57. In 1939, an intrepid reporter in New York City makes a connection between the story she's covering -- of famous scientists suddenly disappearing around the world, and a recent attack on the city by giant robots. Determined to find the solution to these happenings, she seeks the help of her ex-boyfriend, the captain of a mercenary legion of pilots. The two are investigating the case when the robots attack the city again, though in a stroke of luck, Sky Captain's right-hand man is able to locate their source. They then set off on an adventure in search of the evil mastermind behind these schemes, who is bent on creating a utopia and destroying the current world.
58. The lives of reporter Polly Perkins and her ex-boyfriend, Joe Sullivan, intersect. For the past three years, large robots have been roaming the Earth, taking what they need, and vanishing as quickly as they appeared. Joe and his technical assistant Dex have been investigating and battling these mysterious robots. Meanwhile, many of the world's scientists have been systematically kidnapped. Dr. Jennings, believing that he is the next target, tells what little he knows to Polly. His beliefs are that Dr. Totenkopf, who has not been heard from in over thirty years, is carrying out a project he started prior to World War I, this project which may be associated with these robots. Polly and Joe, with Dex, join forces to find Totenkopf, which may not be easy due to their still antagonistic relationship. As they piece together Totenkopf's plot, Polly and Joe realize that stopping him from carrying out his grand plan of creating his version of a Utopian society may not be as easy as killing him.
59. I think the concept of a cartoon/film is great but I think this movie did not do it that well, not because it isn't well drawn but I hated the look of it, I was almost depressed watching it. It was dark and dull, especially the first half of the movie. I think the actors were terrible and the script was bad. I also think the name of the villain in the movie, "Totenkopf" was lame and that also really got on my nerves. I can't see anything good in this movie really and I have never walked so dissatisfied out of the movie theater in my life, and I go there like twice a week.

I just say, don't see this movie, I don't understand why on earth it gets 6.7 here.
60. This movie pays homage to all of the great 1930s and 40s movie serials, down to the swirling newspapers, art deco rocket ships, and storyline. The visual effects are engrossing on the big screen, and the film moves along at a good, steady pace. I enjoyed the performances, everyone seemed to be enjoying their role and having fun. This wasn't an easy task, as essentially the entire movie's backdrop and special effects were CGI -- but aside from a bit of "shimmer" in much of the scenery and actors, this was skillfully pulled off and I've not enjoyed a film like this in some time. I would welcome a sequel, if the makers are inclined to do so.
61. As an imaginative visual experience, there's nothing like it. Today, at least.
62. The two vials contained the material for Totenkopf's genetically engineered humans, his Adam and Eve. "Sky Captain" is Joe's call-sign, or pilot nickname. The story behind it remains unknown. a5c7b9f00b
