  36. >Yorino-chan, why do you always wear a scarf?
  37.
  38. >Um... uh... because it's cold...
  39. >Huh? But it's spring. Isn't it warm now?
  40. >It's cold... for me...
  41.
  42. >Heeeh...
  43.
  44. >?
  45.

  55.
  56. p110
  57. >We finally have footage of the battle inside the wall.
  58.
  59. >It doesn't look like they're trying to break through the lower wall...
  60. >They have been appearing outside of areas that can be damaged.
  61. >Looks like they are specifically attacking cadets...
  62.
  63. p111
  64. >The girl who survived that incident...
  65. >might be a "Pureblood..."
  66.
  67. >Eh? No way...
  68. >But if it's true, then they might attack her specifically.
  69. >Youko-chan, you received Aegis energy from her, yes?
  70.
  71. >I can't confirm it yet, but her power feels like something of a different nature compared to other people's.
  72. >I heard she passed the pro exam?
  73.
  74. >Yeah, Aratsugu Yorino-chan. She's just below you in terms of academic success.
  75.
  76. >May I...
  77. >be in charge of mentoring her?
  78.
  79. p112
  80. >Congratulations on passing the exam.
  81. >The four of you will be assigned to the Third Bastioner Company.
  82. >It's going to be a lot tougher starting now, but I hope to see good results from you all.
  83.
  84. p113
  85. >First order of business - each of you will receive your own customized suits and weapons,
  86. >so head to Development Area No. 2. Once you're finished, return to this room.
  87.
  88. >What floor was it again?
  89. >Fourth floor.
  90.
  91. >Hey, you're Aratsugu-san, right? The one who got first on the exam...
  92. >...? Yes.
  93.
  94. >We'll be in the same unit, so I hope we get along!
  95.
  96. >.....
  97.
  98. >Sure...
  99.
  100. p114
  101. PLATE: Development Area No. 2
  102. >If you have any customization requests, please let me know.
  103. >Do you have any skirts?
  104.
  105. >They said it's like underwear, but it feels like the suit is clinging to my thighs and it's making it hard to run.
  106. >Understood. I'll have one prepared.
  107.
  108. p115
  109. >Your weapons were designed based on the properties of your Aegis,
  110. >as well as your previous battle data and your fighting style.
  111. -WHIRRR...
  112. -CLICK
  113.
  114. p116
  115. >Ah, good. Everyone's here.
  116.
  117. >My name is Kaminoi Youko, captain of the Third Bastioner Company.
  118. >Glad to be here.
  119.
  120. >!
  121.
  122. p117
  123. >Sitting next to you is your assigned senior partner during this training period. You will be sharing rooms with them.
  124. >You already know that Bastioners operate in units of two, so you will need to rely on your seniors for many things.
  125.
  126. >Excuse me, but what about my partner...?
  127. >You will be working with me.
  128.
  129. >Let's get along!
  130.
  131. >.....
  132.
  133. p118
  134. >The Bastioners in Japan are divided between the First to the Seventh Companies.
  135. >The enemy can break through the lower wall in seven areas:
  136. >Sapporo, Sendai, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Hiroshima and Fukuoka. We are tasked to protect these areas.
  137.
  138. >Why are they all major cities?
  139. >Good question!
  140.
  141. >The invaders try to attack places that have high population density the vast majority of the time.
  142.
  143. >These areas of the wall also have weak dimensional integrity.
  144.
  145. p119
  146. >As these weak areas of the wall take continuous damage,
  147. >the integrity of the barrier separating the two worlds is constantly under threat.
  148. >If left unchecked, invaders breaking through the lower wall will become a real possibility.
  149. >We believe that's what they're aiming for.
  150.
  151. >We have been assigned to protect Nagoya.
  152. >All the cities I have mentioned are major residential areas, so we must protect them at all costs.
  153.
  154. >I'll leave the finer details for your seniors to brief you on.
  155. >Let us all do our best!
  156.
  157. p120
  158. >Sorry for the wait.
  159. >Let's go, Yorino-chan.
  160.
  161. >Yes.
  162.
  163. >Your luggage has already arrived at HQ yesterday,
  164. >so I'll help you unpack in our room.
