- TBG has connected.
- The Black Glove has connected.
- Gig has connected.
- The Black Glove:
- Yeah. Once you get the hang of things, games tend to progress more smoothly.
- Thrice:
- yay
- The Black Glove:
- We have another one!
- Blank has connected.
- The Black Glove:
- Alright then. We have one more missing.
- Blank:
- Hello
- Thrice:
- Yo
- The Black Glove:
- Now, so we're aware in advance, I'm hosting this from The Lappy, my computer that I make the maps on.
- The Black Glove:
- But I'll be keeping track of RP things like macros and initiative and chat from the Compy.
- Gig:
- That why there are two GMs?
- Thrice:
- Aight, so name-wise, which is which?
- The Black Glove:
- Yes, that is why.
- The Black Glove:
- The one I am speaking to you from now is The Compy.
- Thrice:
- As there's TBG and The Black Glove; just need to know who to whisper to and all. Though I guess with Hamachi around whispering isn't too necessary
- Gig:
- Can just use the GM command
- The Black Glove:
- Yes, that will work as well.
- Thrice:
- Right, right. I'll just have to actually remember which one -works-. Always get /rsec and /gm and all that mixed up
- Blank:
- Ok. SO this is my first time on Map Tools. what do I NEED to know? Rolling? Whispering, etc.
- Gig:
- ./w to whisper
- Thrice:
- For rolling, the easiest way is to put the dice and additives i nbrackets
- Gig:
- « xdx = Invalid expression: xdx. » to roll dice
- Thrice:
- « 1d20+7 = 8 + 7 = 15 » like that, without that space
- Thrice:
- ..right, maptool doesn't DO spaces.
- Gig:
- brackets to roll dice
- Thrice:
- [1d20+7
- Gig:
- using the type of dice and the number - like that, yeah
- Gig:
- ./me to emote
- Gig:
- Other than that, the system itself is pretty click and drag
- * Blank jump
- Blank:
- ok
- Gig:
- there ya go, you got it
- Gig:
- If you've ever been on Roll 20, it's pretty similar.
- Blank:
- So not muhc different thatn Roll20
- Gig:
- You can also change your text color using that box to the right there...
- Thrice:
- Yeah, both virtual tabletops and all that
- Gig:
- And impersonation can be done by right-clicking the token you want to become.
- Blank:
- Neat-o
- Thrice:
- Yeah, that brings up a menu, and you just click "Impersonate" from it
- The Black Glove:
- Okay, slight panic. I'm being called to dinner at the worst possible moment. But for now, take some time to acquaint yourself with maptools. Also, each of you has a special map for you to put tokens in.
- Gig:
- I'll go ahead and change my text color as well so that we don't get mixed up.
- Thrice:
- We using tokens or sprites? I got both, so it doesn't matter much
- Blank:
- how do we gain access to tokens?
- Gig:
- Window>Tokens
- Gig:
- *library
- Gig:
- Window>Library
- Thrice:
- Basically, make a folder, call it Tokens or whatever, put it where you want - I keep mine on the desktop
- Thrice:
- Then click File > Add Resource To Library
- Gig:
- I didn't make a token for Avasia. I was planning on it and I forgot ;-;
- Gig:
- Then again, when I get around to it, I'll have to make like 30.
- Blank:
- I didin't think I'd need one, I'll have to get to work on that... lol DO you all know, by chance, what kind of tokens, TBG porefers? Actual tokens or Sprites?
- The Black Glove:
- I have some default tokens to use. Can someone help mentlegen? He's having issues connecting, and I can't figure it out.
- Thrice:
- Just browse for the folder, add it, and just throw your tokens in there, they'll show up. Note that, if you make a sub-folder in there, Maptool won't recognize it until you restart it or re-import the library
- The Black Glove:
- I'll be using the FRLG style overworld sprites.
- Thrice:
- Damn. Mine's DPPt
- Blank:
- kk
- Gig:
- I'm not sure I'm connected to Mentlegen
- Gig:
- We can also use this time understanding what our characters do, that way we can work out synergy later on.
- Gig:
- If we haven't already, that is.
- Gent has connected.
- Blank:
- I'm a dragoon that TBG and I collaborated on based on the FInal Fantasy Job Class
- Blank:
- I jump and jump and jump
- Gent:
- Okay is this thing on
- Gig:
- No
- Gig:
- It's off
- Gig:
- (no it's on)
- Gent:
- Don't get saucey with me, you ruffian
- Gent:
- saucy too NOW what are we doing
- Thrice:
- I'm playing a Hunter and Weapon Specialist - long-range attacking, and pretty decent with Stealth, Survival, and the likes
- Gig:
- Playing a jack-of-all trades sort, playing a dancer for some combat support and fashionista for pseudo-face abilities. Likely going to pick up Style Expert when it's relevant.
- Gig:
- Right now, we're talking about our characters so we all know who can do what so that we can do synergy stuff later on.
- Gig:
- Seems like Melee, Range, Support, and...
- Gig:
- Gent, I think you made a Healer?
- Gent:
- I'm getting to it
- Blank whispers: Okay, I'm so confused about tokens -_-
- Gig:
- (or maybe that was someone else?)
- Gent:
- I'm a healer dude of sots that's probably a bit of a hybrid because I might dip into a martial artist class at some point)
- Gent:
- But for now Medic/White Mage Medium
- Blank whispers: Gah, nevermindm, I found it
- Thrice:
- We ended up surprisingly balanced
- Blank:
- Can someone toss up the token(s) that they are using so I can see what we're going for here?
- Gig:
- I think that was intentional, from TBG's part
- Gig:
- I don't have a token at the moment. I still have to make mine.
