spear down your throat? I said bring her to me.
  199.
  200. Rucke:
  201. Y-yes, of course! S-somebody, bring the princess here!
  202.
  203. Michalis:
  204. It's been a while, Minerva. That ungainly appearance doesn't suit you. Losing Maria; your subordinates abandoning you... Is this the ideal country you dreamed of?
  205.
  206. Minerva:
  207. Mi... Michalis... You...

  221. You're... Bord! You've came to Macedon as well?
  222.
  223. Bord:
  224. Long time no see, Prince! Cord already joined with you's guys, right? We Talysian mercenaries wanted to join you's army, so we came all the way here. Princess Caeda's our lady, and the guy who's gonna be her man is important to us too. Prince Marth, I'll protect you with my life.

  237. Hey Prince, it's been a while, hasn't it? It's me, Julian!
  238.
  239. Marth:
  240. Julian! I'd heard that you'd gone to Macedon with Lena, but to think we'd cross paths here... How is she doing, by the way? Of course, she's with you, right?
  241.
  242. Julian:
  243. Well, er, how should I say this... Lena suddenly up and vanished... I... I don't know what to do...
  244.
  245. Marth:
  246. Wait, Julian, tell me what happened, in detail.
  247.
  248. Julian:
  249. Lena's been missing since last night. The villagers speak of some sort of strange priest prowling around lately. It seems that somehow, Lena was taken by this man.
  250.
  251. Marth:
  252. A priest...? Julian, I've heard from Palla that Princess Maria has gone missing as well. I have a terrible feeling about this... Anyway, staying here won't solve anything. Come with us. I'm worried for Lena too. We'll all help to look for her.
  253.
  254. Julian:
  255. Prince Marth... Thank you. Nothing would please me more.

  289. Julian:
  290. Hey! Cut it out! Why must you always insist on pointing your sword at us? I pity Lena for having to put up with your stupidity.
  291.
  292. Matthis:
  293. Oh, it's you, Julian. Are you still trying to worm your way into Lena's good books? No way. I won't hand my cute lil' sister to a thieving rat like you.
  294.
  295. Julian:
  296. You can relax... Lena and I would never work out. But even if it's just a little, I wanted to help her in any way I could.
  297.
  298. Matthis:
  299. Ooh, you finally realized where you stand. Attaboy, Julian!
  300.
  301. Julian:
  302. Er, that's not the kind of thing I want to be hearing from you... Well, whatever. If you're worried about Lena, then come with me.
  303.
  304. Matthis:
  305. Oh, alright, thanks. You see, they forced me to join the rebel army, but you know I hate fighting. Alright, lil' brother. Let's join forces and look for our cute lil' Lena!

  345. Jagen:
  346. Sire, the rebels have fled the castle, but I regret to inform you that Princess Minerva was nowhere to be found.
  347.
  348. Marth:
  349. What could've happened? She was supposed to be held inside the castle...
  350.
  351.
  352.
  353. (Lang arrives)
  354.
  355.
  356.
  357. Lang:
  358. Oh-hoh, I knew this task was unworthy. Excellent work, Prince Marth. We'll take care of Macedon from here. Now, let us discuss your next mission.
  359.
  360. Marth:
  361. General Lang... What do you want this time?
  362.
  363. Lang:
  364. Well, you see... My castle was attacked and the Grustian prince and princess were kidnapped. The perpetrator fled to Macedon, it seems. Prince, you are to capture him and return the children to me.
  365.
  366. Marth:
  367. You're asking me to send those children to their doom!
  368.
  369. Lang:
  370. You're in no position to defy me. Now, off to work you go, my prince!
  371.
  372. Kris:
  373. You...! You have no right to threat our prince like that! We are not your minions!
  374.
  375. Lang:
  376. What did you say?! Know your place, Altean pawn!! Marth, it seems that your countrymen are devoid of manners!
  377.
  378. Marth:
  379. ...I apologize on his behalf. But it is as Kris says: General Lang, I will no longer follow your orders from here on.
  380.
  381. Kris:
  382. Sire...
  383.
  384. Lang:
  385. What?! Do you mean to defy my orders?! I see... I see. As I suspected, it was YOUR doing! The person who kidnapped Grust's prince and princess was the mercenary, Ogma. On your orders, no less!
  386.
  387. Marth:
  388. I didn't know of this. But if I had the choice, I would have done exactly as you suggested. Back at Grust, even though they were meant to be our enemies, I should have helped those children.
  389.
  390. Lang:
  391. You! You clearly speak words of treason! Perhaps I should report this to the Emperor!
  392.
  393.
  394. Marth:
  395. Do as you will. But you're not the only person who intends to visit the palace. I will speak to Emperor Hardin and Queen Nyna and inform them of your crimes. Forgive me, Jagen. But I cannot stand for this any longer. I've had enough!
  396.
  397. Jagen:
  398. I understand. You have endured well until now. Lang, my liege might forgive your frequent rudeness to him, but I will not! Come, draw your sword! Even though I, Jagen, am old and senile, I will not lose to the likes of you!
  399.
  400. Lang:
  401. Wh... what did you say?! Damn you... I'll remember this! Once the Emperor gets wind of this, I'll crush your puny little Altea!!
  402.
  403.
  404.
  405. (Lang leaves)
  406.
  407.
  408.
  409. Marth:
  410. Jagen... you're a bag of surprises. To think you'd stand up against Lang like that!
  411.
  412. Jagen:
  413. Sire, are you underestimating me in my old age? Bwahaha... I'm not about to let youngsters like you hog all the glory just yet. Still, I'll admit it was somewhat foolish to contest with Lang, even if he did push my lord at every turn.
  414.
  415. Kris:
  416. Prince Marth, Sir Jagen. What is our next plan of action?
  417.
  418.
  419. Marth:
  420. According to Lang, Ogma is on his way to Macedon. He probably intends to visit the village where Lord Wendell resides.
  421.
  422. Kris:
  423. Lord Wendell?
  424.
  425. Marth:
  426. Lord Wendell is a pontifex of Khadein; he fought as our ally in the last war. I heard he's living in Macedon now. Near Holm Beach. It also happens that the children that Ogma saved were raised by him. So I'm sure now would be the perfect time to pay him a visit.
  427.
  428. Kris:
  429. I understand, sire
  430.
  431. Jagen:
  432. That said, I worry about Lang... I pray that nothing bad shall happen...
  433.
  434.
  435.
  436.
  437.
  438.
  439.
  440.
  441. (If you unlocked the sidequest)
  442.
  443.
  444. Jagen:
  445. Kris, are you aware that we've been searching for the assassins who besieged Altea a year ago...?
  446.
  447. Kris:
  448. Ah! I assume, since you're mentioning it, that you've found a new lead?
  449.
  450. Jagen:
  451. We're not certain, but we've received information that might lead us to them. A few days ago, I heard of a suspicious group heading towards Macedon's northern mountains. Not far from our location.
  452.
  453. Marth:
  454. The northern mountains? What could they be after up there?
  455.
  456. Jagen:
  457. Rumors say they are targeting our former allies in the War of Shadows. And I don't believe they're after a friendly chat with them either.
  458.
  459. Marth:
  460. I see... Then we cannot ignore this lead, especially if lives are at stake.
  461.
  462. Marth:
  463. Jagen, Kris, we shall pursue the enemy.
  464.
  465. Jagen:
  466. Agreed. Let us prepare to march, with haste.
  467.
  468.
  469.
  470.
  471.
  472.
  473.
