- after upgrading to Windows 8.1 the Intel PROSet advanced drivers are no longer supported (see here: [...] and the upgrade will actually warn you and/or prevent you from performing an in-place upgrade. So, you're asking, how do I continue using this great card /and/ still upgrade to Windows 8.1 /and/ still use the PROSet drivers? Well, fun fact (and entirely unsupported by Intel), if you use the drivers from the Intel I350-T2 all of the functionality returns. I've been using those drivers since installing Win 8.1 and it has been 100% stable configured in an LACP adapter team + VLAN trunk to my switch + jumbo frames (as well as all of the other great features from PROSet provides).
- Step!
- 1. Install the latest Windows 8.1 PROSet drivers - [...]
- 2. Right-click on the Ethernet 2 (or whatever number it is for the PRO/1000 PT card) under Network Connections
- 3. Click on the 'Drivers' tab
- 4. Click 'Update Driver'
- 5. Click Browse my computer...
- 6. Click the option - 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'
- 7. Uncheck the Show compatible hardware box
- 8. Locate Intel in the left-hand box
- 9. Locate the Intel (R) Ethernet Server Adapter I350-T2
- 10. Next your way to completion
- 11. Repeat this on the secondary eth port
- Once you are done, all of the PROSet features will be available.
- tl;dr: if running Windows 8.1, switch to the I350-T2 driver to regain all the PROSet advanced features. Its unsupported, but works great.