- Smoke:
- Come over to Harley's space, I thnk I'm the only one with a sprite/token at the moment, even if the sprite's the wrong generation
- Blank:
- Should I be creaating a prite for my character like tose from FRLG?
- Smoke:
- ah, the first face-forgetting of the game
- Gig:
- If you want. I'm going to because I want to.
- Gig:
- Also because I'm playing a fashionista and thus will have like 30 outfits
- Smoke:
- OH! Right, do you know how to switch maps? Cause you'd need to to get over here - go to the top right and hit Select Map
- Gent:
- I don't have a token either
- Thrice:
- But, yeah, you want a sprite, and probably a portrait - which is that thing that appears in the chat
- Gent:
- Am I supposed to make one
- Blank:
- Woah, neat. We;; Iwon't be having a portrait tonight, that's for sure. But a sprite may happen
- Thrice:
- I just sort of took one that already existed and heavily edited it, because I'm horrible at actually making them
- Gig:
- I'm probably going to make a few for myself. If you folks like, I can throw some together for you.
- Gig:
- Mostly doing edits, but I'm pretty decent with sprite art.
- Gig:
- Edits just take less time.
- Thrice:
- TBG's got some default stand-in sprites for the moment, I think. If he doesn't, I have some I got from Mike's pack
- Gig:
- He said he did, yeah
- Gent:
- I uh can just make a quick edit of one I think
- Thrice:
- More power to ya
- Gent:
- Not sure which generation of sprite we're doing for most correctness
- Gig:
- Third gen. Specifically, LGFR
- Thrice:
- Hopefully my current one'll work for now, I can make another later
- Gig:
- (Overworld sprites as well, mate)
- Blank:
- how do I drag the map?
- Blank:
- eh. i got it
- Gig:
- Hold right click
- Gig:
- k
- Gig:
- While TBG is eating, I'm going to go pick myself up a snack right quick, too
- Gig:
- bbs
- The Black Glove:
- Okay, I'm back. Sorry, my family picks the most inconvinent times
- The Black Glove:
- In the meantime, I can drop some basic sprites for people to use for the day.
- The Black Glove:
- Oh! Yes! I also need to set up campaign properties. I can't believe I forgot those...
- Thrice:
- Might be a bit important
- The Black Glove:
- Okay. Basic is for trainers, and Pokemon is for... well... Pokemon.
- The Black Glove:
- I'm going to start dropping stuff on Avasia's page. Let me know which token you want to use for your character.
- Gig:
- Back
- The Black Glove:
- That's my entire library. Take your pick
- Gig:
- Since it's just for this session, I'll use Erika. She seems to most stylish of the bunch.
- Blank:
- Acetrainer Female
- Blank:
- THat's whatI'm editing anyhow
- The Black Glove:
- Alrighty
- Gig:
- You know, Blank, you *might* be able to get away with using some Final Fantasy Tactics Lancer(dragoon) assets on your edit
- Gig:
- like dragging in the helm and such
- Gig:
- They're similar sprite work, although different resolutions
- Blank:
- Good idea. I'll look ino that.
- Blank:
- Ryzedra doesn't have all of that fancy stuff yet, just a lance.
- Thrice:
- TBG, might want to make current HP visible on mouseover (to owners only obviously). Maybe Evasions too? Might just be my being used to the BC properties speaking, though
- The Black Glove:
- Yeah. I just haven't set everything up yet. I'm working on it.
- The Black Glove:
- Lazy TBG didn't get all his prep work done because he was playing Persona 3.
- Gig:
- Not sure if you saw; Erika for me. She's the most stylish and the only one really with blonde hair is the Beauty, who is wearing mundane clothing.
- Gig:
- Kinda got flooded with messages after, so wasn't sure if you missed or not
- The Black Glove:
- Yeah. She's yours
- The Black Glove:
- Blank, you should be able to edit Ace Trainer F too
- Gent:
- I'm probs gonna edit red hair nurse very slightly
- The Black Glove:
- She's all yours
- The Black Glove:
- Everyone good? I can delete the other tokens?
- Gig:
- did Thrice get a token?
- Gent:
- Gotta make it MANLY
- The Black Glove:
- Thrice made his own.
- Gig:
- I'm good, then
- Gig:
- by manly, do you mean removing the headband and making its arms go outwards rather than inwards
- Gent:
- Kind og
- Gent:
- kind of
- Thrice:
- Yeah, I got/edited mine pre-game, like a good suck-up
- The Black Glove:
- You can move your trainer from map to map by copy/pasting them into the new map.
- Gig:
- So TBG
- The Black Glove:
- or cut/pasting.
- Gig:
- provided I stat each of them myself, can I use a bunch of tokens based on outfit of the day?
- The Black Glove:
- Yes, you may
- Thrice:
- It doesn't actually tell the GM you placed the token if you paste it rather than placing it from your library, though, just a really minor thing
- Thrice:
- As normally yeah, it annoys the GM with a message every time a player puts a token down
- The Black Glove:
- I'm going to run and use the bathroom. Then we'll go over a few things and start.
- Blank:
- If I make a token and put it in the folder, do I have to restart to use it?
- Thrice:
- Nope, just exit that folder in maptool(that is, click another folder; Default if you've got none besides it), then go back to the one you placed the image it
- Thrice:
- in*
- Thrice:
- Only time you need to restart or re-import your library is if you make a subfolder, because Maptool's stupid
- Gig:
- I forget where my library is located
- Thrice:
- So if you made a folder for your character within the tokens folder, you'd have to reimport for maptool to recognize it
- Thrice:
- Top left, Window option, Library
- Blank:
- any clue as to ho to remove the white background for my sprite?
