  1. "...?"
  2.
  3. Desolation already, it would seem. While he assesses the damage around the mines, he ponders who's exactly been doing it; whether it's the Fireblooded, Osronans, Moxtli tribesmen or any other force.
  4.
  5. They're fighting the whole world as it is, so the list is endless.
  6.
  7. "Who did that?"
  8.
  9. But apparently the rustle above earned his attention; he looked up at the top of the mines, if only to notice a peculiar someone.
  10.
  11. Aviel.
  12.
  13. "Not another step."
  14.
  15. The massive gun-blade, the Journey's End, is immediately aimed at Aviel; unlike the ordinary soldiers, the Captain wielded a weapon most impressive.
  16.
  17. For obvious reasons.
  18.
  19. "Surrender or you'll be shot at."
  20. (Marcel Delisle)
  21.
  22. He halted on his steps before closing his eyes and heaving a deep breath.
  23.
  24. The magi glanced at the Delisle's direction, meeting the Imperial Captain's gaze from the corner of his eyes.
  25.
  26. "Marcel Delisle, a legend himself," said Aviel as he finally faced Marcel's direction.
  27.
  28. But, Aviel's figure vanished, only to appear behind the Captain, twin blades of crimson and azure drawn.
  29.
  30. "No."
  31. (Aviel)
  32.
  33. The Captain was impassive.
  34.
  35. Truthfully, war became something akin to a simple work to him- dealing with insurgency and enemies all the same on almost daily basis. Nothing but a blank expression remained on his face, but..
  36.
  37. The refusal to surrender was expected.
  38.
  39. "I see."
  40.
  41. Admittedly, just as the shot was about to be taken, the fact that he'd get so close towards Marcel might not be the best idea.
  42.
  43. In response to getting so close to Marcel..
  44. Black lightning stretches to Aviel in response.
  45.
  46. Draining, weakening him already- and shielding the Captain all the same; even if he were to strike him in the back, it'd feel akin to a barrier that is all too difficult to pierce. Marcel turns, loading his gun once more.
  47.
  48. "That was your mistake."
  49.
  50. Click..
  51. BANG!
  52. (Marcel Delisle)
  53.
  54. Aviel has sustained an injury in battle...
  55.
  56. Aviel has rolled 2 or over: they may escape capture attempts (unless otherwise specified)!
  57.
  58. They are no match.
  59.
  60. To be exact, there's a reason why Marcel occupies the position of the Captain; the black lightning, coupled with the powerful weapon the Journey's End that he wields.. it creates for quite a challenge for any that would dare to try and oppose him.
  61.
  62. Assaulting Privates and other soldiers is one thing.
  63. To fight their superior, however?
  64.
  65. It feels almost impossible. While Aviel is no doubt a skilled fighter with speed unmatched, it seems to do little against the overwhelming power of the Captain; coming close to strike him seems a futile attempt, for the black lightning punishes him so- the shredding winds that cripple him make it difficult to fight all the same, bleeding him dry by the passing moment.
  66.
  67. But it's not the bleeding out he should be scared of.
  68. It's the lightning.
  69.
  70. Electricity, combined with water, spells a lot of trouble... as anyone should be aware; in response for Aviel's yet another assault attempt, the extension of his water magic has only resulted in his punishment.
  71.
  72. One that would be most severe.
  73.
  74. Frying, singing him. The sheer impact is enough to blast him off, leaving the smoking mess out of the man; yet, eerily, strangely...
  75.
  76. The Captain remains blank in his expression.
  77. Emotionless.
  78.
  79. "Don't feel bad."
  80.
  81. "This is far above your league- far above beating up on common soldiers."
  82.
  83. And yet, they were not done. Whereas Aviel was already hurt, he could hear the menacing sound.
  84.
  85. The Imperial Might approaches; boots thudding against the ground.
  86.
  87. Thud!
  88. Thud!
  89. Thud!
  90.
  91. The smoke that enveloped Aviel might afford a chance of escape- for it seems that Marcel is actively looking for him.
  92.
  93. "Now, where were you-"
  94.
  95. If only for these two unimpressed eyes suddenly spark up when they spot something- they spot Aviel in the smoke.
  96.
  97.
  98. "There you are."
  99.
  100.
  101. Thud! Thud! Thud!
  102.
  103. The boots are echoing closer; the hand of the Captain stretches out to grasp Aviel.
  104.
  105. He only has two choices.
  106. Flee or be taken.
  107. (Marcel Delisle)
  108.
  109. The magi's figure blurred across the field, speed that seemed not to halt as he dodged those black lightning that previously incinerated him.
  110.
  111. Ride upon the ether as he might, those twin blades of his, sharp as they may be, seemed a stick of wood against a concrete wall.
  112.
  113. However, to remain and continue his assault would be foolish, thus he would swim across about the Captain like a blur.
  114.
  115. Yet, to speak for Marcel's reputation, his speed could not surpass those dreadful lightning of black.
  116.
  117. 'Don't feel bad. This is far above your league.'
  118.
  119. The Captain spoke and those words ceased the magi from getting close once more, only to come into being from that of a mist so far away Marcel.
  120.
  121. From afar, he drew his bow, yet at the same time, pestered by bullets and lightning. That deterred him not as an arrow not created out of light was made, but a dragon of azure, its cries echoing about in rage.
  122.
  123. However, black lightning descended from the sky, searing his already dampened body bringing him to a kneel and vanishing into a thin mist.
  124.
  125. But, even as a smoke, the Delisle spotted him, grasping his throat.
  126.
  127. He met the captain's gaze as he tightened his jaw, grasping for air. Only then did Aviel realize Marcel was beyond him.
  128.
  129. Aviel's body abruptly shone in a crimson light, an attempt to distract or blind the Captain from up close. Something even Julius would be so familiar of.
  130.
  131. And if Marcel were to open his eyes again, perhaps not even deterred, he would see the magi no more.
  132.
  133. "I'll come again," echoed a wispy voice.
  134.
  135. He would destroy this man who brought him shame.
  136. (Aviel)
  137.
  138. Threats.
  139.
  140. They are futile against Marcel. Many have claimed that they would come again, that they would one day kill him- perhaps that will be true one day, for he knows how all Imperial soldiers end.
  141.
  142. They all end in a grave.
  143.
  144. But such thought was long accepted, and until it does happen, he'll continue carrying out the will of the Empire; when Aviel is at last grasped by his throat, there's a palpable attempt to drain him of all mana to disable him.
  145.
  146. The black lightning stretching all across his body, but..
  147.
  148. In time, he manages to escape; through the blinding flash and through combination of his swiftness, no doubt. The Captain was quick to assess his environment once more, but..
  149.
  150. He was not found again.
  151.
  152. "Hrm."
  153.
  154. Unamused. Without a word, he leaves to resume what he was doing. After all..
  155.
  156. Such situations are all too common to him, too familiar. Why should he feel bothered?
  157. (Marcel Delisle)
  158.
  159.
