  1. My name is Anish Somani, and am a freshman, and am of Indian origin. My family comes from Rajasthan, the largest state in India, famous for its deserts. Both my parents grew up in Bhilwara, a large town, but moved to the States, for higher education (PhDs) and I was born here, in Santa Clara. I lived in Milpitas, but moved back to India, after completing second grade in Challenger, and stayed there till 8th grade, and have now come back to the States, for good. ’Rajasthani’ culture is pretty rich in history, from the great Rajput kings, to Maharana Pratap, who fought against the British, for Indian independence, and our art is famous throughout India. My favorite pastime is reading, and I have spent millions of hours doing so. Some of my all time favorite books include The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare, the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan, Harry Potter, and Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer. I love ice cream, and like most fast food, but am not a picky eater. I like watching movies, and the Shawshank Redemption is my favorite one, as well as a lot of book adaptations and blockbusters. I miss almost all of middle school, and most of my friends in particular. School was also much more familiar to me, and I knew what I had to do, and I will have to take 2 more weeks to adapt to this new environment.