- Gig:
- no, like where it is on my computer
- Blank:
- i jus tsearched "tokens" in the windows search bar
- Thrice:
- Oh, I usually keep mine on my desktop, but if you didn't, then, yeah - searching for the name is probably the best way to find it
- Blank:
- gah my token is too small
- Gig:
- Found it, thanks
- Thrice:
- Getting rid of the BG might help, they can screw with resolution - editing in Gimp, Photoshop, or Paint.net(not MS Paint, different program) should automatically keep the BG transparent
- Blank:
- Paint.net... hmm
- Blank:
- that takes me to a paint purchasing site. Is paint.net software?
- Thrice:
- It's not an actual website....unless it is now, but when I used it it was just a program
- Thrice:
- Yeah, confusing
- The Black Glove:
- And I'm back
- Gig:
- It's essentially the basic paint program that comes preinstalled on Windows computers
- Thrice:
- Naw - that's MS Paint
- The Black Glove:
- Who's getting rid of the BG now? >_>
- Gig:
- They're pretty samey tho
- Gig:
- Last I checked, anyway
- Gig:
- Oh, I see
- Thrice:
- Sorta, Paint.net is similar to Gimp in that it basically tries to emulate Photoshop to a degree
- Gig:
- I missed like half your message
- The Black Glove:
- I use GIMP. It's pretty much a free photoshop, but no internet required.
- Gig:
- Yeah, Paint.net will get rid of your backgrounds for ya
- The Black Glove:
- I could never figure out Paint.net
- Thrice:
- Yeah, I use Gimp too, though I used Paint.net a while ago
- The Black Glove:
- So! I wanted to talk to you guys about a few things before our campaign gets started to make sure we don't have any misconceptions on how things are gonna go.
- Thrice:
- Sure thing, what you got to say?
- Gent:
- I should use gimp too
- Gent:
- so I can remove backgrounds
- You have disconnected.
- The Black Glove has connected.
- Blank has connected.
- TBG has connected.
- Gig has connected.
- Gig:
- It's all good.
- The Black Glove:
- Nothing like tech issues to start the first day
- Gent has connected.
- Thrice:
- Ah, something always goes wrong
- The Black Glove:
- Okay, good, we're back
- Thrice:
- It's a tradition, really
- The Black Glove:
- So, how far did I get in my explanation before you all got booted?
- Blank:
- i didn't get qany
- Blank:
- any*
- Gig:
- I GM'ed a physical Shadowrun campaign a while back. I forgot to bring all my notes and my mat one time.
- Gig:
- Issues always happen.
- Gig:
- I didn't get any explanation.
- The Black Glove:
- Alright. I'll start from the beginning.
- The Black Glove:
- I am not using Dex and Milestone Exp.
- Gent:
- huh
- Blank:
- hm...
- The Black Glove:
- Every session, the entire group, present or not, will recieve exp based on three things- 1.) A session actually happening. 2) Progress being made. 3.) Good roleplay.
- The Black Glove:
- This can be as low as 1 or as high as 5.
- The Black Glove:
- Any questions so far?
- Gent:
- so no milestones or dex
- Gig:
- I got one small tidbit.
- The Black Glove:
- Correct
- The Black Glove:
- Yes, Gig?
- Gent:
- good those are kind of uh too me imo
- Gent:
- eh even
- Gig:
- I can understand no dex exp - I didn't expect us to be getting dexes in the first place. But I'm curiouss as to why no milestones? They seem like the best leveling alternative.
- Gent:
- wait I like milestones just not dex/cap exp there we go
- Thrice:
- Dex exp is a pain to track for me anyhow, so I'm cool with taht going
- Thrice:
- Not using milestones, I dunno - though there may not be Gyms here, I'd guess, so that's one part
- Gig:
- It doesn't have to be gyms. I'm more just curious - I can deal. Normally GMs love those kind of options.
- The Black Glove:
- Part of it is that in this campaign, where there is no Pokemon League, there's not an easy way to set where a milestone should be.
- You have disconnected.
- Gent has connected.
- The Black Glove has connected.
- TBG has connected.
- Thrice:
- odd
- The Black Glove:
- My hamachi seems to like being a dick
- Blank has connected.
- Gent:
- Okay
- Gig has connected.
- Gig:
- "Part of it is that in this campaign, where there is no Pokemon League, there's not an easy way to set where a milestone should be. You have disconnected." is this last of what I got
- The Black Glove:
- The other part of it is that to me, it feels like giving bonus exp on top of what you already earned by facing the challenges. A boxer doesn't suddenly become a better boxer when he wins a match, for example, but he does gain the experience of that title fight and from every fight leading up to it. The Black Glove: So for those reasons, I will not be using Milestone EXP.
- Gig:
- I can see that. Alright, then.
- Gent:
- Also uh I made a thing
- Gent:
- I just need to get rid of the whole backgroun IT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME
- Blank:
- SOunds good to me
- Thrice:
- Sure, it's fine by me, though at a glance it seems like it might lead to slow leveling up
- The Black Glove:
- Perhaps. But it keeps the party equal.
- Gent:
- Not if we are good
- Thrice:
- That was what I thought was the main part, honestly, party balance
- Gig:
- One level every other session if we're on track and RP good.
- The Black Glove:
- I've had campaigns where players outleveled each other.
- Blank:
- Well I'm having issue with the sizing of my token so I'll just work on itlater
- The Black Glove:
- 5 exp is -rare-. I'm gonna say that now.
- The Black Glove:
- 3 exp is closer to the norm of what I will be handing out.
