Left in the desert of the Thay lands shortly after being born, a young Genasi was taken in and raised by a caravan of Human nomads. Early on in his youth, he learned of his power to control the earth around him, but lacking control he rarely used it. After proving his mastery of the sword during a routine sparring round, he was quickly assigned a post as guardsman at the young age of 12, giving him the ability to use his earth control more often. In the guard he was taught the value of protecting others, he learnt how to keep key opponents occupied so they wouldn't be harming his allies. Eventually, he discovered that creating a swirl of sand around strong opponents was really easy to do and maintain, the sand would block their vision, and it would blunt their blades before they hit. After continuing to be a valuable asset in defending the caravan against the frequent raider attacks for over three years, he decided to find his ancestors, the Earthsoul Genasi, to further master his control over the earth.

He left for a tribe he had heard of, somewhere deep in the mountains. After several months of travelling and searching, he finally discovered the tribe, and over his two year stay they taught him valuable secrets for mastering his control over earth. By then he decided he longed for the desert, and once again set off to journey back to the desert. After a month of travel, he reached the desert.

He wandered around in the desert for over two years, trying to find his caravan. During his travels he stayed with many caravans, sometimes travelling with them as a guard for hire, sometimes merely trading for food and drink. On his journeys alone he took care to explore every ruin and overhang he could find for traces of his caravan, picking up lots of forgotten scraps of history in the process. After those seemingly endless two years, he finally found his caravan, destroyed, and further ruined by the ravages of time. Scattered around a central area he found the bones of many humans, scoured of all flesh. All the food had decayed, and valuables had long since been looted by raider parties.
At this point, he swore to find out what had caused this to happen, and set out towards far away lands, where he could start his life anew, and where he could perfect the one thing that he had failed in before, protecting his allies.
