Bill response: Washington HB-1011 2017-18

The amendments outlined in this bill are unwarranted, unnecessary and are themselves unconscionable acts of bigotry purporting to solve a problem that has not been proven to exist in any capacity. Even if this bill were to pass, these unconstitutional amendments would most certainly be struck down by the courts in short order as demonstrated repeatedly by similar measures all across the country.

This bill represents one of the many present battles for civil rights and equality. Would you rather be remembered as one who fought with us against the oppression of minorities such as the transgender community, or as an oppressor representing the backward-thinking hatred and bigotry this country was founded in part to escape?

I implore you to take a stand alongside the transgender community in strong opposition to this hateful piece of legislation, and the misguided individuals who support it.