- Blank:
- bad font color. BAD
- The Black Glove:
- We also seem to have lost mentlegen
- Gent:
- >green
- Gent:
- we lot what
- Gig:
- je
- Gig:
- he's here
- The Black Glove:
- He is?
- Gig:
- Yeah.
- Gig:
- He just said like two things.
- The Black Glove:
- I'm confuzzled by the different names
- Gent:
- Can you see me
- Thrice:
- Yeah, he's like right there
- Gent:
- Am I a ghost
- The Black Glove:
- IGNORE ME
- Gent:
- Mentlegen = gent
- Thrice:
- failed a spot check
- The Black Glove:
- I rolled a one
- The Black Glove:
- Speaking of which.
- Gig:
- red text
- The Black Glove:
- I am going to be testing critical failures.
- Blank:
- testing?
- Thrice:
- Those seem like they'd be weird in the multidice system PTU uses for skills - unless you just mean attack rolls
- The Black Glove:
- They will happen as such: Rolling a 1 on a 1d20, or rolling equal to half or more d6 as 1s.
- The Black Glove:
- As your skill ranks up, it will be harder for you to critically fail a roll because you have more dice.
- The Black Glove:
- But the possibility will always be there- because we're not all perfect.
- The Black Glove:
- Naturally, NPCs will follow this as well.
- The Black Glove:
- If it doesn't work out, we can agree to remove it during the campaign.
- Gig:
- As someone who plays Shadowrun and d&d, both those make sense to me
- The Black Glove:
- Any questions about that?
- Thrice:
- We can give it a shot
- Blank:
- No, sir
- Gig:
- It's actually a lower chance to botch with just 3d6 than with 1d20... No questions!
- The Black Glove:
- Yes, skill rolls are harder to botch. That was intentional.
- Thrice:
- ...how many ones would you need on a 3d6 for it to count as half? 2?
- Gig:
- I like it. I'm okay with that.
- Gig:
- Makes sense RP wise, too
- The Black Glove:
- 2 indeed.
- Gig:
- 1/36 vs 1/20
- The Black Glove:
- Yep
- Gig:
- start getting more dice and it becomes MUCH less common
- The Black Glove:
- Yep
- The Black Glove:
- But possible.
- Gig:
- Oh boy is it possible.
- Thrice:
- Let me test something « 3d6 = 8 »
- Thrice:
- Al lright, so we'll have to roll 1d6+1d6+1d6
- The Black Glove:
- Hrm.
- The Black Glove:
- That's not right.
- The Black Glove:
- Why is it showing up like that?
- Blank:
- « 3d6 = 14 »
- Gig:
- « 1d6+1d6+1d6 = 4 + 1 + 6 = 11 »
- Thrice:
- 12 You CAN do this
- Thrice:
- But it doesn't show the additives
- Blank:
- « 1d61d61d6 = 1 »
- Thrice:
- Gotta put a + in between them
- Gig:
- « 3x1d6 = 3 »
- Blank:
- Yeah I got that, I was just seeing what would happen
- The Black Glove:
- Okay, fixing the dice rolls is officially my homework for the week
- Thrice:
- I think, when you start a server, there's an option for "tooltips", turn that on and it will compress all dice rolls
- The Black Glove:
- That's probably it then.
- The Black Glove:
- I'll fix that for next week.
- Thrice:
- Then we can do « 1d6+1d6+1d6 = 2 + 5 + 2 = 9 » and it will look like this: 9
- Thrice:
- Master of nine I guess
- The Black Glove:
- Yes. That is what I need it to do.
- Gig:
- Our skill rolls are so low right now anyway that it won't be that big of a problem
- The Black Glove:
- Let's see... what else...
- Thrice:
- You DO still have to type out 1d6+1d6 and all, not just 2d6. But, yeah, it'll work. To do that manually, by the way, type this for your rolling: [t:3d6 for example, with the added bracket
- Gig:
- 9
- Thrice:
- Or for correctness, [t:1d6+1d6+1d6
- Blank:
- 7
- The Black Glove:
- I have some macros for you that you can use for HP, Initiative, AP, and Elevation.
- Thrice:
- There you go
- The Black Glove:
- So if anyone wants to use those, it can help things go much faster.
- Gig:
- I'd like the one for HP, at the very least
- The Black Glove:
- Alright.
- The Black Glove:
- I'll email those out after the session.
- Thrice:
- Hold on, I think it might be a preference thing « 1d6+1d6 = 1 + 1 = 2 »
- Thrice:
- Damn, it's not.
- Thrice:
- Unless only the GM can do it, and it has to be before the server's started...Maptool has a lot of little nitpicks like that
- Thrice:
- Also, those ones.
- The Black Glove:
- Ah. One last thing. I'll be making most of my rolls behind the scenes. Features you have cannot affect those die, but can affect any die I roll before you.
- Thrice:
- I don't think I have the Initiative one, or Elevation
- Thrice:
- I do have HP and AP macros, however
- The Black Glove:
- so things like enemy AC checks, you can affect
- Thrice:
- Features that give bonuses to Perception or other passive, potentially secret rolls would be taken into account though, right?
- Thrice:
- Not sure if there IS anything that gives a straight bonus to Perception, granted
- Thrice:
- But I know some GMs roll that secretly
- The Black Glove:
- If any issues or complications arise, let me know so I can resolve the problem ASAP. And tell me directly. I'm terrible at catching subtlety.
- The Black Glove:
- And yes, those things would be taken into account.
- Blank:
- coolio
- The Black Glove:
- So, any questions or comments for me, or are we ready to start?
- Gig:
- I think I'm good for now.
- Blank:
- My only question is when do session expect to last until
- The Black Glove:
- Depends on the players. 4 hours is usually the max limit I will set because after that, people start getting tired and cranky.
