* **Alert:** Alex is very sensitive to sudden noises and movements due to his past. He's always listening and watching for anything that might be a threat, and a sudden noise of sufficient volume may cause a panic attack.
* **Bookworm:** Alex likes quiet places and tight spaces, so one of his favourite places to be is tucked between the library shelves. He'll spend all the time he can hiding in there doing homework or just reading, and loves to curl up with any piece of print he can get his hands on, to the detriment of his social development.
* **Hide and Seek:** Alex is used to hiding away from the world, and can fold himself into unlikely places in pursuit of safety and solitude.
*  **Flexible:** Alex is naturally dextrous and nimble, giving him quick reflexes and a light step.

* **Telepathy:** Alex is able to read minds, hearing the thoughts of those around him as voices in his head. With practice, he can communicate back, or even compel targets to take action.

* **Telekinesis:** Alex can move, lift and throw objects and people with his mind. As he gains strength and skill, he can create force fields to shield himself and others, or block passages.

* **Clear Sight:** Alex can read the psychic energy surrounding a person, telling friends from foes, analyzing shifts in their auras, even manipulating emotions.

+++ **Flaw:**
Selective Mutism: Due to his shyness and fear of socializing, Alex is unable to speak when in the company of two or more unfamiliar people. He can use simple signs and signals to make himself understood, using basic words from Russian Sign Language. People he's familiar with and trusts won't count towards the total, subject to GM discretion.

+++ **Companions**

Although technically a class pet, everyone considers her to belong to Alex, since he named her, feeds her old hard drives from the computer lab, and is apparently the only person brave enough to touch her. Millie, for her part, doesn't seem to mind who owns her.

* Old, old copies of Sunwing and The Fellowship of the Ring, from his social worker
* Assorted medications for depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and sleep.

* One folded up polaroid of himself at a young age, sitting with a smiling teenage boy.

+++ **Personal History**
Alex was born in Belarus to an abused mother and alcoholic father, the youngest of five children. His father was an angry, violent man, to his wife and his children, and Alex was frequently beaten and neglected. He internalized much of the abuse, especially as his powers began to develop and he was exposed to his father's hateful mind and his mother's deep fear. The only bright spot in his youth was the care of his older brother Luka, who did his best to shield Alex from the worst of their father's rage. Still, there is only so much a teenage boy can handle, and eventually Luka didn't come back to the house. The situation grew worse as his powers grew stronger and harder to control. His telekinesis would cause him to accidentally break small objects, bringing on another drunken tirade.

When Alex was twelve, his father was finally arrested on a drunk driving charge, and during an investigation of the family's house, he was discovered by the authorities hiding in a closet, flinching away from touch. He was so small that at first they thought he was about eight or nine. Once his actual age was verified, and the extent of the abuse he had suffered came to light, he was immediately taken by family services and placed in a group home. It was there that his brilliant mind was discovered, as well as his burgeoning psychic ability. Alex was taken by the Bureau at fourteen and enrolled in the school to help train his powers and teach him to use them responsibly.

+++ **Miscellaneous**
Alex is extremely shy and quiet and will flinch away from loud noises and sudden movements. He is very averse to being touched, though when he becomes attached to someone, he will prefer to stay within arms reach of that person. He is happiest in the library, tucked between the shelves, reading or sketching. He's very curious, his thirst for knowledge unslakable, and will often take advantage of his small stature and silence to eavesdrop.

He knows Morse Code, and the exact chemical makeup of vodka. He also has a curious talent for stitchery. He can knot a cherry stem with his tongue.