  165. >I'll can manage on my own.
  166.
  167. >You're my commanding officer, after all.
  168.
  169. p121
  170. >Is it okay for the captain of the company to be assigned to a new recruit?
  171. >I wanted to be grouped with a capable soldier like yourself for the training period.
  172. >I believe that would minimize the danger in the long run.
  173.
  174. >When you get used to our arrangement, you can also be assigned to another unit.
  175. >And if our compatibility's good, you can also stay with me.
  176.
  177. >The areas you were talking about earlier...
  178. >There's also that place where we had our session back in ninth grade. Why didn't you tell us about it?
  179.
  180. >Training facilities are only meant to test the combat capabilities of potential soldiers,
  181. >so only professional Bastioners are privy to that kind of information.
  182.
  183. >Even if everyone in the company can become professionals,
  184. >it's not like they can continue being Bastioners anyway.
  185.
  186. p122
  187. >This will be your new home from now on.
  188. >Feel free to use it as you like.
  189. -PIPI---
  190. -PIPI---
  191. >What's that sound?
  192. >Oh, my.
  193.
  194. >Looks like we already have a mission...
  195. >Sorry for all the noise.
  196. >A mission...
  197.
  198. >Are you up for it?
  199. >If you're not ready yet, we can...
  200.
  201. >I'll do it.
  202. >Please don't look down on me.
  203.
  204. >I'll eliminate every single Kaijuu with my very own hands.
  205.
  206. p123
  207. >Heeeh... I like that attitude, Yorino-chan.
  208. >Then, let's show them what we're made of.
  209.
  210. >The signals indicate that the upper wall has been breached about five minutes ago.
  211. >We are expecting to deal with a single Colossal type, so only the two of us will intercept it.
  212. >Are we going inside the wall now?
  213. >We can enter the wall from anywhere if we use our weapons.
  214.
  215. p124
  216. >They have a function that can open the gate to the inside of the wall.
  217. >We need two sets of them to do it though.
  218.
  219. >We both need to pour our Aegis energy into them at the same time.
  220. >Understood.
  221.
  222. >Opening the gate! (NOTE: This seems to be some sort of incantation needed to open the gate. I used "Opening the gate" to make it more consistent with the chapter 1 TL, but alternatives to this can be "Kaimon!" or "Gate Open!" or "Opening Gate!")
  223.
  224. p125
  225. >They're faster than expected.
  226.
  227. >Yorino-chan, the Aegis.
  228. >!
  229. >Understood.
  230.
  231. >Oh? You seemed really confident earlier, but are you nervous?
  232. >You've already done this before, right?
  233. >Ah... I was just desperate that time...
  234.
  235. p126
  236. >Nnh...
  237.
  238. p127
  239. >Your face is all red. Are you embarrassed by having your chest touched?
  240. >...! My face is not red!
  241.
  242. >If you're going to fool around, I'll just do this myself.
  243. >Oh, there we go!
  244.
  245. p128
  246. >Want to try going solo?
  247. >I'll back you up if you run into trouble.
  248. >I don't need assistance.
  249. >If you aim for a Kaijuu's eye, you can take it out with one strike.
  250. >I at least know that much.
  251.
  252. >It's going for the lower wall now.
  253.
  254. p131
  255. >Oh, wow! *musical note*
  256.
  257. >!
  258.
  259. p135
  260. >Splendid work.
  261.
  262. p136
  263. >It has finally begun... Haruka...
  264. >Eh...?
  265.
  266. p136
  267. >Congrats on completing your first mission!!
  268. >I'll wash your back *mus note*
  269.
  270. >Kya-!
  271. >Why did you come in here!?
  272.
  273. >Hm... Aren't you being a bit cold to me?
  274. >Don't you like me?
  275.
  276. >I-It's not like that...
  277. >You saved my life...
  278.
  279. >I just... want to get strong as soon as possible...
  280. >I don't want to keep being saved by someone stronger forever...
  281.
  282. >Hmmmm...
  283.
  284. p137
  285. >That's good... You're very strong...
  286. >.....
  287.
  288. >I like you.
  289.
  290. >Do you want to fall into hell with me?