- Blank:
- fair enough,
- The Black Glove:
- So from 6-10 at most
- The Black Glove:
- Of which we've already used 2 hours. >_>
- Gig:
- It's always the way with the first session.
- Gent:
- >People get tired and cranky at 4 hours
- Thrice:
- Heh. That's fine by me
- Gent:
- >I played a 6 hour session yesterday
- Gent:
- But yes 4 hours is plenty
- Thrice:
- I'm honestly used to playing 6 hour sessions on average
- Thrice:
- And a couple times had to go 12
- Thrice:
- which was -all one fight- fuck that session seriously
- Gent:
- same
- Thrice:
- At least, one of them was
- Thrice:
- But 4 is fine, mght keep me sane
- Gig:
- 4 is fine. I normally run sessions for 3-5 hours.
- Gig:
- So that's right up my ally. Allie. However you spell that. It's not a common word.
- Thrice:
- Alley
- Thrice:
- ally is the friend one, allie is...a name?
- Gig:
- Thank you.
- Gent:
- Allay
- The Black Glove:
- Any other questions?
- Gig:
- I'm still good.
- Thrice:
- I'm good to go
- Blank:
- all dgood here
- TBG:
- Alright. Then we'll begin.
- TBG:
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3GAbFdLpo8&list L0F43A61C29DBA76D&index=46
- The Black Glove:
- Thank you, lappy.
- Welcome to the world of Arcadia. In this magical world of the seas of the sky, adventurers roam free in search of discovery, challenges, and treasure! Our story follows 4 such adventurers, Avasia, Ameretto, Harley, and Ryzedra, as they arrive on the docks of Windfall City.
- The bustling port city of Windfall is infamous for being the starting place of many famous adventurers, pirates, bounty hunters, you name it. It all begins at the port, where the ships arrive. The sailors hustle about as the latest batch of new arrivals unloads...
- Thrice:
- Is there a specific map we should be on? Or we just wingin' it for now?
- The Black Glove: (( wing it ))
- The Black Glove: (( oh! Right! It's worth mentioning that we'll only be using maps for combat or certain dungeons. Spriting takes a long time, you see. ))
- TBG:

- Ryzedra crawls out of her hiding place and makes her way off of the ship. Leaping onto the pier, she quickly rushes into the city in fear of being caught by the sailors. She avoided their detection on the boat, but now she's out in the open, something that she isn't used to by any means.
- Gig:
- Aw yeah. That's my jam.
- Blank:
- ((Is this acceptable for OOC? the double parenthesis?))
- The Black Glove: (( yes. You can also type /ooc ))
- Smoke: (( You can type /ooc before it - and should, if you're impersonating ))
- Smoke: (( Because otherwise, it will still show your token's image ))
- Blank:
- Ah
- Avasia: (( yep yep ))
- The Black Glove: (( right click on your token and select impersonate to do so ))
- Ace Trainer (F): (( but her name is Ace Trainer (f) ))
- Smoke: (( Double click the token, and then edit the name field ))
- Avasia: (( rename her. You can Edit her. ))
- The Black Glove: (( you can edit her properties ))
- The Black Glove: (( all of them ))
- Blank:
- ((GOt it ^_^))
- Gent: (( I'd have a token if I could work this damn gimp ))
- The Black Glove: (( you can use the nurse joy I provided you with for now. >_> ))
- * Avasia pads through her inventory, making sure she has everything
- The Black Glove:
- A few sailors see the wild child, but pay her no mind. She made it home free, not like doing anything would help.
- * Dr. Amaretto Sharp runs ahead, holding his medicine kit, looking all doctorly and what not.
- * Ryzedra ducks into the nearest alleyway to catch her breath. It's time for her to get some higher ground to better acclimate herself with her new surroundings.
- * Avasia patiently sees her way off the ship
- Smoke:
- Harley stands on the deck of the ship, where he's been for most of the ride - he doesn't like the claustrophobic interior. Looking out over the island, he mutters to himself, "So! This is where all the greats get their start. Naturally, it's where I'll get mine!" The man makes sure his gear is in order, and heads off the ship by way of the plank, wondering if it was customary to jump off like that odd girl.
- the bustling port is filled with people carrying all sorts of goods. You all notice many people gathering around a poster board before heading down various paths.
- * Avasia calmly approaches the board
- Ryzedra:
- Trying to look natural and not out of place, Ryze heads over to the common place of the posterboard
- Dr. Amaretto Sharp: (( Okay I made my actual token now ))
- * Dr. Amaretto Sharp continues running forward, acting as if he's on some emergency. His coat seems to bounce a bit as he runs, and he makes sure all his things are in order, avoiding the crowds, as they may only hinder him.
- * Avasia tries to catch the attention of someone around the board
- As you all approach the board, the crowd parts itself to let you in. You can see that there's a man handing out some sort of paper, and a map of the city is plastered on the wooden frame.
- Avasia:
- "If you'll have pardon of me, why for such a large crowd?"
- Map Guy:
- "Oh, you must be a new traveler!"
- Map Guy:
- "Hi. I'm Mike the Map Guy. My brothers and I run a service of information. These people here are all checking out the map of the city so they know where to go."
- Avasia:
- "I see. Is this such a large place where such a thing garners so much attention?"
- Smoke:
- Smoke takes the path of most resistance, and heads through the crowd, for the board. When he arrives, he furrows his brow at the map, wondering aloud, "Hmm... Should I memorize this now, or are there other maps?"
- Mike:
- "Heck yeah. This is the town of beginnings! A lot of people here come looking to be adventurers or marines or bounty hunters..." he adds in a low voice "...and pirates"
- Mike:
- "I'm handing out more portable maps for those who need 'em."
