- So yesterday I was binging on Binging With Babish (great show, btw, highly recommend it) and didn't get much done, and I almost didn't make a post today, but I caught myself before the day ended (although it may have done so by the time this post is done), so I'll make this a two-in-one.
- In the spirit of my BwB filled Saturday, part one will be about food. The words for various foods and some drinks, how to order them in restaurants, and buying them at the market.
- Transitioning from that, part two will be about shopping and money.
- *Part One*
- To Eat, To Drink, To Breathe In: Mux
- Meal: Mumba
- Food: Mumbaja
- Drink: Mumbajeta
- Spice: Patsa
- Sauce: Àsanima
- Garnish: Psarle
- Meat: Twanga
- Meat of any Herbivore: Twava
- Meat of any Omnivore: Twaha
- Meat of any Carnivore: Twatsa
- (the following are just the words for these kinds of animals, just changed from animate to edible)
- Beast Meat: Catha
- Bird Meat: Pina
- Fish Meat: Jisa
- Reptile Meat: Slasa
- Amphibian Meat (*mostly* limited to frogs): Kroka (fun fact: This was originally supposed to be the word for Beast Meat, but this word made me realize I should have a word for Amphibian Meat, and once that happened I just couldn't let myself not use it for that)
- Bug Meat: Ngawa
- Beef: Brada
- Pork: Puma
- Mutton: Bipa
- Goat Meat: Bila
- Horse: Mreda
- Dragon: Dova
- Vegetable: Kiza
- Fleshy Vegetable: Pöza
- Leafy Vegetable: Napa
- Root Vegetable: Uba
- Fruit: Tapa
- Fruit with edible skin: Dena
- Fruit with inedible skin: Nana
- Berry: Saha
- Edible Mushroom: Papa
- Poisonous Mushroom: Una
- To say that any other food is poisonous, use the infix -ax- (eg, "Saha" berry > "Sahaxa" poisonous berry)
- First Breakfast: Mumba Codryr / La Codryr (Beginning Meal)
- Second Breakfast: Mumba Aplor / La Aplor (Dawn Meal)
- Lunch: Mumba Sazer / La Sazer (Middle Meal)
- Afternoon Snack: Mumba Temar / La Temar (Break Meal)
- Supper/Dinner: Mumba Kozor / La Kozor (Dusk Meal)
- Bedtime Snack: Mumba Pudryr/ La Pudryr (Ending Meal)
- Excuse me. I'd like to order now.
- Ha, da'! Go'its macan.
- I'll have...
- ...dos.
- ...soup
- Luha...
- ...Tomato Soup
- Luha Itomatwa...
- ...Vegetable soup
- Luha Ikiza...
- Luha I'uba...
- ...Chicken Noodle Soup
- Luha Idijakatwak...
- ...Salad
- Slava...
- ...sandwich
- Habuma...
- Now, let's say you want to order something with a proper name, like a Club sandwich, for instance. You use -à- like so:
- ...Club Sandwich
- Habuma-à-Klab...
- I suppose you might also get away with saying Klab-Habuma, but that's not very proper
- ...steak
- ...pasta
