  1. "class dismissed."
  2. The words most students in the room had been desperate to hear. Snape's classes were rough and even rougher to students who didn't meet his minimum expectations. Which was pretty much all of them.
  3. One student, a ravenclaw, however stayed behind. His classmates looked at him worried, but he told them it was alright, he's just going to ask something about the lessons from Snape and join them later.
  4. Snape went to sit behind his desk and looked at the student standing infront of him. He had the look as if he was going to scold the boy for something and reduce house points for no reason. Snape scowled and turned to look at the boy's friends who were staying in the classroom, waiting for their friend. They immediately turned away and left the room. Leaving only Snape and the ravenclaw student behind.
  5. The ravenclaw looked around, making sure they were alone.
  6. "The trees are nice this time of the year." He said to Professor Snape and looked straight in the professor's eyes.
  7. Snape looked at the boy a bit annoyed. "I am more interested in the acorn."
  8. The ravenclaw boy relaxed. "Arboreal raven present."
  9. "I assume you are here, because you have something to report." Snape said with his monotone voice. His expression was oddly neutral. usually he was annoyed by the presence of students after his classes.
  10. "I do have several things to report."
  11. Snape stared at the boy.
  12. "Right right, I'll just get to it then. There are new players in the orchard."
  13. "Who are they working for?" Snape asked calmly
  14. "Mcgonagall, the gryffindor candidate was completely nameless, but there are some students that have started to plant rumors about her. They're taking root making her more known around the school."
  15. "This doesn't sound important to me, I am more interested in what you have observed from the targets." Snape said annoyed.
  16. "Trust me, Severus, This isn't some detail that can be glanced over. The gryffindor girl is gaining popularity, more and more people know her by name now. Even the acorn himself."
  17. "And is Mcgonagall influencing her?" Snape asked.
  18. "Not as far as I know, however, there is someone else who is. But I believe he's doing it unknowingly."
  19. "And who is that?"
  20. "Flitwick, he is asking the acorn to tutor other students, and the gryffindor candidate is one of the students he is tutoring."
  21. "So Flitwick is directly influencing the game in gryffindor's favour..." Snape said with his usually monotone voice turning a bit deeper.
  22. "Not any more than you, pairing the blackbird and the acorn during potions classes."
  23. "I stopped doing it months ago, the two haven't realized they could pair up with whoever they wish." Snape said a bit pleased at the situation he had created in potions classes.
  24. "Oho, that is actually quite clever, you created a situation where they're willingly pairing up, because that's all they've known."
  25. "Save your empty praises and continue with the report."
  26. "Well, I saved the best news to last. I heard an interesting discussion between the acorn and the blackbird, while I had climbed up to my tree of observation."
  27. "Well?"
  28. "Well... Let me tell you exactly what happened.
  29.
  30. It was getting darker, The dinnertime was over and there was a boy standing in the shadow of a tree in the courtyard. He was waiting, hoping the person who he was waiting for would show up. He had sent her an owl and asked to meet him there. He knew the person he send the message to expected for something else.
  31. "Why the devil did you ask to meet me here, Ymous?" A girl with brown hair and red eyes asked the waiting boy angrily. She had her wand out.
  32. "Put your wand away, I didn't ask you to come here for a fight." Anon said and raised his hands, showing he didn't have his wand out.
  33. Merula didn't put her wand away, she pointed it at the boy.
  34. "Why did you ask me here, are you finally going to tell me you give up and that I am better than you are?"
  35. "Not quite, I need a favour from you."
  36. The girls eyes sparked and got wider, she scowled at the boy.
  37. "A favour? YOU are going to ask ME for a favour. YOU!" The girl snapped.
  38. "Well, yeah, I am..." Anon said, looking around.
  39. "You must be dumber than you look, if you think I will ever help you with anything, except following your brother's footsteps into an early grave."
  40. "You're right, I must be insane thinking you would help me with anything." Anon said listening to the tree rustling in the wind, this was a mistake.
  41.
  42.
  43. "How do you know what Anon was thinking." Snape asked the ravenclaw annoyed.
  44. "It's called storytelling." The ravenclaw answered annoyed. "A good story grows from a tiny sapling into a great solid tree, rooted in setting, with a solid trunk of a plot and then branches upon branches of intrigue and..."
  45. "Enough, just finish with your report." Snape snapped annoyed.
  46.
  47.
  48. Anon looked at the girl annoyed.
  49. "Maybe spending all the time in the cursed ice made you this cold." He said emphasising on the cursed ice
  50. Merula's expression changed somewhat, she hadn't forgotten about it, in fact the whole thing kept her up at night, why did this idiot save her?
  51. "Fine, I'll hear you out then..." She said with a more timid tone.
  52. "Great, I just need..." Anon started.
  53. "Not here! If you want anything from me, you will have to buy me a drink, lots of drinks... A hundred drinks, more drinks than you can afford." Merula said going back to her haughty superior tone.
  54. Anon stopped to think about what the girl was saying.
  55. "Alright, let's meet in Hogsmeade tomorrow, I'll buy you a butterbeer at three broomsticks."
  56. "You're going to have to do more than that, if you want anything off me." Merula said and smiled mischievously.
  57. Anon watched the girl walk into the castle, he was about to leave himself when he turned to the tree and talked to himself
  58. "Why do I want to go to a date with my worst enemy just to lend her broomstick?" He jumped a bit when he noticed there was a ravenclaw student sitting in the tree.
  59. The ravenclaw didn't miss a beat and said.
  60. "Why are you asking about brooms? You should be asking why I'm sitting in a tree."
  61.
  62.
  63. "How much of that actually happened?" Snape asked annoyed. He wasn't worried about the ravenclaw possibly getting caught, because it wasn't breaching the terms. And no one expected him to ask for a ravenclaw to spy on Anon and Merula. He was more annoyed at his spy's eccentricities.
  64. "All of what they talked about, they're planning on going to Hogsmeade today, after the classes."
  65. Snape didn't smile, but if he did he would smile now, instead he simply looked less hateful than usual. He grabbed a bottle and two glasses from his desk. He poured some nettle wine in the glasses and put one of them infront of the ravenclaw. Who picked it up.
  66. "Excellent work, 20 points to ravenclaw." Professor Snape said and lifted his glass.
  67. The ravenclaw also lifted his glass and the two drank the wine in celebration.
  68. "I trust you will go to hogsmeade, and make sure all of this actually happens." Snape said to the Ravenclaw.
  69. "I will do that." the ravenclaw said coughing.
  70. "Alright, you're free to go then." Snape said and put the bottle away.
  71. "In that case I will leave."