- Ryzedra:
- "H-hello. What can you tell me about this city? I've never been here before. I'm Ryzedra, by the way." Ryze remembered the common coutesies only after asking her question. Her mother always told her that that was rude.
- Avasia:
- "That is quite generous of you. It oppears that I may need one myself."
- * Amaretto quickly and runs to the big commotion and eyes the map guy. "So, I can acquire one map here, yes?"
- Mike:
- "Ah, yes! Certainly!"
- You all aquire 1x Windfall City Map
- * Avasia puts it in her Key Item pocket
- Amaretto:
- "Splendid!" He quickly eyes the map breifly
- Smoke:
- Smoke turn around to face Mike The Map Guy, "Is it, then! Hm, this girl has the right idea. One for me, as well!"
- Mike:
- "This is a town of beginnings. We're pretty big on trade, but most of our *coughlegalcough* buisness comes from the Adventurer's Guild."
- Ryzedra:
- "Th-thank you, very much." She says with a nervous smile.
- Amaretto:
- "Adventurer's Guild? Is that a big group in this area?"
- Avasia:
- "I've heard tales from traders, but not much else. They're... Travelers for hire?"
- Ryzedra:
- "What kind of adventures does this guild embark upon?"
- Mike:
- "Something like that. Joining the Marines or the Adventurer's Guild is really the only way to get to Dune too, short of stealing or stowing away on a ship. Lots of people join for that reason alone."
- Mike:
- "They cover missions anywhere from driving off pirates to collecting plants. They do a lot of diverse jobs."
- Amaretto:
- "How would one come about joining said guild?"
- * Avasia pauses before checking her Map
- Ryzedra:
- "They get to go there? Really!?" Ryze's personality is brought out of her scaly shell at the menton of making it to Dune. SHe's always wanted to go there after hearing tall tales and legends from her parents.
- Smoke:
- "Oh, Dune! Then this guild, it is the place for me...and many others, it seems. As you said."
- Mike:
- "Hm... I suppose you'd want to go to the Guild HQ. It's located in the Lower Quarter."
- * Avasia locates the area on her map and circles it
- Mike:
- "Going to Dune, huh? You're crazy."
- Ryzedra:
- "Thank you again. I'll be off now." Ryzedra searches her map and heads off in that direction, straight away.
- Mike:
- "But crazy people bring back information we can use to make good maps. So crazy is good."
- Avasia:
- "You have my appreciation. Until we meet ogain!"
- Amaretto:
- "Well, a little curiosity never hurts, now does it? Thanks for the information." He turns tail and heads towards that direction
- Mike:
- "Come back any time! And say hello to my brothers if you meet them!"
- Smoke:
- "Hrm...well, seeking out land is one form of the hunt. Your maps should benefit greatly from me!" With that, Smoke nods, waves farewell, and quickly makes his way to the oft-fabled guild.
- Our heroes unwittingly all head for the same location- the Adventurer's Guild HQ. It's a fairly large building that seems to double as a tavern and inn. There's a rowdy bunch over in the corner who are drinking and having a good time. Behind a counter sits a large and gruff looking man.
- Ryzedra:
- ((HA I FIGURED IT OUT))
- The Black Glove: (( gratz ))
- Ace Trainer (F):
- ((SOrry I got excited))
- * Amaretto walks up to the man. "Hello sir, excuse me, but may I inquire upon entering the adventure's guild?"
- * Avasia begins an approach, but, seeing someone else there, rather waits to overhear the conversation
- Ace Trainer (F):
- Ryzedra heads over to the group who is drinking. THey look like they're having fun and that piques her interest. "hi! I'm Ryzedra. Can I join in!?"
- * Smoke eyes the crowd in the corner, but keeps his ears focused on the big man in charge.
- Fergus:
- "Aye. S'long as ye past a test and sign some paperwork."
- Amaretto:
- "What is the test, praytell? Oh and excuse my manners. I am Dr. Sharp, pleased to meet your acquaintence."
- Jovial Man:
- "Sure, why not! We brought in a big haul, and what's a party without any ladies?"
- Fergus:
- "Fergus. I'm the Guild Master."
- Ryzedra:
- Ryze smiles big as she sits amongst the crowd.
- Amaretto:
- "Please to meet you. Now I will take any test and papers you need me to sign."
- Avasia:
- "I'll you'll give me pardon for intrusion, I'm equally interested in this paperwork..." She steps forward
- Fergus:
- "Hmm... alright. This will simply be a test of your character. So give me the best answer to this riddle."
- Smoke:
- Smoke chips in when he learns the man's identity, "Ah! The master. Initiation and paperwork? Formal, aren't we!"
- * Amaretto looks at the lady that just butted in, but continues to listen to Fergus
- * Avasia directss Amaretto to the physical description section of her character sheet
- Fergus:
- "Right. So there's a starving man with no money, and there's a rich man who is well fed. You have just made a fresh loaf of bread. What will you do with the bread?"
- Ryzedra:
- "So what di you all bring in on your haul?"
- Jovial Man:
- "Say lass, I don' think I've seen you around these parts before. What's your name?"
- Avasia:
- "Why does this man starve to begin with?"
- Fergus:
- "That's not important to answer the riddle. Answer the question."
- Ryzedra:
- "I'm Ryzedra. I'm from Abs- I'm from out of town."
- Amaretto:
- "I would offer a little of my bread to the starving man."
- Jovial Man:
- "Abs? Ya gots abs? Man, this I gotta see."
- * Jovial Man motions to grab for Ryzedra's shirt
- Fergus:
- "Hm. And you?"
