  1. THE VEIL GUARD
  2.
  3. What is it?: The Veil Guard is an organization whose ranks are comprised entirely of Ones (whether natural-born or turned) and Twos (used as clean-up crew and on-the-field workers). The Veil Guard do precisely that--they guard the veil which protects the Unseeing world from the true form of the Earth and its magic. The Veil Guard cares deeply for humans who are unawakened, and its enemies are those they see as spoiled, immature wielders of magic--typically vampires, mages, and even the Fae.
  4.
  5. Due to their ingrained prejudices regarding most metahumans and mages, the Veil Guard often turns away those who need their help the most, including low-level mages, newly-turned vampires, and humans that have gained immense magical ability. Case-wise, the Veil Guard generally handles cases involving newly-awakened humans, low-level magic users, and shifters.
  6.
  7. Appearance: The Veil Guard uses more traditional tactics than the Mage Council; they utilize stun guns, magic scale meters, pistols, etc. in their day-to-day enforcement of the law. Their manner of dress is understated--the Veil Guard wears black uniforms with bulletproof vests and resemble the traditional 'enforcer' archetype.
  8.
  9. Barred from working: The Veil Guard does not accept Fae workers or other magical creatures that have naturally incredibly elevated powers; while some shifters around level 3 or 4 are contract workers, anyone above a Two is not privy to Veil Guard protected information, case files, future mission plans, etcetera.
  10.
  11. Locations: The Veil Guard has a branch office in every division and has larger caucuses once a month to discuss changing legislation and enforcement issues. Anyone may walk into a Veil Guard branch office (roughly the equivalent of the Sheriff's office) and request assistance or information. Veil Guard branch offices are generally passed off as any number of non-notable buildings within a town. The offices typically have a brick (or equally hardy) exterior, an unassuming post office box, and a business title which is not appealing. One may identify a Veil Guard branch office by the -000333 designator appended to any numbers or titles posted outside of the business, including the zipcode, the false building title, etcetera. A back entrance is usually concealed from view with foliage or brickwork.
  12.
  13. Caucuses change location every month but are held in larger branch offices throughout the United States.
  14.
  15. Requirements: Must be an American citizen (has lived in the United States for at least fifteen years), cannot have strong ties to foreign governmental enforcement agencies nor the Mage Council. Cannot be above a Level 2 regarding admission to general forces. Cannot be above a level 4 for contract positions except in very specific cases--most 3s and 4s are denied positions even while being lower-level due to lineage, allegiance, suspicions, etc. Must be physically fit if worker is going to be in an enforcement position.
