Quod Pratis

A place of culture and romance, drama, passion, and above all, extremes.
Its central location makes it a hub of tourism and trade alike, meaning the majority of its industry is reliant on its neighbors.
The mainstream religion of Quod Pratis is the worship of the goddess of craft and her many identities. The churches of the area are dedicated to putting on large productions at least once per month, selling special rosaries to allow passage to see it. Rosaries are free to those who find themselves in need of charity or have recently experienced some sort of tragedy. During the production, the entire day, for a full 12 hours, the church's stage is constantly occupied by some form of entertainment, and at the end of each act a meal is provided to each who attend, even to those who were given their rosaries for free.
In addition to the mainstream religion, there's a fair bit of worship of the Triumvirate of strife, though not in the conventional manner. The people of Quod Pratis respect conflict and the role it plays in the world, and therefore they pay their dues to those who make their lives just a bit more interesting.
The people of Quod Pratis are dramatic, passionate, and romantic. This leads to them often leads them towards extremes, and the life of many of its citizens could be considered noteworthy in some small way, as if all their lives was a production in some great or small play of their own.
In Quod Pratis, there are three levels. The middle level, simply referred to as the name of the city, and then the levels directly above and below it, which are referred to separately from the city, as if they're separate places entire. The place below is called Infernum, a place where debauchery of many forms can be found. It is accessed primarily through the center of the city, through four great big sets of stairs going straight down. Each day, at morning and night, a great deal of forlorn souls can be seen pushing down those stairs in droves. It hosts the city's arena, a place where performance and brutality intermingle and become intwined, and it is also where special "challenges" take place, where contestants are pit against each other in various different tasks, all usually odd and/or comedic in nature, in front of a live audience. The above realm is referred to as the "Red Cloud", and consists of a series of buildings built atop the middle layer of the city, all painted red, accessed usually through separate means than the buildings they are on top of. The Red Cloud is a place of decadence beyond belief, where the rich and powerful go to fall into a deep, waking dream from which they do not wish to leave, where Peppermint Spice flows like water, and the men and women are beautiful and lustful. Naturally, children are not allowed to enter either Infernum or the Red Cloud.
