  1. >Aww shit nigga, people want to learn how to draw
  2. First off some resources:
  3. >Beginner tier
  4. sycra's youtube channel
  5. proko's youtube channel
  6. ctrlpaint.com
  7. >Intermediate tier
  8. vilppu's youtube channel
  9. cubebrush.com
  10. >Expert tier
  11. There's no reliable expert tier that's for free and frankly if you should only bother with those if you're already low-end professional tier
  12.
  13. There's also: http://www.mediafire.com/folder/17axpf4d7k05u/artbooks#myfiles
  14. /ic/'s collection of e-books, all free. Yaar!
  15. For beginners, I recommend Loomis and Hampton. There's also 'Drawing with the right side of your brain' but I haven't read that so I can't stand by it.
  16. If you've skill under your belt, there's Scott Robertson and Burne Hogarth. If animation's your thing, there's the Animator's Survival Kit but keep in mind that animation would also require knowledge of drawing.
  17.
  18. Then there's the fundamentals. Perspective, value, form and composition. Composition is very intuitive so a new artist may not have the feel for it. Perspective on the other hand is very technical and has little left to intuition so it's pretty good for new artists to concentrate on. Value and form go hand in hand. Value is basically how light or dark and object is and form is the 3d shape of the object. Basically, value and form is how the light reacts to shapes and surfaces. Color is a subset of value. Only move onto colors when you have your values in line. So if you're a new artist, here's the priority of importance with regards to the fundamentals from highest to lowest:
  19. >Form
  20. >Value
  21. >Perspective
  22. >Composition
  23.
  24. If you're serious about drawing, be prepared to feel like shit every time you draw especially if you're starting out. That will never go away.

  26. Don't be afraid to ask for critique. Don't be an asswipe and throw a tantrum when you receive harsh critique. Yes, it hurts that's just how it is. Don't take it personally.
  27.
  28. Good luck!
