  1. Elegant Chard. Used to being referred to as Butler, Caddy, Pup, Flunkey, Elegant, and really just about anything besides Chard.
  2.
  3. ★Design★
  4. Description: Earth Pony, burgundy with a dark wine colored mane, slightly older in years and on the tall side.
  5.
  6. Background:Grew up the frail, single son of a lower-class couple in Manechester, who worked as hard as possible to give him an opportunity to get ahead in society. Though impetuous and brash in youth, he nonetheless became a devoted and well-mannered son, if a little reckless in everything including his tumultuous studies.
  7.
  8. The visual meaning of his mark is ambiguous (Chard is a super healthy vegetable?), but he felt a calling to the task of service after so many years of work in the hopes of repaying his parents’ efforts, and redoubled his study focus towards etiquette and stewardship. After a period of uncertainty and odd jobs to spread his reputation for reliability, he was finally selected to serve as butler and general aide to a wealthy, aged Pegasus dame, notable among the elite for her solitude, stubbornness and other standoffish ways.
  9.
  10. After a somewhat rough introductory period, however, he came to learn that underneath the biting persona was a wise, witty, tolerant (sometimes quite caring) soul. This period, nearly a decade long, would prove to be one of his happiest overall: earning enough to singlehandedly support his parents (finally giving them the rest they deserved before his father's death a few years before the story begins), training new skills such as cooking, housekeeping and basic combat efficacy for the increasingly eclectic tasks of his work, and forging a friendship with and loyalty towards his employer.
  11.
  12. Of course, even as robust as she was, she couldn’t shrug off the effects of time forever. As the dame was forced to grow more sedentary, his already full-time duties increased and her discontent mounted until she finally decided that her current trajectory in life was intolerable, and she was making his a hell. Under the guise of preparing for a vacation, she had his assistance in getting her physical affairs in order - much of her possessions were quietly donated - and then, one crisp and cloudy day near summer's end, an oddly sentimental conversation on his service and their time together gave way to a very sudden departure in the form of one last flight, heedless of his desperate calls.
  13.
  14. Despite his every effort, the final destination of her path to the east couldn’t be located. After a heartbreaking half a year of travel and searching, he returned to find that she’d hidden a will in her home. Most of her fortune went to the public welfare, and he - not her family, to their furious indignation - came into money of his own.
  15.
  16. In spending time with his grateful old mother, the sting of loss finally began to ebb, and the lessons of the two women came in the form of resolve to continue his purpose of supporting and protecting remarkable people, helping to realize the potential of their gifts. The two moved to *insert city close to Ponyville here* shortly after, helping to fund social campaigns in his home city from afar while he sought new employment and opportunities.
  17.
  18. Perspective: Having grown up in the poorer circles of Manechester, he has an intimate understanding of the struggles and social stigmas that can arise from such a position, while also possessing some inside knowledge of trials and expectations among the wealthy. Has been fairly solitary his entire life, possessing few outside friends and little want to start a family of his own.
  19.
  20. Direction: sees the current support of a group as a temporary venture, with long term goals to continue his work in the service industry while supporting or planning social/welfare campaigns on the side.
  21.
  22. ★Aspects★
  23. Guiding Element: Loyalty.
  24. Fatal Flaw: recklessness. While a learned person capable of giving sound, safe advice to others, his regard for himself is entirely different. Overworking for those he’s loyal to, while sacrificing any energy/safety of his which furthers his task, is essentially a lifestyle to him. As a result, he’s also something of a stick in the mud who denies himself any fun.
