Karl woke up on a patch of grass. Slowly he stirs, the memories and pain of lacerations, bruises, and other injuries fresh in his mind. And yet, they where gone.
Where am I? He thinks to himself. The last thing he remembered was charging at a dreadnought hiveguard with his pickaxe held high. He looked ahead of him. Around him where titanic mountains, distant forests and clouds. He looked down to see his m1000. Reaching down he picked it up, well accustomed to the weight of the weapon. This place... It definitely wasn't Hoxxes nor was it a place he had seen before. And yet it felt so familiar, like he had returned home after his years long crusades deep in the crust of Hoxxes IV.
A shadow, high in the clouds, darted above the dwarf, a shadow belonging to some winged lizard. Karl took a step forward, then another, towards the mountains in the distance, the fire of curiosity driving him forward. Had he died, and somehow found himself in the afterlife? Or had he traveled back in time somehow, back to the time of the ancestors. Back in a time of war with swords and spears. Whatever this place was, he was going to find out, and he was going to find a way back home.

Many years later, the denizens of this land would tell stories of a peculiar dwarf. One who moved with lightning speed and the strength of a hundred lions. One who could kill anyone with a resounding crack of his weapon, at ranges far greater than the greatest archers. He single handedly turned the tides of battles on a whim, and could defeat entire armies. He slew monsters of the deep no one dared to even challenge. Many speculated to his goals, or who this dwarf was, but most scholars agreed that he was acting to achieve some goal.
