- Hi Jessica,
- I actually already made some plans and have some school work and studying I was planning on doing. So even if I could spare some time, I probably can't spare a lot tomorrow or Monday/Tuesday.
- And from our talk yesterday, I feel like both you and Warren have given me a pretty good picture of what has been occurring. I understand that you all don't have any sort of malicious intent, nor do you wish to exclude others. However, that doesn't mean that there isn't a reality of people feeling left out.
- I am already doing my best to help those people feel more included. However, if you would like to talk to me about ways to improve the situation, I am open to hearing suggestions always⦠Just maybe not tomorrow.
- I hope that all of you don't feel as if I was speaking directly in regards to what we discussed yesterday. Feeling included and wanting a feeling of community is something that many incoming students want, and it is very easy to feel left out or feel a sense of not belonging regardless of other factors -- and some people do feel that, too. I was trying to make a more general statement (which is why it went out on the listserv and not just to you all individually), so my most sincere apologies if you felt as if I was talking only about what we discussed yesterday.
- Anyway, I hope this e-mail can clear some things up. If you all want to send me a more detailed e-mail explaining what miscommunication you feel has been occurring, please feel free. I really want to make sure that I can try to understand your feelings better concerning this. I'll also be putting more One-on-One sign up times for this up coming week soon and you can come in individually to discuss the issue further. Feel free to sign up for 2 slots in a row for more time, too.

- Hi Mimi,
- Jenny, Josh, Nick, and I would like to meet with you tomorrow about the email you just sent. We feel there's a lack of communication about the potential problems that are occurring on the floors, and we would like to discuss them and come up with some type of plan to attempt to fix them.
- Thank you,
- Jessica

- Hey everyone, as the school year progresses (Congrats on surviving your first week!!), let's try to be mindful of the impact that our actions have on others in the community.
- We strive to build an inclusive community here at Cal, so please think of the potential impact of using public spaces for small social group activities that may seem exclusionary and uncomfortable to others. But for the time being, organized events that use public spaces and are exclusionary are highly discouraged/not allowed. The lounge and kitchen spaces are for everyone on the 5/6th floors and Putnam Hall in general. Not for student group meetings. Not for activities where the rest of the community is not welcomed. And remember, if you have concerns about wanting to put on a Cool Event but it seems like way too much work, I'm here for you. I have the resources and money to help you make your event a reality. So uuuuuuuuussssseeee meeeeeeeeeee. And remember, Floor Committee is coming up soon!! I'll be putting up fliers on Monday/Tuesday-ish.
- Also, remember that the RAs are students, too! They are due your utmost respect. It's okay to joke around with me or even poke fun at me, cause I get it. But if I hear other RAs complaining about how they are being treated by people on the 5th and 6th floors, we will be having a conversation about it.
- One more thing, Lock outs. Being allowed into your room is a COURTESY done by the RAs for you when the front desk is closed. When you don't live in the halls and you are locked out⦠you're locked out. So, please, before you call the RA on Duty at 5AM in the morning, check to see if your roommate is in there. Be polite to the RA who arrives to let you in. They're really tired, too. Here is a graphic representation of what I mean.
- Again, if y'all need anything. I'm here for you. Happy Saturday! BASK IN THE GLORY OF CAL'S SECOND VICTORY. YEAHHH!!! YEAHHHH GO US!!! WOOO!
- CREAM TRIP
- TOUCHDOWN MONDAY 9/8 8:00PM
- Meet in the 5th floor lounge!
- Bring $2! Vegan options may cost more.
