  1.
  2. Eagleheart asks, "Very well. I believe a lesson is in order, then. I guess there's no harm in this... After all, you have learned of the Arcane to a certain point, or have you never heard of it?"
  3.
  4. Eagleheart says, "Chaos, Order. Two different parts of reality. Not two different parts of a whole-- They do not complete each other out, as some would preach erroneously."
  5.
  6. Dervla Diabolyn says, "..huh. It makes sense."
  7.
  8. Dervla Diabolyn says, "I think I was told of something of the sort when I was younger."
  9.
  10. Dervla Diabolyn says, "Though, they were named Preservation and Ruin."
  11.
  12. Eagleheart says, "Oh? Interesting."
  13.
  14. Eagleheart says, "I try to amass the knowledge of these. Please... Indulge me in a bit more detail, if you may."
  15.
  16. The witch-hatted Sarradian paused, trinkets bouncing around on strings hanging off her hat as she tilted her head just a little bit. Via considered for a moment how to phrase it, holding up wing finger to signal she was thinking, before it was lowered again and she spoke.
  17.
  18. "Preservation! A force that actively possesses beings, and seeks to preserve what is already there. It cannot create or destroy; only does Preservation and Ruin working in Harmony achieve such power."
  19.
  20. "Ruin! The force that actively decays what it can touch, using vessels if it must. It seeks to deaden the world, and to undo Preservation's work. They're like fighting siblings, tugging and tugging on different ends of the same rope, trying to conquer the other."
  21.
  22. The woman nodded once, assuredly.
  23.
  24. "At least, that's what I was told."
  25. (Dervla Diabolyn)
  26.
  27. Dervla Diabolyn says, "Preservation without Ruin isn't life. It's stillness. Ruin without Preservation isn't death. It's nothingness."
  28.
  29. Sa was only mildly eavesdropping on the forigners in her land as she looked over to Dervla.
  30.
  31. "Ruin: entropy. Protection: stasis. Hm. People oft accuse order as protecting the status quo, as being only static, but that isn't true. There is a third impulse, a resonance that people might be drawn to.
  32.
  33. The impulse to perfect, to improve."
  34.
  35. A gentle smile was offered to the Oscuri, to the Neries, once more bordering on pitying. It could very well have been recieved as patronising, and yet Sa Awaret was entirely earnest in her sympathy for the pair.
  36.
  37. "Everyone knows that the world is not perfect -- for a start, it has vampires in it. What we do when presented with that fact is the only thing which matters."
  38. (Sa Awaret)
  39.
  40.
  41. Sa Awaret says, "I can arrange a guard, if you would like."
  42. Sa said to Ophelia.
  43. (Sa Awaret)
  44.
  45. William continued to stand by. His eyes ever watching.
  46. (William)
  47.
  48. Eagleheart was as still as ever. He had just asked her to elaborate on the concepts of... Preservation and Ruin, whatever these were. After all, he was interested on these kind of things -- The whole of culture was always interesting to him, to say the least.
  49.
  50. "Ah. Then there it is, the difference. Why the balance between Order and Chaos isn't needed, I say -- Because Order is akin to that. It preserves, as the name says. And Chaos actively decays what it lays hands upon, just like Ruin."
  51.
  52. "Yet, Order is born out of creation. Upon the beginning of the world, we were nothing but Order, and it was within the plans of Kraus to make the world free from the taint of Chaos. Because it was that very taint which drove our Creator of All to seal off Eternia."
  53.
  54. "Because God, his own creator, wanted to test Balance. And that played out very poorly for them." He stayed still for a second, almost thinking. It was awful how he didn't rise a single finger or do many gestures, as his whole position was about that.
  55.
  56. Stillness. Rigidity. "As Sa spoke. There is an impulse to perfect and to improve, and through the influence of Chaos, that impulse often misguides people. After all... Demons and Vampires are naught but agents of that."
  57.
  58. "They seek nothing short of destroying every remain of Order upon the world. Chaos does not need Order to exist. If all Chaos magi are slain, if the world is in perfect harmony... Soon enough, someone will make a mistake. We are only humane, in foundation."
  59.
