  1. The weakest of the Chief God's angels and the most numerous, most angels that were created by the current Chief God started out as one of these humble creatures and more join the heavenly ranks every day despite the wound afflicting Her form.
  2.
  3. Creation
  4.
  5. While unable to create things from scratch as easily as the original Overgod, the Chief God has mastered improvisation and recycling. Using fractions of the souls of mortals given by the Death God, She nurtures them with the pure spiritual power of Heaven, granting them life and instilling within them their purpose. These angels do not take long to create and set to work almost immediately after they have had time to acclimate to existence.
  6. After receiving Her injury, guardians are made with increasing regularity by the Chief, hopefully as seeds for a greater army to aid in another confrontation with Her former Champion.
  7.
  8. Purpose and Duties
  9.
  10. Guardians exist outside the Spheres of their compatriots, their purpose mostly to guide mortals of interest to the Chief God to live upright and moral lives or to protect people of interest who are meant for a higher purpose. A secondary task guardian angels have is to bridge the gap between the divine and mortal. It is not uncommon for angels with many years of service to grow disconnected to what those on earth go through and guardians are helpful in providing much needed grounding for those with unrealistic expectations of mortals.
  11. Perhaps as a consequence of how they are created, Guardian angels might be afflicted by strong memories from the souls that were their base. While this doesnโ€™t distract them too much, it sees to make them especially prone to daydreaming and wondering that they will grow out of in time.
  12.
  13. Characteristics
  14.
  15. A newly made Guardian is relatively frail for an angel, needing to be more thoroughly refined in Heaven's light before they can truly join the Spheres and boast the same abilities as their elders. Despite this, they still have a celestial air about them though their halos are dim and their two budding wings still are translucent. Their duties are almost always performed under mortal disguise to hide the flawless perfection of their bodies. Strangely, they seem to keep the vast majority of the appearance that was provided by the base soul that provided the material for their creation.
  16. These traits only apply to newly made guardian angels as angels from the other Spheres can serve as guardian angels for saints and blessed heroes, putting a temporary halt to their other duties in order to safeguard prime targets of demons and the Fallen.
  17.
  18. Corruption
  19.
  20. Lacking the reserves of spiritual power that their superiors have refined, newly made guardian angels are particularly vulnerable to corruption. Having insufficient tempering of mind, body, and spirit means that these guardians might simply decide to go native upon growing corrupted, unable or choosing not to purify themselves in the clouds and allow the malignant taint to stain them further. Inevitably, they will fall and be barred from the Heavens forever more.
  21.
  22. Ascension
  23.
  24. Once a new Guardian has had what little impurities that remained in them from the mortal soul that was their base purged from them, in turn solidifying their halos and having their wings grow out to a proper span, they are ready to join the Spheres and are assigned to one by a Throne. This is usually when they forge a burning weapon of celestial steel for themselves to better focus their divine power and smite the wicked.
  25. Of course, a newly promoted guardian can always choose a Sphere they prefer even after becoming a proper angel of the Sphere they wound up in.
