444. <s3>I</s3>var was raised to be a fierce Iron Born despite his limited use of his legs. But during the Rebellion of the Iron Islands, both him and Theon were taken from Pyke to foster at Winterfell. While Theon grew accustomed to life on land, Ivar always reminded himself that they were technically hostages and that he was meant to be at sea. He couldn’t play with other children because he tended to get violent and even killed one with a small axe when he was 8. Though he and Theon were blood, the elder preferred the company of the eldest of Stark’s sons and so, Ivar was left to quietly judge his cousin and stew.

445. Despite wanting to keep to the ways of Salt and Rock, it was difficult to avoid some Northern customs. He was given a hammer at ten to smith and practice disciple and an axe at thirteen to cut down the woods and hunt. It was decided that due to his disabilities he would be better suited making the weapons and fire for those fighting battles rather than fight them themselves. When Bran Stark fell from the tower he had no sympathy for the boy who no longer hand use of his legs. Ivar comments that he should be lucky that he could walk perfectly if only for a little while and that he is doing just fine despite it. Not long after this incident he takes the opportunity that the Starks are on edge about the Lannisters and escapes: avoiding the War of five kings to smuggle himself back to Pyke. He killed for the new clothes on his back, he killed to get himself on a boat, and once he began he couldn’t stop. He would got back to Pyke. And even as the deadly storm raged and threw his ship about he welcomed the harsh embrace of the sea as he fell overboard. He filled his lungs with salt water and sank into the sea until the tentacle of his God brought him back to break. What is dead may never die.

446.
 447. He evokes the Drowned God upon his return, bathing in the salt and saying the words. By the time Theon returns on behalf of “The King in the North” he barely recognizes Ivar who looks so smugly at the revelation that Yara (Asha) is everything Theon would never be; ason for Balon Greyjoy to be proud of.
He remains in Pyke while the siblings take the shores of the North and Theon makes his gravest mistake by taking Winterfell. Ivar doesn’t see him again until after his bad-luck with the Boltons.
After the assassination of Balon Greyjoy the line of succession is up for the taking. He doesn’t support Euron because he’s trying to appeal to the Queen of Westeros and claim Pyke as his own by use of a crown. He doesn’t support Yara because she is doing the same with the Targareyen. The Iron Islands should stand on their own as they always have and if they were truly meant to sit on Balon’s seat than both would be able to do so on their own, by paying the Iron Price.

465. X. He never forgot his true home and was often bitter about being taken away.
466. X. Despite being cousins and taken as hostages together, Ivar wasn't as close to Theon as Theon was to Robb.
467. X. He has a terrible temper and often doesn't know how to control it.
468. X. Ivar is barely able to walk and only with the use of canes and wooden cruches. He cannot run or stand up on his own for very long. But don't worry ladies, everything below the belt still works.
469. X. He nearly died on his way back to Pyke due to a storm that turned over his ship.
470. X. He regained consciousness after being brought to the break of the water by the tentacle of a Kraken.
471. X. He bonds with the creature and names him Veron, the drowner.
472. X. Veron will eventually grow to become at least twice the size of a ship.By the time Ivar takes the Salt Throne he is Almost bigger than his main ship.
473. X. Ivar's main ship of his fleet is called The Tempest.
474. X. He eventually moves the throne room on the lowest point of Pyke and opening it to the sea. There is a single path to the throne from the entrance with floor spanning enough for a normal size audience. Aside from that path, the Throne is surrounded by a moat of sea water. Veron's tentacles are often seen spilling from them.

 682. Ivar isn't someone without emotion. Without knowing what being happy or sad was he would never come to know what anger was. And oh, did he get angry. Those who were luckily enough not to feel the swing of his axe were either weary of his calm or welcoming of his charm. He always spoke what was on his mind and is aware of how underestimated he is. Always recognizing an upper-hand, he uses this to gain unpredictability.
683. Though he rarely shows affection of any kind it isn't to say he doesn't feel it. He was genuinely happy to see his Uncle Balon and cousin Yara again.

 753. <s3>I</s3>var watched Yara and Theon flee to the Mother of Dragons, he watched Euron leave the Salt Throne to propose to the widow Queen. He watched three heirs leave the Iron Islands claiming to be it’s leaders but dreaming of the mainland instead. What was an Iron throne made of melted swords against a seat of salt and rock? So he took the seat. Easily, with no one around to fight it but took it all the same. Bathing in the sea among the Drowned Men to claim his spoils and revealing his savior in the storm that brought him back to the Iron Islands. What were words of Queens? If he put that crown of driftwood on his head and proclaimed the Iron Islands free then that’s what they were and he would have his kraken drown all who claimed otherwise.