- Smoke:
- "Well, that's an easy one. Ask them both to join me in supper! The more, the merrier."
- Avasia:
- "But it is. A persons background can have very much on effect on how other's treat them. Isn't that why we're answering this question?"
- Fergus:
- "No. This is about you. Answer the question."
- Ryzedra:
- In an act of relfex, Ryze hops back and grabs at her lance. Not drawing it, but gripping it behind her back. She gives a stern expression to the Jovial Man.
- Jovial Man:
- "Whoa, baby. Take it easy. Just wanted to see your abs."
- Avasia:
- "...I would impart my food to the starving man."
- Ryzedra:
- "Abs? I'm not familiar with that word. I don't think I have abs."
- Ryzedra:
- Her hand still on her lance
- Jovial Man:
- "What? But ya jus' said ya did. Here. These are abs."
- * Jovial Man pulls up his shirt to reveal a somewhat muscular chest- though it's no 6-pack.
- Fergus:
- "Hmm... each of you had a different answer and they're all good answers."
- Fergus:
- "You, with the pink hair. Why did you say you would only give the starving man part of your bread?"
- Ryzedra:
- Ryze cocks her head as the man lifts his shirt. She looks down at her abdomen and lifts her shirt enough to expose her skin to her ribs. She is quite defined, but no muisclewoman.
- cheers and whistles sound from the rowdy tables
- Fergus:
- "Oi! You lot! Settle down or there'll be no room for you tonight!"
- Jovial Man:
- "Ah man, Fergus, yer no fun."
- Ryzedra:
- She doesn';t know why, but her face turns cheri berry red as the blood fills her cheeks. SHe quickly drops her shirt.
- * Amaretto look at the commotion behind him, shakes his head a bit, but looks about Avasia and Smoke. "Well don't you two seem similarly eager?"
- TBG:
- Smoke:
- "Par for the course! If I weren't this way, I wouldn't have come here. But, I am, and I did! Working out quite well, even if it is a little warm..."
- Ryzedra:
- Ryzedecides that this isn't where she should be and approaches the man at the bar. "Hello. I'm looking to jointhe guild I heaer that there are excursions to DUne."
- Avasia:
- "I've spent much of my life at home. A chance to explore souds like a grand one indeed."
- Fergus:
- "Hrm. Not often we hear such things so bluntly. Very well then. I'll give you the same riddle I gave these two."
- Ryzedra:
- "A riddle? Oka, Iguess."
- Fergus:
- "There's a starving man with no money, and there's a rich man who is well fed. You have just made a fresh loaf of bread. What will you do with the bread?"
- Ryzedra:
- Ryze's eyebrow raises at thequestion and quickly she says, "I'd eat it."
- * Fergus raises an eyebrow.
- Fergus:
- "Oh? And why is that?"
- Ryzedra:
- "The bread is mine. Why else?"
- * Fergus crosses his arms, surveying his potential guild members
- Fergus:
- "We ask this question because it reveals a lot about the person. Some have said they would feed it to the poor man, some have said they would sell it to the rich man."
- Fergus:
- "The important thing about this question is that you understand this- nobody thinks the same way or has the same goals as another. As a member of a guild, you will have to cooperate with many people who think differently than you, and tolerate them to reach your goals. Are you prepared to accept each other's answers?"
- * Avasia nods
- Ryzedra:
- "I on't know wha3t the other answers are, but sure."
- Smoke:
- Smoke glances around at the others, then nods, "Hm. I don't see why not. To each his own, long as I can do as I will."
- * Amaretto looks and thniks and nods. "As long as we're helping one another. And I'm a doctor, I can't turn down a patient, regardless of my own feelings."
- Fergus:
- "Very well then."
- Fergus:
- "You all pass. Fill out this paperwork, and you'll be accepted as full-fledged members of our guild."
- * Fergus sets some forms on the counter with pens- enough for each of you.
- Amaretto:
- "Splendid!" He claps his hands together and starts writing.
- * Avasia fills out the paperwork, with slight hesitance about signing her name
- * Ryzedra signs he paperwork after reading it thoroughly
- The forms are fairly simple. A name, birthplace, age, and a list of the guild rules. A place to sign your name is at the bottom.
- Smoke:
- "I am hopeful that this may be the last paperwork for a good, long while." Even so, Smoke jots down his information, and makes sure to try and remember some of the guild rules. They might come in handy, once or twice.
- Avasia:
- "This paperwork... It's private?"
- Ryzedra:
- Ryze leaves out Abseil from the form and replacesa it with this city's name
- * Amaretto of course replaces his city name with Windfall's
- Fergus:
- "Of course. Unless we recieve a warrant from the Marines. So don't get in trouble with the law and you won't have to worry.
- Guild Rule #1 Follow All Guild Rules. Failure to do so will result in explusion from the guild.
- Avasia:
- "I have thoughts that such on event will not come to pass."
- * Avasia finishes the paperwork
- Smoke:
- For the record, he puts down Smoke as his first name - it's more befitting an "adventurer," he thinks.
- Guild Rule #2 Everyone supports each other for the sake of the guild.
- Guild Rule #3 Strive to do the right thing, and punish those who don't.
- Guild Rule #4 Everyone's opinion will be valued as long as it does not go against these laws.
- With a signature, Fergus retrieves the paperwork and puts it behind his counter. He then turns to the rowdy bunch in the corner.
- Fergus:
- "Hey Juan! Take the new kids on your next mission, yeah? And mind the counter. I'm going to grab some spare Pokemon."
- Juan:
- "Man, what a killjoy."
- * Juan saunters up behind the counter as Fergus heads out.
