55. He thought it was over. After fighting his way out of a building filled with gangsters and madmen - a fight that left the bodies of police and gangsters alike piled in the halls - rookie Jakarta cop Rama thought it was done and he could resume a normal life. He couldn't have been more wrong. Formidable though they may have been, Rama's opponents in that fateful building were nothing more than small fish swimming in a pond much larger than he ever dreamed possible. And his triumph over the small fry has attracted the attention of the predators farther up the food chain. His family at risk, Rama has only one choice to protect his infant son and wife: He must go undercover to enter the criminal underworld himself and climb through the hierarchy of competing forces until it leads him to the corrupt politicians and police pulling the strings at the top of the heap. And so Rama begins a new odyssey of violence, a journey that will force him to set aside his own life and history and take on a new identity as the violent offender "Yuda." In prison he must gain the confidence of Uco - the son of a prominent gang kingpin - to join the gang himself, laying his own life on the line in a desperate all-or-nothing gambit to bring the whole rotten enterprise to an end.
 56. Only a short time after the first raid, Rama goes undercover with the thugs of Jakarta and plans to bring down the syndicate and uncover the corruption within his police force.
 57. My review of The Raid 2 - Absolutely superb sequel, doesn't do the Hollywood cliché of repeating the first film and having the same story but in a different setting (hangover 2 had that problem), but guess that comes from this not being a Hollywood film

Great build up and twists very early on with the whole revenge theme running all the way through, excellent action and fight scenes and an awesome storyline to match

This film reminded me a lot of "A Bittersweet Life" in terms of how the story played out, which is an ace thing as that film is also awesome, also changing the settings and having a more fluid story rather than sticking the film in once place like the first one did gave it a whole new background to the story

Loved this film, would highly recommend it to anyone, not just a great action film but one of the best sequels I have ever seen - 10/10
 58. This is the first time I write a review for a movie. Normally I wouldn't bother doing this kind of things, but after going outside in the garden and beating the first tree I saw until my hands were left numb, I chose to express my feelings in writing too (after i took a half an hour rest, that is). First of all, "The raid: redemption" was unbeaten in its time. The action scenes, the stunts, the choreography, everything was almost perfect. It was lacking a real story line.

This time, the viewer had it all. Everyone delivered their lines nicely and every action scene was being built up suspensefully, until the bang of every fight. Even the inner stories were amazingly built, though only briefly: 'Koso, Eka and others were given enough screen time when they mattered to make you care for each of them. What can I say? Bravo!
 59. “The Raid” was a great action film in which the violence, excessive though it was, served as obstacles in the hero’s simple quest. In Raid 2 the violence is the movie, its excess used to cover for an inept story, thinly-drawn characters and dead spots.
 60. No. While the first film has two score versions (the original Indonesian by Aria Prayogi and Fajar Yuskemal and the international release by Mike Shinoda and Joseph Trapanese), The Raid 2 will only have one version by Joseph Trapanese, Aria Prayogi, and Fajar Yuskemal. Mad Dog is dead, but the actor Yayan Ruhian will be back as a new character, an honourable assassin named Prakoso. No, he's not Mad Dog's twin. He's a different character entirely. After The Raid got its "R" rating only after the MPAA got its 2 demanded cuts, it's just a matter of consequence that the sequel had to face a similar fate. Even before it hit US cinemas, Gareth Evans admitted via Twitter that cuts had to be made, although he was very happy with the amount of the alterations that only affected frames. In general, you'd be wise to take such descriptions with a grain of salt when they come from an involved person but Evans' statement turned out to be pretty accurate. a5c7b9f00b
