  5. Legendary Pokémon aren't as rare as Mythical Pokémon, but sometimes they can be distributed as in-game events with moves they cannot normally receive (I may be wrong since many Mythical Pokémon go with that, like the Moonblast shiny Jirachi).
  6. In contrast, Mythical Pokémon are more rare than Legendaries, and are usually out as event-only Pokémon (unless if they were hacked, of course). For example, Mew is a Mythical Pokémon, while its easier-to-get counterpart, Mewtwo, is Legendary. It's reasonable, though, because Mew has greater value as it cannot be "legitimately" found in the wild in the later games and can only be obtained as a distributed event.
  7. Some people consider Mythicals as Legendaries (or vice versa in some cases) because of their value, but they're only half right. Mythical Pokémon are not Legendary; if they were, they wouldn't be Mythical; they'd be LEGENDARY. Mythicals and Legendaries do NOT have the same value. The only way the two are similar is that the Pokémon within each category are said to be [very] powerful; a number of each are in the Ubers tier, such as the Mythicals Genesect and Darkrai and the Legendaries Lugia and Ho-Oh, but others are not so much recognized positively, such as Regigigas (because of Slow Start) and Articuno (I'm gonna guess the reason is its typing of Ice/Flying or its mediocre base Speed stat).

  9. On another note, the Mythical Pokémon Manaphy has a counterpart that is not Legendary nor Mythical, or Phione in proper terms. You're probably saying "But it is Legendary!" or even ask "Why is Phione not in either category? How do you know it isn't Legendary or Mythical?" One reason is, simply put, it can be hatched from an egg if Manaphy and Ditto breed in a Day Care. If Manaphy could give offspring of itself, it wouldn't be as valuable; however, Phione has a bit less value but still higher than Pokémon such as Yanma and Nosepass, which can be found in the wild (unlike Phione legitimately). Phione can't breed its own offspring; for that it needs Manaphy. It takes a lot more steps to hatch, so it's sort of reasonable to why Phione has at least a slight value. Its lower-than-Legendary and higher-than-normal value is another reason why it's not a Legendary nor Mythical Pokémon.