  60. "And thus, it will be reborn. Order, however... It might not do the same. Not without outside help."
  61. (Eagleheart)
  62.
  63. Via nodded once at the multiple explanations, turning to nod her head respectfully towards Sa. Then she'd turn back to Eagleheart, listening to the full explanation. "Well, I suppose! I was a child when I heard of it, after all. Though.. you have a strong take on it, I think!"
  64. (Dervla Diabolyn)
  65.
  66. The man seemed to keep to himself mostly, but a small shift of his face was enough to notice that his vision ran over the leaving line of people. A soft breeze echoed on them, but no wind was actually conducted, until it finally returned to him.
  67.
  68. The breeze brushed against Leo and Dervla, or at least it seemed like a breeze. Something brushed over their faces and pulled their hair strands towards him, but only for a brief second. During this time, it was likely to hear a soothing chime, almost as if playing inside their minds.
  69.
  70. If paid enough attention, they'd notice one of the hands that was barely hidden underneath the cloak was moving, almost as if conducting that very breeze.
  71.
  72. "I am nothing but an apprentice on Order, but I've got my fair share of study. So far... I've learned a hefty amount of stuff. But still, you grasped the concept, yes?"
  73.
  74. "The Arcane is a primordial force on the universe. And as such, it has neutral parts, which are where most humans fall on, since they are much more prone to giving in to their mistakes... And then, there is Order and Chaos."
  75.
  76. "Order attunes to those closest to what Kraus designed originally for the world. Those that help it maintain its shape, before it is destroyed. We put ourselves up against the threats-- Sometimes, at overwhelming odds."
  77.
  78. "And then... There's Chaos. Tragedy. Demons. You've heard of that, yes? Mass destruction, selfishness. These are typical characteristics of those that attune to Chaos."
  79.
  80. "Do not understand me wrongfully -- It is alright to be selfish, as long as it doesn't exceed your limits. And about destruction... Unfortunately, any power brings forth destruction. Whether your own, or the other's."
  81. (Eagleheart)
  82.
  83. Again, Via listened. Shewas tempted to take a seat somewhere, but given that Eagleheart was standing, it'd be considerably rude. Nodding her head occansionally as she spoke, she withheld words of response until the cloaked figure was done speaking. Once that time had come, however, she'd speak once more, prompting,
  84.
  85. "I think I get it, yeah. How long have you been studying it? It sounds like a lot to dedicate yourself to!"
  86. (Dervla Diabolyn)
  87.
  88. A hard question. He thinks for a second, and the smallest hum can be heard echoing from underneath the porcelain of the mask. Soon enough, however, he speaks again.
  89.
  90. "Since my sixteen years. Which makes it now... Seventeen years of study." He sighs, and shakes his head from side to side. "But many others would be farther beyond where I currently stand on my knowledge, I believe."
  91.
  92. "Yet, I think that even if I was more understanding of the world, I'd still be an apprentice, in the end."
  93. (Eagleheart)
  94.
  95. Announcement:
  96.
  97. From the frigid mountains in the north comes a deathly wave of chaotic power, drawing the eyes of all to see. Vile magics poured into the air, cloying and blackening the clouds so that dark, inky rain would wash upon the land below. Something terrible had just occurred, and could spell nothing but misery for Agartha in the future.
  98.
  99. Eagleheart says, "... Vampires."
  100.
  101. Leo Black says, "The vampires are at it again..."
  102.
  103. Leo Black says, "We keep delaying and they only row and get stronger."
  104.
  105. Eagleheart says, "The only reason it is delayed it's because others are afraid to come out of their houses and fight."
  106.
  107. Eagleheart says, "I said we had to take the fight to them."
  108.
  109. Leo Black exclaims, "Damn right!"
  110.
  111. Leo Black exclaims, "We need to go all out! Can;t half ass this one!"
  112.
  113. Eagleheart says, "... I'll just insist with Shu regarding training troops."
  114.
  115. Leo Black exclaims, "Step up!"
  116.
  117. Eagleheart says, "I believe, then, it is time."
  118.
  119. Eagleheart says, "Are any of you coming towards Huangzhou? If so, it might be wiser to travel with me."
