- Hex woke up in the TARDIS. When he peeked outside, the TARDIS halls were still dark and empty. Apparently everyone was asleep.
- He decided to wander the halls. Ace had told him you could get lost in the halls, and had spoken in hushed whispers about companions who never found the way back. He was pretty certain that she was teasing him, but he still kept track of where he was. Not that the winding road of the TARDIS corridors scared him or anything.
- And then he turned a corner, and saw a corpse. Actually, it wasn't a corpse, but it looked dead. The creature's eyes were flutterred, and the dark grey skin flushed with odd chemicals.
- “It's a stowaway,” said the Doctor. His eyes were in that usual grave manner. “An escapee from a battle in the universe under ours. The TARDIS took pity, and let it on. Without my permission.”
- Hex could have sworn the ship huffed back. He watched the creature's eyes flutter open.
- “Is it--”
- “Dangerous? Probably,” the Doctor whispered. “Let it rest.”
- Hex and the Doctor walked away. Before he turned the corner, he looked bacl.
- The creature stared at him. And spoke.
- “Hex.”