- Ryzedra:
- ((Is that the 'Jovial' man?
- Ryzedra:
- ))
- Juan:
- "Pleased to meet you. I'm Juan Hernandez the Third. Mighty Pira- er, Adventurer (TM)"
- Juan: (( it is. ))
- Smoke: (( TM101 ))
- Avasia: (( Juan. Jovial. They're both words. ))
- Juan:
- "My, aren't we lucky, having a couple of lovely ladies on board... and a man, I guess."
- Smoke:
- "Good to see your eyes aren't that bad, ah, Juan, was it? Before I forget, your next mission! What would that be? Bounty hunting? Treasure diving? Crime fighting?"
- Juan:
- "Flower picking."
- * Amaretto blinks at Juan a bit. "Flower... Picking?"
- Avasia:
- "I could have stayed at Avell for that."
- Smoke:
- "...are these flowers at least rending the land asunder with their toxic pollen?"
- Juan:
- "Yeahhh.... some old guy wants some pretty specific flowers. Turns out they can only be found on Dune, so we gotta head down. Otherwise this'd go to a marketplace."
- Ryzedra:
- "Where are these flowers?"
- Amaretto:
- "Ah so a trip to Dune to... Pick flowers?"
- Juan:
- "I dunno. Maybe they have medicinal properties? All the old man said in his request was that he wanted them."
- Juan:
- "And as long as he pays, that's good enough for me."
- Amaretto:
- "Hmm... Medicinal herbs? Intriguing. Might need to take some samples..."
- Ryzedra:
- "hat's the pay?
- Avasia:
- "Of what nature do these flowers oppear?
- Juan:
- "Something like 4000. Split between those who do the work, of course."
- Smoke:
- "I was hoping for something a little more...exhilarating. But it is only the first outgoing!"
- Juan:
- "From what I understand, the flowers can only be found on a small cliff overlooking the ocean. We'll be landing at the nearby port."
- Amaretto:
- "Excellent. Are their any dangers we should be concerned about?"
- Smoke:
- "Gah! The place isn't even unsettled? I was hoping to put my bow arm to use down there. Mm.. I hope they're a worthy sight, these flowers on the edge."
- Amaretto:
- "I'm sure there will be other missions."
- Juan:
- "Eh, there are still some wilds in the area. The town is safe, but I guess there's a chance the monsters might attack while the picking is happening.
- * Fergus returns, holding 4 red spheres in his hand made from red lachryima
- Fergus:
- "Alright Juan. Enjoy your party now so you can head out tomorrow."
- Juan:
- "We leave at 8 tomorrow morning! Be there or be absent!"
- * Juan heads back to the party.
- Avasia:
- "Be... Where?"
- Smoke:
- "Be there or be absent, he says...Not a man of intricate choices."
- Avasia: (( I don't think he pointed out where his ship is ))
- Fergus:
- "The docks. His ship, the Fiertia, is parked down there."
- * Avasia writes the name on her hand
- Fergus:
- "I'll be sure he doesn't leave without you, but you'd best be on time anyways."
- * Amaretto makes a mental note of it and nods.
- Ryzedra:
- "Understood"
- Fergus:
- "For now, each of you should choose one of these."
- * Fergus opens the 4 balls, revealing 4 very interesting creatures.
- * Amaretto eyes the creatures
- * Avasia is slightly taken aback from how different they look from Mareep
- Ryzedra:
- Ryzedra is surpirised to see these creatures. there weren't many on Abseil. Just ones that aided in mining.
- Fergus:
- "Helioptile, Zigzagoon, Pansage, Meditite."
- Smoke:
- "Punctuality is held in high regard, I take it...now, what are these? No...Pokemon! Gifts?" The man grabs his forehead and reels, "I expected I'd need to catch them myself! All that training I did, throwing those stones! Gah!"
- Ryzedra:
- "I'll take the furry one,m if that's alright. Zigzagoon I think you called it?"
- Fergus:
- "These are just to start you off. Marine has some standard issue ones, but all we have are whatever's lying around."
- Amaretto:
- "Hmm... I think... I'd like the Meditite one? Seems like it might be handy."
- Ryzedra:
- "It seems like the bet jumper of the four. C'mere little one."
- * Zigzagoon walks over to Ryzedra and tilts its head to one side, as if studying its new companion.
- TBG: (( you who have chosen your mons so far have ownership now. I'll be sending data shortly. ))
- Ryzedra:
- "Hello there/ I'm Ryze. WHat's your name?" She reaches out to pet the creature.
- * Amaretto points at it. "I think It could use you as an assistant. Mind tagging along?" He walks over to the Meditite and pats it on the head
- Smoke:
- "Urgh...I plan to gain my own. Which of these I take doesn't matter too terribly much." He turns to Avasia, "Do you have one in mind? Or do you want to flip a coin?"
- Avasia:
- "...I seem fond of one of them."
- Smoke:
- "Good. I don
- Smoke:
- t have a coin."
- * Avasia kneels before the Helioptile
- Amaretto:
- "Actually, you have a good point. I might just capture my own."
- Amaretto:
- "But it may come in handy for now"
- Avasia:
- "You possess a great deal of potential. I can see it."
- TBG: (( ownership granted ))
- Smoke:
- Smoke trots up to the straggler Pansage, "Then, I guess you are mine! Don't feel bad about being picked last. Underdogs always come out on top!"
- TBG whispers: Species: Pansage Type: Grass Gender: Male Size: Small Lv. 5 Nature: Adamant Abilities: Gluttony Movelist: Scratch, Leer
- TBG: (( everyone get the data? ))
- Gig:
- Yep
- Smoke: (( mhm ))
